Does Wizz-in-hut really think he is going to win with Derick Anderson at QB?
-
That's the way I look at it too. 90 out of 100 people would not be able to tell a nanny from a billy anyhow. To me it's about the adventure of hunting mountain goats, not if the goat has a tallywacker or not.
-
I just looked at the draw odds for Utah Mnt goat. I have enough points to get a tag next year, for nanny. It took 7 points last season to be 100% sure of getting a tag. I have 9. The next closest billy hunt takes 11 points, which would be only 2 years away theoretically, but we all know the points creep up. Do you think I will be chasing that billy tag forever? Cash them in or wait?

Reminds me of a funny movie.. Cousin Eddy - "That's something ain't it? She falls in a well, eyes go crossed. She gets kicked by a mule, they go back to normal." -
Crap, I am all out of granola.

Those top units are super long odds, even if you have max points. Like less than 3%, even if you have max points. All it would take is for a couple of hard winters, a disease outbreak, etc and tag numbers could fall and set you back even more. Then again, a series of easy winters and tag numbers could go up.

Yeah, it's the Willard Peak nanny hunt that took 7 points last year. 11 for the Billy. Everything I have read about the goat hunts is that it's really hard to tell the difference between a billy and a nanny, so I'm thinking what's the difference hanging on my wall?

Mt Peeley, across the Beeline from Ord, gets less pressure.

Digital zoom is almost worthless. It's the same looking at one of your photos on the computer and zooming in with your mouse. The more you zoom in, the less quality the picture. There are a lot of websites that have pretty in depth reviews of camcorders.

Truthfully, Ord gets hammered. There is an exit sign on the beeline that says Mt Ord. There are cell towers on top and a fire lookout, which means the road to the top is graded and repaired regularly. I've seen Toyota Prius and low rider Honda Civics all the way to the top. Two years ago they had a Mnt Bike race on Ord on opening day of rifle deer. Then there are the pot growers....but that's another story. Are there deer there? Absolutely. Are there many hunters, tofu eaters, photographers, campers, hikers, runners, etc. Absolutely. If you don't mind the competition, then by all means go for it. I was not trying to steer someone wrong or away.

Huge Lesson Learned Yesterday...
DesertBull replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
You know me, I intend to satisfy! LOL! I've got meat scattered all over my kitchen table right now that i've gotta get cleaned up before the wife gets back from church! I take your wife came home before the mess was cleaned up. RIP Jim Mullins. -
There are deer on and around Ord, but it gets hammered by rifle and bow hunters alike. Mt Ord is almost like a city park with all the hippies and Mnt Bikers up there now. There are quite a few deer in the area you have already been scouting.

Tease - to tantalize especially by arousing desire or curiosity often without intending to satisfy it. -
I like Hornady interbonds. My 7mag shoots them really well.

They suck

The pics are all over the web. My friend and I actually saw this bucks rack at the Jacob Lake Lodge when we pulled in for some gas and grub. It's impressive. Shot it with the new Ulmer broadhead.

Choosing between McCain and Heyworth is like choosing between death by firing squad or lethal injection.

On Sunday morning I saw a buck at the Jacob Lake Lodge that a hunter took in 13B. Really nice non-typ. He said they were seeing some nice bucks but "hunters" were fighting over water holes.

sweet I cannot wait for my unit 12A hunt.

I stumbled upon one a couple of years ago in 22S.

I know that some guys hang their velvet horns upside down, make tiny cuts in the tips, then inject a preservative of some sort into the vanes at the base of the antlers, forcing the blood out and replacing it with the preservative.
