You must of hit something important if he laid down within 40 yards of the shot. Was it dark blood, like kidney or liver? That's a certain death, albeit not instant. I'll bet he does not last long in this heat. He might try to go to water. When you lose a lot of blood, you get really thirsty and dehydrated. I would try again this evening. Even if you jump him again, it might get the blood flowing again.

Killer eye guards on that buck.

The DC100 needs to be plugged in with the AC adapter to finalize. It won't finalize if you are just using battery power. It does that so that you will not run out of battery in the middle of the operation and ruin your DVD. -
AWESOME! Make your Dad get you a full life sized mount!

Where to buy Matthews Switchback XT???
DesertBull replied to mattobertin's topic in Optics and tripods
I am in Queen Creek. I used go to archery HQ all the time when I was a kid but now they seem too dang busy every time I go in. Great for them they are good guys who know there stuff but bad for me the customer. Maybe I need to give them another shot. I have been to Bear mountain quite a bit and have had pretty fair service there but sometimes it seems like i am putting a burden on them by bringing them business?? I had the same experience at Bear Mountain. After standing at the counter for 10 minutes while some ol grouchy dude was yelling at some other old grouchy dude on the phone, he put his hand over the phone, looked at me and said, "What do YOU want?" I said, "Well, I DID want that Tikka .270WSM" turned around and walked out. -

Sunday Morning Go To Meeting Buck
DesertBull replied to standman's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Wow, what a year so far! That buck is SUPER! -
If YOU like him, shoot. If YOU don't, then pass. Can't get much simpler than that.

There are now OTC spring bear tags as well as the draw tags. This one will be wearing my arrow.
-
The 3 bears I was watching all spring and summer left the canyon they were in, right before the season started. Now, with OTC tags for 2009, I can start hunting them in March and April, instead of Aug.

Passed a couple of decent bucks waiting on this one

I do. I have a blind on the down hill side and a tree stand on the uphill. It is really steep and the thermals are strong, so I have to switch when the thermals change.

I think these might be some pics of this same buck from last year. This is 2nd best buck that is traveling the trail my stand is on Sat in the stand for 14 hours in the last two days.....still waiting. Flippin' HOT too. There are a ton of acorns in the burn higher up on the mountain, above my tree stand. I wonder if they are holed up in there? No way to hunt them if they are, the oak brush is impenetrable and no trees to hang a stand.

Obama does not even know how many states are in the USA. He said he's been to all 58. He must be thinking of African countries, his real passion. -

can't argue with the farmer's almanac

That's sort of like the when the native americans used to burn buffalo poo for their fires. Probably smells the same too. -
SWEET! Was that a general season hunt or an LE?

Some loser with no job probably went and counted every friggen post. -
That is interesting. This water I have been watching is right in the middle of PRIME coues deer habitat. T have yet to get a single deer at this water hole, even though it is the only permanent water within 2 miles and I have glasses many deer in the canyon.
-
easy fix, quit putting them on water. 99% of water in AZ is man made or at least, man maintained. That means a trail, road, or two-track leads to the water. even if no motor access, it is very likely that the water is listed on a map.

Dang...this is messed UP! To each his own.

I've been watching 4 bears at water up high in 22 all spring and summer and a week before the opener, they left. I assume they went low to look for fruit. Frustrating to say the least, as I had put a lot blood, sweat and gas money into bagging one of them. Not to mention that it is a two hour hike through a pot farm and nasty brush to get to the bottom of the canyon where they were hanging.

If you plan on possibly using it in states that do not allow sabots, stay away from the Omega. They do not seem to like conicals, although I'm sure you could get one to shoot them if you worked at it. I believe you can still shoot the Savage, just load it with blackpowder substitute instead of smokeless. I've heard they shoot great. I like Knights, but I want to get a White too. You can get them once in a while in the classifieds on MM or Modern Muzzleloaders.
