BLACKTAIL/BLACK BEAR COMBO ANYONE?
DesertBull replied to mattys281's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Definitely interested if I don't draw anything. I only put in for primo deer and elk hunts in AZ, NM, and UT. and I drew AZ antelope last year, so possibility is good that I will not draw also. Where are you hog hunting. I've been a couple times in CA and it is a BLAST. -
Who gives a rip about the score, that is a great looking buck.

New Mexico Welfare Reform
DesertBull replied to Kevin's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Good point. I am not advocating that this is a good program, I just wanted to make sure we knew they were not giving away free tags. -
Hey, that is pretty cool. Expecially for me because I hunt and scout by myself a lot. POlus, my wife always makes me draw her a map of where I am going to be, that gets real annoying. BTW, your website looks really good. I enjoy reading it.

I don't think they are talking about deer, elk, antelope tags. Just the general hunting and fishing license that NM residents have to buy to hunt small game, birds, etc. -

DesertBull replied to cjw2222's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Thats just it though. They have been going to that ranch for 5 years straight and never bagged more than one 105 incher a year. this year was just exceptional. Must be those new hormones and steroids i read about ;) Must be hunting the Rafael Palmerio Ranch? -

If you are on assistance, how do you afford the gun, ammo, and gas to go hunting? It's much cheaper to go to the store and buy some grub. The $8 for a box of 12 ga would buy a days worth of food for one person if you are a thrifty shopper. What if you buy the shells, borrow a gun, go hunting and don't get squat? You're out $8 and still have no food. Not very cost effective if you ask me. I guess it would be feasible if you lived in a area where you could walk to the fields and gets some rabbits, ducks or quail, etc and not have to buy a tank of $3.00 gas. -

AWESOME! What happened to his front leg? I have heard of eating the heart of your kill, but not the kneecaps. -
Anyone else have this happen?!
DesertBull replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Took my son on a cow elk hunt in unit 9. Had 1.5 days to hunt because of other committments. In the 1.5 days we glassed up 20+ pigs, a dozen or so antelope, a few deer, 17 bulls......and ONE cow. -
Anyone here subscribe to Hunting Illustrated?

I just checked my mail and there it was In all it's glory Waiting for me to devour it, cover to cover. My Victoria Secret's catalog -
Not sure how many here have actually hunted both the Rez and Mexico, but I'll ask anyway. Which is the bigger value. Not the cheapest (I already know that answer), but the most bang for the buck. Is the hunting on a average Mexican ranch worth 2x-3x times the cost and hassle of gun permits, insurance, check points, etc compared to a $1500 - $2,000 San Carlos late season tag?

I'm scared I'll end up in Juarez Prison as someone's pale skinned senorita.

I guess it was just my turn.....

Oh, okay. Then it could have been taken any time after your last visit and before your most recent one. I guess I had assumed that you had just killed your other buck there, as well. That said, I sure can't imagine the thief being stupid enough to then put a salt lick close by, knowing you would probably be back to retrieve your stuff and perhaps run into him. -TONY But...thieves are stupid, that's why they are thieves, because they ARE stupid. -
I would name one them Tamale and the other Chimichanga.

Decent-Pentax Yes, when your budget is $200, you get $200 worth of glass.
-
I bought a pair of Vortex Diamond Backs for $230. Very nice glass for that price. Not sure if Cabela's sells them or not though. You can get a decent pair of Pentax HR's for around $200.

Anyone here into it? Might be time to invest in a metal detector, as gold is almost $900 an ounce as of today. A couple of good nuggets might get me an Alaska trip or a new pair of Swarovski's!

I have found the best option for me is to pack all the food (stuff you will not be packing back out) on the last scouting trip and stashing it. I know you will be making several scouting trips, so once you lock down a spot, you can bring in a little at a time. Make sure you stash it REAL good though, because if you get there on opening day and your stuff is gone, you're going to be very unhappy and the coyotes will be very fat, thanks to you! The upside is, you can pack in some stuff like canned stew, chili, bottled water etc, that you wouldn't be able to if you were packing it all in one trip. The only thing NASTIER than those freeze dried meals are MRE's. Maybe it is because I once ate those things everyday for 7 months straight, but I cannot choke them down. You can smash down the empty cans and cut up the water bottles for the pack out and save space.

Lookup the success rates for AZarchers. typically around 5-8%, so don't get discouraged. It took me longer than 5 years. One hint that gets me closer to the deer. Don't start your stalk until the buck has bedded down. -
Happy Birthday Red Rabbit

Happy birthday! FYI - Geritol and Depends are on sale at Walgreens! -
Anyone know a taxi, preferably in the valley or close by, that uses beetles to clean up skulls?
