Did you shoot a Guardian yet? I just bought a new Bear Truth, but the Guardian was my second choice. I just could not justify a $400 difference in price between the Truth and the Guardian.

Buy a Winchester or Remington and send it to Hill Country Rifles. They can do all the things you described in your description to the "stock" rifle. Then spend your savings on a better scope and mounts.

Why is there Wilderness Laws?

I think you should be calling the USFS insead of G&F. Of coarse, if you tell the G&F the violators are leaving a trail of $100 bills, they will probably be there within minutes. -
That's interesting. I wonder why the G&F never publish any of the photos?

What was Jim Zumbo thinking???
DesertBull replied to fatfootdoc's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I didn't see too many bashing him when he drew his unit 10 Elk tag, the same year the USO debacle hit, then decided to eat the tag because he disagreed with the USO lawsuit. I don't think a man should lose his livelyhood over a few poorly chosen words and especially when he almost immediatly appologized and admitted his error. He has a long history of supporting the 2nd Ammendment and hunter's rights. We have few of those types left, shame to throw one of them out over a web blog paragraph. -
I have a friend that missed it too.

So much for hunter opportunity. I knew their outrageous price increase would turn people away. Sad fact is, most parents that could not afford for everyone to apply, probably decided to not apply their kids for hunts rather than sacrifice their own application. Who the blank is going to shell out $121 dollars for a limited opp archery cow hunt?

Al Gore? I figured you for a Carp hunter. Welcome. -
Premier Reticles doesn't do that anymore. You can order those pre-calibrated reticles directly from Leupold now or send your old scope back to them. Evidently, they saw how how popular those things were and stopped Premier from doing it so they could offer it themselves.

Coues Buck Contest WINNERS
DesertBull replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
WOW, pretty good year when you consider a 112" archery buck gets bested by 7" and a 113" TYPICAL buck gets beat by 12" Congrats! -
Marshall, do not be so modest. It takes a hard working and dedicated father / husband to get through the obstacles your family has faced and overcome. Great article.

As far as the haze you noticed, were the Minox you looked through new or used? If used, possibly the person who owned them didn't clean them right? I have seen grown men, who seemed intelligent, take a pair of Swaro's and wipe the glass with their shirt sleeve! I just smile when I see that. I too had to get used to the eyecups on the Minox. For me, they work best about 2 clicks out. If you don't twist them out, your eyelashes rub against the glass and streak them up. Maybe that was the black haze? Seriously. You'll come to like the extra weight on the bigger glasses when it's windy. -
Someone explain this to me: How can Remington/Ruger/Savage etc sell a rifle, which is much more labor intensive, much more liability to sell, and probably just as much if not more in material cost, for $600 but Matthews, Hoyt, Bowtech can't put two wheels and a string on an aluminum stick for less than $700?

Are they still going to have the regular Sunrise shoot?

No question - Habitat. More hunters is not even a problem, it's a neccessity. -
If the meat was cut on a band saw, it could have alot of marrow on it. I had that problem once too.

Do you know if it is water proof? I am pretty sure I am doing a backpack hunt in Alaska this fall. This would be good thing to have, but only if it can handle rain. -

Is there any way we can look through one before buying? -
At one half the price! BTW, Bear owns the patent on single cam bows.
