I don't think it should stop any non-resident from hunting deer either. They already have a cap on everything else. Archery deer and javelina is the only thing left that we can use to plan hunts with family and friends that do not live here. The only draw I would favor is for the Kaibab, but only for crowding reasons. And the crowding is not that much better after opening weekend, as everyone has the same idea about beating the crowds. I would also favor a draw in areas that are not currently open to archery seasons, like the northern units in the winter and some of the desert units in the summer. I would love to bow hunt unit 37 in the summer. Everytime I write the Dept about it, they say the deer numbers won't support it, but yet they give out 700 rifle tags?

It's just elk and antelope. The REAL drawing, for deer, isn't until July. Elk hunting is just something you do to pass time until deer season rolls around.

There has been a lot of complaining about the number of people on the Kaibab during archery season. I could see them going to a draw for that. I would probably go for that hunt if I knew there would 1/4 as many people up there.

Try throwing a salt block down in front of the camera to get the deer to stop in front of it. The warmer it is, the harder it gets for the cam to "see" the deer, so the longer they are in front of it the better chance you have of getting a pic.

I don't understand all feelings about too many people wanting to hunt. Sure, it makes it hard get a decent tag, but on election day and when we are calling for people to send messages to those in charge about hunting related issues, we need as many voices as possible. You can't have it both ways. Kind of like the people that want to hunt public land for free but don't want anyone else in their spot. I do understand the concern about rising prices though. The G&F are likely to keep raising the price until it has an effect on applicant numbers.
