Yeah, I feel better with more points, but it don't really matter as much as it used to. Everyone now has 1-2 points for everything. I drew a rifle Lope tag with 1 point and a archery Lope tag with 1 point, yet I didn't draw a unit 33 October tag last year and two other times since 2001.

BCOOVER - We have no record of your application. There is a $20 charge for attempting to use the system without a valid application. To have the charges withdrawn form your checking account, push any key now, or simply hang up. Thank you for calling the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

Seems the G&F could save a lot of heartache and probably alot of money too if they would stop farming out the draw process to outside sources. Hire a team of programmers to come in and set up the system in house. Once up and running, the programmers would not be needed full time, just before and during the draws to make sure everything is running smoothly. It would be an additional expense upfront, but would pay for itself over time because they would not have to pay the fee to the 3rd party twice a year. And to keep the annual server melt down from happening during the last few days of application acceptance, they should break up the app period. Example- Those with birthdates in an even year would apply during such and such dates, those born in an odd year will apply during other dates. Party apps would go by the first hunter on the app. I know they are splitting the draw up next year, with elk and antelope first, so maybe that alone would be enough to lighten the server load.

    Scouting cam???????

I am not hanging a $200 bill on tree here in AZ. Not on public land anyway. Already had two $130 cameras stolen. I could care less about picture quality, I just want to see whats out there.

There are hunts that start on Aug 11. That would not be good if your hunt started before you received your tag in the mail.

Well, you cannot check your bonus points online or by telephone any more. That's always a sign that they are getting close.

I highly doubt the results will be out this Friday. I think they are still trying to get problems sorted out with the CC applications.

    Arizona?s Roadless Areas

Did you notice that they do support building roads in these areas in order to put out fires? That makes no sense at all. If they want to have an area left as natural as possible, then let it burn.

    Kaibab on fire!

Logging doesn't put nutrients and minerals back into the soil like fire does. Plus, there is alot of "slash" left in logging that just adds fuel to the forest floors. Don't get me wrong, I am all for responsible logging, it does help when done right, but fire is still preferable. Plus, there are trees that actually must have fire to in order for their seeds to germinate.

    Kaibab on fire!

I believe, if left alone, the forest can manage its self. That means quit putting out every little fire that starts.
  22. Coconino closed. Portions of Tonto closed. Look for more closures after the holiday weekend. Better get your cameras out while you can.

    I met Chuck Adams

Oh.. I forgot... Some of the execs at the Trading Post were talking about Nugent... I guess he wanted over $50,000 for the weekend.. PLEASE... Nugent is just annoying... I don't know about how much outside financial backing he had but I know he put his butt on the line with some BIG LOANS... From just talking to him, he seemed like a decent guy to share a camp with... he can be my "wingman" any time.. I would hunt with Adams over Nugent any day. And who cares if he had financial backing or doesn't scout for all his hunts? If I was to draw a tag in Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, etc, I sure as heck would not be able to swing the time for a scouting trip.

    Minox BD 15x58 ED Binoculars

Whoever bought them got a deal. They are going for $1000 plus now brand new. I have the exact same pair and I like them alot. I know some people have had trouble with them fitting their eyes, but they work great for me.

    excitement this PM

I went out this morning to one of my fav whitetail areas near Globe. Usually don't see many bears in this area until the pears ripen up. Every trail was loaded up with fresh bear crap. This area is cactus and junipers. There is one remote spring that I hiked into and I think a bear was using the spring trough as a bath tub. It was amazing the amount of bear tracks and crap in this area. There is another spring trough right near the road and the same thing there. Tracks and crap everywhere, even in the middle of the road. I think the big'ens are taking over the water holes and keeping everything else out. Also Looks like they are knocking over the yuccas and getting the fruit even though it is still green.
