  1. Some more mule deer bucks. The cams I have on the Coues trails and salt licks are not getting any action yet.

    Young muley bucks

Mine is a Moultrie also. 3.1 MP I believe. You can get them for $70-80 on Ebay.

    Unit 37B, Any Deer left?

I'm not familiar w/ the west part of the unit, but have found the opposite of this to be true. It took me seven or eight trips to find my first herd of pigs this year, but I saw deer every day. Of course, this was also the first year I hunted that unit. I usually have to kick pigs and bobcats out of my way as I'm stalking bucks down there.

    Unit 37B, Any Deer left?

Of those units you listed, your best strategy would be to choose either the 33 or 32 late hunt as 1st choice, and 37B as 2nd.
  6. Trespassing deer hunters get $98K from rancher in AZ. Of coarse, they played the "race card". http://www.svherald.com/articles/2007/05/2...c0716009299.txt
  7. When they say opportunity, what they really mean is the opportunity to sell more tags, kill less deer, and appease the huggers.

    Unit 37B, Any Deer left?

There are more pigs than deer, without a doubt. Almost major every wash has a herd.

    Unit 37B, Any Deer left?

The black hills area gets hammered by not only deer hunters, but bird, pig, varmint hunters, dirt bike riders, quads, etc. Get off the beaten path in the southern and northern areas of the unit to find more deer. The bigger bucks are in the huge cholla patches (flat).

    An idea on hunt opportunity

You are not guarenteed a tag now, but I would bet big $$$ that there would be a lot of left over Oct deer tags (like there used to be) if hunters were forcedto choose between elk and deer on their original application.

    Why tags fees are increasing

Many other states have different prices for Bull / Cow. New Mexico has different prices for Bull / Cow and standard / high demand tags in addition. 4 different prices for elk. You pay the highest cost then get refunded the difference if you are drawn for the lesser tag. If you apply online, like 70% of the people do now anyway, it's not an issue.

    Why tags fees are increasing

I will say this about the fee increases: No way should a unit 10 early rifle bull tag cost the same as an archery unit 17 limited opportunity cow tag. Why can't they break up the prices to more reflect the actual worth of the tag? Is a unit 6A October Coues tag worth as much as a unit 33 December tag? Not in my book. I'm not saying they are over priced, just not priced correctly IMO, that's all.

    This is bullcrap

They said he did, he said he didn't. Plus, it's not against the law to be racist, it's only stupid. Evidently, they were on his deeded land also. They did not even get a ticket for trespassing, yet they end up almost $100,000 richer, for breaking the law. Welcome to America

    An idea on hunt opportunity

I think some people get more satisfaction out of the draw process than actually getting drawn for a tag. I, myself, would rather see my odds improve drastically for one good hunt per year, than apply for 10 tags I have little chance at drawing. As a person who would much rather hunt deer than elk, I could see deer draw odds improve greatly if we had to choose either elk or deer to apply for, but not both. I get no satisfaction what so ever out of applying for tags, only drawing them.

    An idea on hunt opportunity

I would be all for it, except that like mentioned above, G&F would never do it because of dollars. Actually, I would prefer a modification of Utah's method. Antelope or Sheep plus Deer or Elk

    Coues Snack?

I think with water as scarce as it is right now, they will chew on anything with moisture.

    Can you say OUCH!!

Oil is sold on the open market. It cost what refineries are willing to pay. They bid against each other for the product. There is no oil store where Exxon sells their oil at a fixed rate. 10 years ago China, India, South America, etc were not driving cars and had little to no industrial sector to their economy. Today, these economies are growing at uncontrolled rates (mostly because American companies are being forced overseas by high taxes, stifling environmental regulations, and high priced labor). These new economies need energy and other natural resources. Did you know that steel prices have risen even more that fuel? Same with aluminum. Are the steel companies "out to get us" too? China is buying all the steel that get their hands on. That drives up the price. Know why China is buying? Bridges, roads, factories, etc. When those are complete, they will be demanding even more oil / gas than they are now. Energy prices are not coming down. Todays prices ARE THE GOOD OLE DAYS. Bingo. Last week the EPA shut down 3 refineries. 2 more were shut down to make the switch to "summer blend", also a product of ridiculous Gov't over regulation. Where is the gas coming from when 10% of the nations refining capacity is on "summer maintainence"? Our gas consumption is up ~30% in the last 25 years. Our refining capacity is up only 3% and that is from improved refining methods, not more refineries. The treehumpers think that ethanol is the answer. Well, right now it takes more energy to distill a gal of ethanol than it gives back. If I were the president of Mexico, I would be building refineries right across the US border. Giving a much needed boost to their economy, actually creating jobs that could lure people INTO their country, and stop the exodus. They have as much or more oil in Mexico than many of the ARAB nations. Yet they don't take advantage of it. They would rather send their people over here to work for $3.00 / hour and risk their lives crossing the desert to get here.

    Can you say OUCH!!

Good for them. They have a product that is in high demand and limited supply, has high overhead cost to produce and deliver, and highly regulated by the Gov't. They took the risk of buying up oil rights when crude was selling at less than $20 / bbl. Now, it is closing in on $70 / bbl and they are reaping the rewards of their investment. They employee thousands of people with good paying jobs and good benefits. If our Gov't was operated as well as Exxon, we would all be a lot better off. As a stockholder, I would be ticked off beyond belief if they sold their product at below market value. Can you say brainwashed? Who decides market value? High demand maybe, but not limited suppy! C'mon Desert bull wisen up.
