Whoa! That's a big'un. Kodiak?
-
It took me 90 minutes to drive from Queen Creek to Tempe this morning. I'll take a little cold and snow over bumper to bumper any day.
-
Do you think we will know the AZ elk and Antelope draw results before the NM deadline to apply (April 9th)? It would be nice to know if I got lucky in AZ before applying for a $700+ tag I might not get full use of if I draw both states.
-
Awesome! I would have dumped the hide and guts on the Swarm's doorstep.
-
Hopefully, it will still be legal to do so.
-
I'll do you guys a favor and drop out of the Antelope tag lottery this year. 2 gun tags in 6 years is enough.... FOR NOW! BWAAHAHAHAAA!

Larry Voyles named new director of Arizona Game and Fish Department

Isn't it the Commission that really wields the power? They're the ones pushing opportunity, the G&F Dept are just their soldiers. -

Come on man, he hasn't even made one decision yet and we are running him down? -
Ever take a crap so big your pants fit better?

In my limited experience, you generally get what you pay for. Cheap = Cheap

Operation Bear Bones
DesertBull replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Now there's a good attitude. Is it the game and fish's fault for the small fines? Are they the ones that set these rates? Do you think that they feel this is what the bad guys deserve? No is the answer to all those questions. It is our marvelous court system that sets these fines, you know those judges that we all vote in. The Game and Fish has no say in what a guy gets charged. Additionally this is on the criminal side of things. These people are still going to face civil assessments in front of the commission. This has the probability to bring alot heftier fines along with revocation of hunting and fishing privilidges. Anyway, it is pretty disappointing to hear all these responses from sportsmen. When fingers should be pointed at those who committed the crimes all you can do is again blame the game and fish for doing a poor job when they did their job and our court system is the one that let them off. VERY DISAPPOINTING Packer I agree, it's the courts, but if you read the document you will see that the Commission has already acted on several of the cases. Biggest fine was $1500. -
Bonus points question
DesertBull replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I agree. Just put everyone's name in the hopper and pull them out. If you don't get a tag, oh well, come back next year and try again. Works for NM and Idaho. The bonus point system, by itself wasn't so bad, but then they started making it more and more complicated, multiple drawings, et, etc. Kids and young people just starting out are the ones getting screwed. -

Operation Bear Bones
DesertBull replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Unbelievable! Most of the charges dropped and the biggest fine was $1500. One guy got off with a $25.00 fine. That's cheaper than buying a bear tag. -
That's my goal too, if I do not draw an elk or rifle deer tag. Get a bear and another (bigger) Coues buck with my bow.
-
They let rifle hunters on the Fain now. Too bad.
-
Awesome.

You can go to the Outdoorman's in Cave Creek and try them all out side by side.

Logging the Tongass NF

If you ever make it up there, you will see the real crime of devastation belongs to those that live on the reservations. They have cut nearly every tree on their land. -
IF you have the $$$ for the Swarovski, it's a no brainer. The Minox will be inferior in every aspect, but for $700 they are a great value. I've glassed many many deer, elk, antelope, pigs etc with mine and they are as good or better than 95% of the glass you can buy. The 5% they are inferior to are the Leica, Zeiss, and Swarovski's.

I've been through a lot of tripods in the last 3-4 years. I finally found one I like. I good compromise between the heavy Bogen's and the cheaper lightweight models. It is very steady in the wind, has lever locks instead of the twist kind and is fairly light, but not too light as to shake and vibrate in a breeze. It's a Bogen also, which is very well constructed. http://www.eagleoptics.com/index.asp?pid=4883 I put the Bogen 700RC head on it. Smooth and easy to use and again, not too heavy. If you have the money, you can get the Outdoorsman's stuff, which is second to none, but I found this to be good enough for me.

BLACKTAIL/BLACK BEAR COMBO ANYONE?
DesertBull replied to mattys281's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I would not go unless we were packing. The areas close to roads get hammered. -
BLACKTAIL/BLACK BEAR COMBO ANYONE?

I hunted the Tejon Ranch. You can't tell it's a ranch though, it's the size of Rhode Island. 1/4 million acres and only one hour North of LA. I know a few guys over there that have done the same deer/bear hunt. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/index....=117861&hl=
