The water method is EXACT. In fact, it will account for even smallest crevice or irregularity. Measuring is not exact because no two people will measure it the exact same way. That said, I'm with Bill on this. I wish they wouldn't measure or score at all.
-
the easist way to measure volume of an object is to submerse it in water and measure the amount of water it displaces.

The 190 stiffens up when you shorten the legs and center column.

I would much rather carry the extra weight of a good tripod than save a pound on something that is less effective. Either way, you are walking to the top of the mountain, might as well have something that works in the wind when you get there. I took a Bogen 190 tripod and cut about 4" off each leg section and about 3" off the center column. Then I got a 700RC head and cut off about 1/2 of the arm. http://cgi.ebay.com/Bogen-Manfrotto-3205-1...id=p3286.c0.m14 http://cgi.ebay.com/Manfrotto-Bogen-700RC2...id=p3286.c0.m14

You could always just call one of the numbers in the phone or check the email.

When the guy shot, you should of let out a bugle and crashed and thrashed on the ground. Maybe the guy would have thought he scored. When he comes over to claim his prize, you kick him in the sack.

You can get great coupons for this place at restaurants.com

I did the same thing. Just took apart the legs, sawed off about 4" off each section and reassembled.

It would help if everyone left the bugle calls at home. Nothing says, "Here come the hunters", like a few dozen road bugles on opening morning.

The elk in 7W are just trying to survive. There is no grass in most areas and water is scarce. Every tank with water has multiple blinds on it. I saw several cows with their ribs showing. I saw cows eating pine needles off the trees. When there is no feed, the cows do not cycle. With no hot cows, rutting is minimal. We had two days of decent bugling, nothing special though and it ended very early in the morning. It's not supposed to be 50 degrees at 5:00 am and 70 at 10:00 am on an elk hunt.

Saw the same thing while bear hunting 2 years ago. Lightning exploded a juniper across the canyon from me with flaming branches falling out of the sky. Awesome to see.

Is the gun safe the only thing they took? If so, sounds like they knew it was there and what was in it.

Health Care Bill Info from congress
DesertBull replied to az4life's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Besides the military, those are all local and state agencies. Not bloated, inefficient, fraudulent federal programs. I'm all for the 10th Amnedment. Give it back to us. And if you have never been in the military, I will tell you straight out, the waste that goes on there is unbelievable. Whether you believe it the Gov't job to provide for each person, cradle to grave or not, the fact is we as a nation are bankrupt and cannot afford to be the world's general practitioner. -

1. Name one Congress person that has not accepted money from the medical profession. I believe Pelosi is on the hook for nearly $200,000 2. LOL at people thinking the USFS is "big Gov't". the USFS and park system is a drop in the bucket compared to asking the American people to fund healthcare for not only our our citesens, but everyone that is "pretending" to be a US citizen. The Park Syatem isn't trying to control your life. Look up survival rates of Candian and other socialist healthcare plan's cancer patients compared to US. Show me in the Constitution where cheap healtcare is a civil right. It's probably written right under the part about being able to kill your baby. -

What they don't tell you is that they deny treatment to old people that are not "producers". Name me ONE big gov't program that is a success. Just one, that is not on the verge of bankrupting this country. Then tell me why universal health coverage will be different. I would rather have ZERO coverage than Gov't controlled, gov't mandated coverage of any kind. -

Sounds like a great middle ground between a crossbow and a "normal" bow. Would be great for those that still want to shoot a bow instead of a crossbow. Most states don't have a crossbow season and those that are forced to use one are relegated to firearms seasons with their crossbow. Now, these people can hunt the regular archery only seasons. That's a good thing, IMO. P&Y, B&C, SCI, etc are about 101,102 & 103 in my top 100 list of important things.

Buck fever or butt fever?

Animals don't die with their eyes closed. If you walk up on a "dead" animal and it's eyes are closed. Call me before you pick it up......so I can get it on video.

I am going to 5Bsouth on the 8th for my cow hunt....pretty dry huh....I heard there is a large concentration of ELK hanging around and in Mormon lake....watering and keeping cool. Hope they are not all concentrated up there. Guess we'll all be fighting over what water holes there are left. I saw appx 150 elk at Mormon Lake on Friday at about 2:00 pm. There was quite a crowd of spectators watching from the road.

Mullin's Got it done in a big way!

I already heard the story and the score. I'll just say that if I shot a bull 100" smaller during my upcoming archery elk hunt, I would be a happy SOB.
