Let them close their ranches. Then take some helicopters and drive all the elk off their lease. -
HA HA HA I only paid $15.00 SUCKA!

And don't eat at Taco Bell the night before your hunt. You'll be emitting your own form of danger aroma.

I just read a story in Trophy Hunter and the author of the story comes right out and says that he uses his scope instead of binocs. I could not believe they published that crap.

Deer,Predators,and Drought

Wetmule, Thanks for the info. I did not intend to infer that more money should be spent in WT habitat, I was pointing out that lions are a problem in many areas. I am 100% behind the efforts to preserve the Strip deer and gene pool and realize that funds must be spent where they have the most impact. One other question. Does Mr. Bedlion get a special permit from the G&F to kill all these cats in one year or does he have to take a valid tag holder on each hunt? Just curious. I'm not much of a public speaker ( I always skipped that day of class!) Plus, there is no way I could make a midweek meeting at 6:30. If someone wants to run with the raffle idea, please do. I'll be sure to buy some tickets if it gets rolling. -
I have good success getting trail cam pictures over salt blocks. I like the salt / mineral blocks you get at the feed store. I would not overpay for the ones marketed for hunters. I got this tip from another guy and works real well for getting a lick started. Get 3-4 of the small mineral blocks, they're about $2 each. Crush up 2 of them and drill a hole in the one or two of the others. Take a small hand trowel or shovel with you to the trail. Dig a shallow, wide hole at the bottom of a tree, where you want to place the lick. Take one of the crushed blocks and pour it in the hole, mix it up real good with some of the dirt. Take the other block with the hole in it and rope or wire it tight to the side of the tree. For what ever reason, the deer like the salt mixed up with the dirt. They will paw that hole all summer long. By placing the other block on the tree, it will seep salty water right down the tree trunk into your salt lick every time it rains and freshen it up. To jump start the lick, try pouring some dark molsassas, anise, or vanilla extract on the tree trunk and around the lick when you first set it up. I'll be setting mine out after the hunting season are done. I need to fix them up a little too. Mine are all home made and need repairs after six months in the rain/wind/snow/

I have a permanent scope hickey right between my eyes too. A moon shaped scar from a 7 mag. That's funny because I was just watching a show the other day and some caribou hunter shot at a bull and the scope wacked him good. They showed the bull falling and you could hear the guide in the backgroud start laughing really loud. I thought, that's kind of weird, but when they pulled the camera back the old fat guy had blood all over his face and the guide was rolling on the ground in a full belly laugh. Great buck by the way.

HA! HA! Just make sure you guys don't go skeerin' all the deer before I get down there. They can smell a Californy guy from a long ways off. See ya Friday!

How many of those are available on DVD?

Oh crap, the neighborhood just went downhill.

I saw 2 bobcats hunting side by side in 37B a couple weeks ago while scouting. Pretty cool to watch them. They look like they could tear you a new one if ya gott'em cornered.

Deer,Predators,and Drought

A couple of questions, and please do not take this as the wrong way. I am just asking out of ignorance. 1. We all know the strip is a great place to hunt big deer, but why concentrate your resources there, where 99% of the people will never get a chance to hunt? 2. Isn't there lion problems in other parts of the state, like Tonto Basin, The Catalinas, Blue River etc? 3. Seems you could turn the problem of getting people to hunt cats into a good way to raise funds. Instead of , or better yet, in addition to, paying Mr. Bedlion to hunt. Pay the hound guys up front, then raffle off some lion hunts. A lot of us would love to kill a lion, but don't really have the $2500 to hire a guide and the ADA doesn't get stuck with the whole bill for Predator Control. Even if you don't turn a profit, your still getting a break on overall cost that you are footing the bill for now. -

He looks like he is saying to himself, "I wish one of those camo wearing hillbillies would come by, I am starving!" -
If I do not see a message that I sent in my "sent" folder, does that mean it did not go through? I sent a couple of PM's in the last few days, but when I just looked in my sent folder, none of them were there. Jeff

I have ordered a lot of ammo from Cabelas without paying a HazMat fee. I think that only applies to loose powder.

I have a Mule Deer hide that is in the freezer. I live in Gilbert. Just let me know when you want to come get it. I don't get home from work till after 6:00 most days. Jef

oops!

I use feathers with mine and it works well. I think PSE just came out with some new vanes that are made just for the Bisquit. If you tell shop you get your arrows from that you are using that rest, they can put a little extra glue in the right places to help with the problem. Jeff
