When I say "short", I mean short draw length. For I am vertically challenged.

North American Deer Slam
DesertBull replied to Shiras's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
There are land owner tags in Cali for Tule. If ya got money to burn. Chuck Adams has taken P&Y animals of ALL NORTH AMERICAN big game animals, not just deer. He used to hold the P&Y World Record for Coues Deer, taken on the San Carlos. I wonder why they break blacktail and mule deer into to seperate catagories, but Whitetail deer, of which their are several different sub-species, are only catagorized as Coues and Whitetail? -
I used to have a bow that would shoot around 250 fps with a hunting arrow and broadhead, but it was so finicky about shooting form that I found it almost useless for hunting. It was an older model PSE. I am sure the new models of bows are much more forgiving. My current bow is a Buckmaster that shoots around 220 fps at 65 lbs. My short draw length (26.5") makes it difficult to get up to the high speeds a lot of guys are getting, but that's ok because I don't really take long shots. My next bow will be a Bowtech because they are short, chubby, lefthanded guy friendly.

Are new guns crap???
DesertBull replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I don't think new guns are crap, but every once in awhile, you get a lemon. Now you get to let Beretta prove just how a good a company they are by standing behind their product. As most shotgunners know, Beretta is one of the oldest manufacturing companies in the world. They have been MFG'ing for over 400 years!. You don't stay afloat that long by crapping on your customers. http://www.berettausa.com/about.htm -
I've never seen anything like this before and I don't understand it at all. Anybody have ANY clue whatt his is all about? http://www.fearthelanguage.com/

Wow, that's too bad. Just be thankful that it was not worse. A lot people get killed or paralyzed every year from tree stand falls. Maybe we could all pitch in and get you one of those Draw Lock thingys!

I can't blame a company for selling thier product to the highest bidder. That's how oil and gas are sold, on the open market. The oil companies do not set the market value. Now, if they all got together and said we are not pumping any more crude because we want the price to go up, then that would be a whole different situation It's no different than a rancher taking his cows to market and selling them. He doesn't say, here are my cows, they are $50 each. He brings them in and the buyers bid on the cows. If there are a lot of buyers and just a few cows, the price is going to go up along with the price of your Double Whopper with cheese. If there are a lot of cows and only a few buyers, the price is going to go down. The problem right now seems to be that we cannot refine the oil fast enough to keep up with demand. Add to that the fact that there are more "buyers" at market now in the form of developing Asian and South American countries. China is driving up the price of almost all natural resources. Checked the price of steel, iron and aluminum lately? Also, There are many many more cars on the road today (and the cars are bigger) than there was 20 years ago, but there are the same amount of refineries. When you get lemons, make lemonade ..... buy stock in Texaco!

I was going to look for a bear on Friday. Not now.

That was my first impression, but there was an ad in the last Eastman's Journal promoting it. Reminded me of that video game where the animals have the guns and shoot at the rednecks.

In less than 24 hours, you could drive to what's left of New Orleans. I guess not getting drawn for a good hunting tag is not all THAT important. I say, if you were willing to give up $25.00 for a deer tag, you should be able to give $10 to help out a human being in the South. http://www.redcross.org/

The Arizona high country look like this in August? That meadow grass is 2' -3' tall.

Crude is traded as a commodity on the free market, basically the same as stocks and bonds. With China, parts of South America, and Asian countries all expanding, they are buying up a lot of the crude and gas, forcing prices higher. It would be easy to blame OPEC and the American Oil companies, but they ae pumping oil as fast they can. The real problem is refining capacity and the fact that there has not been an American refinery built in over two decades, even thought hey 40% more cars on the road and American cars tend to be real big with big fuel appetites. There has been a guy in Yuma trying to get a refinery built down there for 20 years and can't get past the enviro-wackos.

Bear Mountain used to be really good. That guy that runs the place now needs to either learn some "people skills" or just let one of those young chicks that work the register run the joint. 2 weeks ago I was in there, just browsing and killing time, and he looks at me and says "WHAT do you want?" I said, " I want a lot of things, but nuthin' from here." and walked out.

That poor ranger probably had to take a "mental day" after viewing that. Does the G&F have a shrink on staff? -
I don't see why we can't have cars that run on 80-90% alchohol. We could end almost all dependency on imported oil and make our farmers rich. Maybe they would be able to keep their farms instead of selling out to the developers. What happened the fuel cell that was supposed to bankrupt the OPEC countries? Runs on hydrogen and it's only by-product is water? That's was supposed to be the next big investment opportunity 5 years ago. Bio-diesel http://www.freep.com/news/statewire/sw120272_20050823.htm http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_make.html http://www.biodiesel.com/ I've heard that some people are getting their oil from fast rood joints and when they drive down the road the exhaust smells like a Double Whopper with Cheese!

Hawaii will run out of fuel. The oil companies will just not bring them fuel if they can sell it for more in another state. Plus, that is bording on Socialism.

I got this email the other day. I don't have any sheds right now or I would send him some. Maybe some one could help him? I didn't want to post his address on here, but I have it if you want it or email him for it. Thanks Jeff ------ Hi. I noticed on your website that you have quite a few antlers. Well I too, am a antler collector. I have been collecting now for about 3 years. I am 15, and I thought that collecting antlers would be something good to collect. I am an avid hunter, so thats got some effect on why I collect them. I have a lot of whitetail and thats about it. I am from Indiana, so thats all I can find around here. Last year I found out more about the Coues' deer. They are the top on my list of antlers to get right now. I have been trying to add one to my collection since last year. So far I haven't been able to find any. I was hoping if you could that you would send me one. It honestly doesn't matter too me how big it is. I just would really like one, even a set. Wow, I never even thought about owning a set of coues deer antlers. Well I hope you would please send me one. Thanks a whole lot. This would really mean a lot too me. God Bless you. Thanks very much again, I would appreciate this very much! God Bless You! Daniel Johnson

I grew up in southern Illinois. Some of the communities in the area were named: Hole in Rock Skillet Fork Walnut Hill Kinmundy (I can't pay you today, but I kin Monday) Germantown Shady Rest (bootleggers and gambling hangout during the prohibition) It was Hillbilly Heaven!
