How Do We Make Changes in AG&FD?????
DesertBull replied to m77's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
"Money talks and something else walks" as the old saying goes. Boycott might be the only answer. 1 year of license / tag sales at an 80% decline might get their attention. -
How Do We Make Changes in AG&FD?????
DesertBull replied to m77's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
1st step...elect a new Governor -
As far as using attractants go, I think that is way overblown. As an example, assume a mountain you hunt is in prime Coues habitat. On that mountain, there might be 3-5 places all the deer on that mountain can get water year around. Yet, they can get food just about anywhere on the mountain. So, is it more ethical to hunt a pile of corn, which the deer do not need to survive, or the water hole(s), which every deer on the mountain will visit on a regular basis? Just a point to consider.

For the record, I do not have anything against guides or the hunters that use them either.

A camera looks at a 50 sq ft area on the surface of the earth. 10 paid guides using planes, trains and automobiles to scour every square inch of land is quite different, in my opinion. At least the hunter using cams has to take his own time and money to purchase, hang and maintain them. It takes some effort on the hunters part, unlike sitting at home waiting on "the call".

Draw for Archery Deer from now on....
DesertBull replied to muley's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Here's an even better idea. If you don't like bait, don't use it. If you don't like salt, don't use it. If you don't like "silly spy cams", don't use them. I don't like mechanical broadheads, therefore I don't use them, but I don't try and tell others not to. I don't like big, stinky, noisy diesel trucks, therefore, I don't drive one, but I don't tell others not to. I don't shoot doves, because I think they taste like poo, but I don't tell others not to. See the pattern? I agree that they should leave the archery hunts alone, and also let hunters choose the way they wish to hunt without more rules and regulations. There is no reason they cannot do it on a quota system like the OTC bear hunts. -
Dove hunt turns into archery deer hunt!

ROAD HUNTERS! -
You should have whipped the 12 ga out from behind the back seat and walked right up to the deer doll and blown it's head off.

Just go pick some. If the cops stop you, tell them your name is Lark, from Queen Creek. -

I wonder if you have to draw a "fruit tag"? -
Well, I have never killed one that big, so it would thrill me to arrow one like that. I guess if I had already killed a bull of that caliber, it would easier to pass.
-
I did not mean it disrespectful Younghunter and you're right he is a great bull no matter where he is located but say I had an archery tag in Unit 10, 9, or 8 I would pass him for hopes of something a little bigger. Phil Even this year? It's been terribly dry in unit 9 and 10 for 2 years. I don't think there is anyway I could pass up that bull, no matter what unit.

#%$*&# Camera thief's strike for the 3rd time
DesertBull replied to Big Browns's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
That stinks, but no need to quit hunting that great buck. Getting him would make me forget all about the camera. -
Outstanding! Is the only Coues tagged by over the weekend? I expected to see more. I know I struck out.

Unless the store has your string/cable in stock, you'll have to wait 7-10 for a new one, no matter where you take it. I just had new Winners Choice put on my bow and it took 10 days.
-
I tried to get a new string there. The guy didn't know how to put it on and they had the exact same bow for sale on their rack behind the counter. The exact quote from the guy was, "This thing has 3 cables? Never seen that before." It actually has 2 cables and a string. It was a Hoyt/Reflex Bow with the Slam and 1/2 cam system. Not exactly a unpopular bow.

Sweet! 1st blood!

I sat on stand from 5:30 to 12:00 and didn't see squat. Some cattle found my salt lick however and crapped all over it and my blind. Range maggots.

Good luck. I have to work tomorrow.

Choice Of Words
DesertBull replied to GameHauler's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Please do not take this as bashing your thread, I COMPLETELY understand where you are coming from, but this is my view- Political Correctness is like penetrating oil. If you allow it to, it will gravitate into every nook and cranny of our lives. We harvest corn. We kill animals. If someone gives you grief about it, just look at their shoes, their belt, their car seats, their diet, their medications, their makeup, etc.... No one on this planet lives a life completely free of KILLING other living things. -
Good luck, hope you get him. I'm still looking for one at least that big in 18A.

If he had 10 rubbers in his pocket, they probably would have given him an achievment award.
