Your avatar says you are from Mesa. Is that true? Most of the people that talk to sheep are from Tucson. Their conversation usually starts with.."Hey, how you doin?" Don't forget about the Mesa fire chief that was caught in a neighbors barn molesting sheep He wasn't molesting it. He was helping over the fence.

See if you can get guide service only, minus the camp, food etc. That will save you some money.

Ok, instead of starting a new thread I will bring this back to the top. I am also looking for a good 'smith to do a barrel crown and bed a stock. Possibly install a muzzlebrake. Valley would be nice, but always looking for an excuse to head to higher elevation. -

This might come in handy when you are tent camping and your partner scarfed down a 1/2 dozen Burger House Burritos on the way to camp.

Leica used to own Minox. They did all the engineering but the MFG was done in Japan to lower cost. Minox spun off as their own brand when Leica was having cash flow problems several years ago. The glass is top notch. The eye cups are not. They are large and hard and can be uncomfortable. The clarity and brightness of the glass is very good. They are heavy and big, but sometime heavy is not so bad...like when its windy. The MSRP of Minox 15's has always been around $1,000, but the street price was been between $600 and $700 since the beginning. I bought a pair the first year they came out and paid $650 from Bear Basin in California.

He scores about 3 burritos, 1/2 lb of jerky, and 4 burgers. Heck, just take a bag of tortillas in your pack and eat him where he falls.

I'll take the first week while the bulls are still trying get their cows herded up and they are hitting the water every evening like clockwork. Just because they are not screaming does not mean they are not out cruising for chicks.

Last year the hunt started almost a week later than this year. It was dry and hot and the elk were not doing much the 1st week. Around the 21st of Sept, they started sounding off but it was still weak and they would shut up right at dawn. They were pounding water though. With this years hunt starting early, I would sit water every evening. In the mornings you can still call them in, but they might come in silently. The bulls are looking for cows, even if they are not bugling. I think it's easier to call them in before they get a herd of cows rounded up too.

Buffalo give humans more stuff to shoot and eat. More stuff to shoot and eat leads to more hunters. More hunters leads to more guns. More guns leads to more pro-gun voters and we just can't have that.

I would call Hatch. He can at least get you in the right area and give you some good contacts to call. It's a huge area and not all of it holds deer. If you are not in a good area, you could go days without even seeing a deer. I would start buying gas cans and spare tires too. It's a long way to the gas station.

Dang man...he's taunting you.

This area holds bear all year long. It is low (mostly juniper, scrub oak and mesquite) but is very close (~1 mile) to higher elevations with pines and oaks. You can't tell it from the pics but this area is very rugged. Right now they are gorging on manzanita and some mesquite beans. There are a TON of pears, but they are very green right now. The pears down even lower in the palo verde and mesquite are starting to turn. There are quite a few deer in this area too and I'm sure they are dropping fawns pretty soon.

I was all ready to buy that exact scope until I saw the eye relief. 3.1" Fine for low recoil rifle, but not for my 7mag. I guess they were going after the varmint hunters with that one.

Nat Geo and Delorme are state by state...expert GPS is every topo and aerial photo in the country for $60 and they have free upgrades.
