Awsome! I love that hunt. Can't wait until my youngest can go.

I took the pics a couple of weeks ago in unit 37A

Nice striped pajama's Lark. You look like you've grown a little.
-
Obviously, a MULE DEER hunter.

Unless it's rut time, If you don't get a good buck in the 1st 1-2 weeks, move the camera. Bucks don't wander much until it's THAT time. Trails leading in and out of bedding areas seem to be more productive.

That granola muncher was going to clock you with a stone.

The REAL reason for Border violence

If the billions we spend over there every year on tourism dried up, maybe their Gov't would step up efforts to police their own land. -
I have a lefty Savage 16 in .270WSM. Stainless. $450

If they were Somali pirates, the Navy Seals would have turned them into chum. Why Americans still patronize Mexico with our tourism dollars boggles my mind. -
Ebay is your friend. Lot's of people are scared of it, but I have over 250 transactions, both buying and selling, and have never been wronged. You just have to be patient, know what your max $$$ amount is and do a little research.

Had reservation about this rangefinder at first but got a great price on it. Took it out yesterday and was able to consistently get 750+ yard readings if I braced it against a tree or on top of my binocs on the tripod. $150 well spent.

Got out to the Usery Pass range this afternoon. Didn't know they changed the target range to 200 yards max. Probably won't go back now. Ranged some rocks up on the mountain at 350-415 yards are was able to dial the knob to the yardage and make little rocks out of big rocks pretty easily. Only had to make a 2 click adjustment at my 200 yard zero and was holding dead on at ~400.

Mine was a demo. No instructions, box, warranty card, etc. I probably would have passed if it was full price. Does take some practice though.

chicken fried rabbit w/ gravy Buttermilk biscuits mashed potatoes mid-western corn on the cob, right from the field, with farm fresh butter and Old Bay Seasoning. When I was a kid...Illinois rabbits trembled at the mention of my name.

It's a one revolution knob. Mine goes to 800 yards. (7 mag). I'll never shoot that far with the factory loads it was set up for. It's the stock Vortex knob, only engraved. I thought it would have the caliber and bullet etched on the knob like Kenton's but it does not. Don't really care how it looks as long as it works. Like you said though, the price was right. If it's free......I'll take three!
-
I received mine yesterday but have not had time to put it on yet. Evidently, the makers of the Huskemaw scopes are making the turrets for Vortex because the package had a Gunwerks return address.

Can't go wrong with Hornady, Marshall. Interlock or Interbond

Can't wait for October!

Are you sure you're healthy enough to hunt? You look a little pale in your avatar. -
The range warriors will be lining up for it. They'll get the cams dipped and have their custom grips and matching string on full display. Some of them will even have to make sure the bow's camo matches their socks, underwear and truck seat covers.

Do you have a stainless barrel? If so, I think you are supposed to be careful using ammonia based cleaning agents. It could cause pitting. You should not have to use every time you clean. If your barrel is getting that fouled every time you shoot, you might have another issue. Maybe try moly coated bullets?

topo maps are usually lacking in much road detail. Most don't have road numbers. Each topo map covers about 25 square miles so one map won't cover the entire unit. The best road maps are the national forest maps. They don't have much if any topo info though. You can get both types at Map World in Mesa, Tucson and Phoenix or their website maps4u.com

Sweets or Butch's bore shine. If that does not work, some JB bore paste will scrub it off, but don't make a habit out of using it.

Custom engraved 1. The turrets can be swapped out very easily if you change loads. 2. The altitude range is appx 2,000 ft either way. IE if you set it up for 5,000 feet it's good for 3,000 - 7,000 ft. 3. You could get them engraved with MOA adjustments as well as clicks and be able to make adjustments to temp, altitude, etc without getting a new one. Besides, it gives you an excuse to set up a new rifle if you don't wish to change turrets. New rifles are good.
