Say goodbye to Dec. coues hunts.
DesertBull replied to Redbeard's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
What ever happened to the AZ SFW that was forming? I know it was controvertial, but these are the types of things that they were supposed to take issue with. I am still kind of hesitant about it, being that the original SFW in Utah corrupted the tag structure there and put hundreds of their tags up for the highest bidder. The guys running the AZ version swore that they had no intentions of doing that here. If they had written into their by-laws that they were opposed to such things, like land owner tags and the "wealth" tags, as Utah hunters call them, I would join today. In the meantime, the best way to protest would be to try and get people to NOT apply for any of the new tags. That would probably be as successful as a gas boycott! LOL! -
Relocating to A.Z. from N.Y. soon
DesertBull replied to Nick Z's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Welcome! Ice is like GOLD here, especially during the early (August, Sept, October) hunts. High country winter and spring hunts are more forgiving, but elk need to be taken care of quickly, no matter what the season. -
Does your camera have manual focus? If so, that might be better than trying to let the camera focus automatically. Also, try using the self timer to take the photo instead of pushing the shutter release with your finger. That will cut down on a lot of the vibration. Try not using any zoom on the camera and just use the scope's magnification. Here are some more tips you. Good Luck. http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=2508

WOW! Those are great bucks. 22 bucks /4 days sounds like you were hunting at the Williams Deer Farm! Did you hunt on your own or with a guide? What unit, A,B,C or D?

LOL! Does it have a "honk if your horney" sticker too? -
I have seen cattle and deer FEEDING side by side, but I think when you have a bunch of the range maggots hanging around the waterhole all day long, they do intimidate the deer. WHen they are on the slopes feeding, they are all spread out and can keep their distance, but at the waterhole it's very crowded and the cows outweigh them by 10x. It's not too late to find another water source. I like the G&F trick tanks because they almost alwaysfence them off from the cattle. The sell a book with the locations of hundreds of these tanks. It's $50 though, which seems like a ripoff, but I have received my moneys worth from it.

I was able to download it without any problems. Do you have the latest version (6) of Adobe?

That's what I was thinking too. Either way, a cool looking rack.

Hey, that is SWEET! Congrats! A lion is definately on my wish list.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply anything.. Congrats for doing a good scouting job! Bret <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, no problem. I Just don't want any Game and Fish cops thinking that I am guiding or outfitting hunters without a license.

Watch out for the rump rangers!

From what I have seen the past week or so, the desert mule deer are rutting really good. I have seen some good bucks running around in the middle of the day, tongues dragging in the dirt, looking for love. Kinda like some of you guys on Saturday nights.

I am not a guide, I provide a scouting service. All hunts are DIY.

What about the proposal to have early hunts in August / September? I think you have a good chance to tag a big bull in August if you have the patience to sit water and work ethic + time to scout hard. It would be a great chance to put those trail cams to use.

If you pay your bills, they won't cut off your internet connection.

About that time Caesar Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Empire. This was the first census when Quirinius was the governor of Syria. Everyone had to travel to his hometown to be accounted for. So Joseph went from the Galilean town of Nazareth up to Bethlehem in Judah, David's hometown, for the census. As a decendant of David he had to go there. He went with Mary, his fiancee, who was pregnant. While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. She gave birth to a son, her firstborn. She wrapped Him in a blanket and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the hostel. There were shepherds camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and God's glory blazed around them. They were terrified. The angel said, "Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you're to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger." At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God's praises: "Glory to God in the heavenly heights; Peace to all men and women on earth who please Him." As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the shepherds talked it over. "Let's get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us." They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the shepherds were impressed. Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within herself. The shepherds returned and let loose, glorifying and praising God for everything they had heard and seen. It turned out exactly the way they'd been told! ~ Luke 2:1-20

The AZ G&F has approved the fee increases for this year, but withdrew the Class A/B tag structure proposal. Resident elk tags are now $114, even for a limited opp cow tag!

I was bowhunting in 22 on Satuday and saw a decent 3x3 nosing a doe and acting stupid.

There are no pigs in 37B. It's a myth. I thought I saw one once, but it was just my X wife.

There are worse jobs than driving around all day in a brand new truck looking at deer. -
November 30, 2005 SEATTLE --A man has pleaded guilty to trespassing in connection with a fatal horse-sex case. James Michael Tait, 54, of Enumclaw, was accused of entering a barn without the owner's permission. Tait admitted to officers that he entered a neighboring barn last July with friend Kenneth Pinyan to have sex with a horse, charging papers said. Tait was videotaping the episode when Pinyan suffered internal injuries that led to his death. Tait pleaded guilty Tuesday and was given a one-year suspended sentence, a $300 fine, and ordered to perform eight hours of community service and have no contact with the neighbors. The prosecutor's office said no animal cruelty charges were filed because there was no evidence of injury to the horses.
