  1. But wouldn't it be fun to spray cold water on them and watch them beat the crap out of each other?
  2. He is right.....you insulted the monkeys by calling them congressmen. You owe all primates an apology.

    Tree Stand Hunting

In my experience, picking the right tree is paramount. In most Coues country treestand situations, you are on a slope. Thermals are usually strong. If you place your tree on the uphill side of where you expect the deer to pass, you are pretty much limited to late morning through afternoon hunts, as the wind will be blowing up hill during normal weather once the sun rises and the air warms. It will be blowing down hill in the mornings and evenings (when deer are likely moving) If you place you stand on the down hill side, it will be a early morning late afternoon/evening stand. The problem with being on the downhill side is that you have to get WAY up the tree to be above the deer. When you go to set your stand, go at a time you think you will be hunting so you can try and judge what the thermals will be doinging. The stand I have been sitting in the last couple of years (August), you can set your watch by the thermals. It blows downhill unit 10:30 am and then swithes to uphill until 3:45. I have a tree stand on the uphill side. I hunt a ground blind at another location early and late and hunt this stand in the late morning/afternoon. I seems to have the most deer movement between 10 am and 1pm and then again right at dusk. For whatever reason, mornings are slow.

    Ballistics Info

I would not trust the factory data, even if your barrel was 24". You can buy a Chrony F1 on Ebay for ~$80. It's cheaper than giving Leupold the wrong data and having a worthless turret.

You try making some boudin sausage sometime. You cook the meat first and mix it with rice and other seasonings and then stuff it in casings. Very good. There are a ton of recipes on the web and a million variations.

    New forum for game recipes

Not a recipe, per se, but this is a fantastic cookbook. http://www.amazon.com/Texas-Cowboy-Kitchen...3133&sr=8-2 There are some game recipes (BBQ quail tamales...AWESOME) but most of the other recipes can be used for game. If you get it, try the bread and butter jalapenos. Great on burgers and sausage and as a side with beans. Another good one by the same guy. http://www.amazon.com/Cowboy-Kitchen-Recip...ader_1580080049

Your avatar says you are from Mesa. Is that true? Most of the people that talk to sheep are from Tucson. Their conversation usually starts with.."Hey, how you doin?" Don't forget about the Mesa fire chief that was caught in a neighbors barn molesting sheep He wasn't molesting it. He was helping over the fence.

    Sniffel sniffle wheep wheep

Ok, instead of starting a new thread I will bring this back to the top. I am also looking for a good 'smith to do a barrel crown and bed a stock. Possibly install a muzzlebrake. Valley would be nice, but always looking for an excuse to head to higher elevation.
