You can go to the main G&F office in Phoenix and ask to view the draw results data base. You have to fill out a "request for public information", so I don't know if you can purchase it over the phone. They will also sell you a full copy of these results for every species, that way you take it home and study the units before you apply. I purchased one this year. Is this something that you have to go to the main office for? Or has anyone tried to call and buy it over the phone? It seems like I have seen one of these before but it has been a while. I wouldn't mind purchasing the results as long as it wasn't an arm and a leg in cost. Yes you can purchase it. The last time I bought it, it was $75 for the full printout. -
Great glass on a crap tri-pod is a waste of good glass.

50 lbs is plenty. Just get an arrow / BH combo that flies straight and have fun. I like the slick tricks broadheads but have always liked the good old fashioned NAP Thunderheads too. Muzzys are good too. You should probably avoid mechanical heads though. I like Beman and Easton arrows, but all of the popular ones are just as good. Main thing is to get it matched to the draw weight and draw length of the shooter.

IMO, the Minox are a great value as are the high end Pentax SP's. The SP's for your neck and the Minox 15's for sit down glassing would be a great combo at many less $$ than a full set of "Top 3" glass. Plus, if you decide to upgrade to the Big 3 later, you can get a good return of your investment by selling them. They hold their value pretty well on the used market, if you take care of them. Sidenote - If you need someone to review / test the tripler, I will be doing alot of scouting for clients as well as myself (got an antelope tag - woo hoo!) in the next few weeks. I would be willing to write up an article with photos and you can trust me to send it back when I'm done.

My Visa transactions show up online instantly. Here is my guess, and it's only a guess, on how they working the charges. I applied online for my tags within a few hours of when they first brought it online. Jan 13th I think? I was one of the first apps into the sytem and my card was charged last Wed, one of the first ones charged I think. I have a friend that applied on the last day, Feb 13th. He was just charged yesterday. So, it is possible that they charge you in the order that they received the application. Maybe? Who knows, just post the friggen results all-friggen-ready!

Instead of a waiting period, I prefer the way Utah does it. Apply for Deer OR Elk, but not both. I know Utah also has a waiting period, but to me those have minimal effect on drawing odds. It only keeps people from drawing back to back, which is just a feel good thing. If you had to choose between deer and bull elk or sheep and antelope, everyones odds would improve, I think. Especially with the way the internet apps are (easy and cheap). If I get one decent to very good tag every 2-3 years, that is good enough for me. I archery hunt and like to hunt bear too, so I will always have some hunts lined up. I really don't want a lope, elk and deer tag in the same year. I can't put in the time each tag would deserve and it could go to someone who would could give it 100%. -

You can request a printed copy of the entire drawing database from the G&F. If they were going to "fluff" the numbers, seems like they would fluff them downward as a way to justifiy another price increase. If they inflate the number of actual apps, how do they account for the missing $7.50 app fee per false applicant? -
There was a confirmed sighting of some hogs on the strip last year. I have also heard rumors about some in the Blue Ridge Res. area.
