Oh please dont play the poor pitiful kids crap. if your kids dont get drawn its 100% because of you. every hunter who gets a tag can pass that Tag to there kids (best rule ever made). I've passed every tag I have gotten to my kids since the law, before the law if I got drawn I let them shoot it. but hey that's me early bull lopes north rim deer tags etc etc if I ever get a ram tag they will get it. the problem is most parents are selfish. they only put in cow or youth hunts, or doe hunts for there kids if they even put them in.. just like the bass fishing tourny. crowd oh yeah they take there kids BLUEGILL fishing from shore BFD instead of bass fishing like their parents. kids dont want that crap they want to hunt/fish just like there dads and put stuff on the wall just like there dads. and there cheap they dont want to spend a 135 on there kid they will be happy with a general squirrel tag save the good tags for me I have more fun watching my kids hunt or friends kids hunt than me hunting. its a hoot and its always successful whether they tag out or not. Who said poor kids? Im sure my kids weekly allowance is more than your annual income.

I got the 212 ELD-X to throw a decent group I loaded up some 5 shot groups starting at 1/2 grain higher and going up .3 grains per group than my previous best group and set the bullets a little deeper. The first 3 shots are the clover leaf at the bottom right of the group. It started walking up as the barrel got warmer. Or it could have been the guy next to me shooting some sort of earth shaking cannon that had me jumpy. 300 WM 77 grains H1000 .05 off lands

Except that you forgot to factor out the NR's. The vast majority of those 81 people (I am not pulling out my reports to verify but I seem to remember more than 50) were NR's. However there will also be a number of people with more than 11 PT's that decide to apply for this hunt next year, which always happens. I think hunters trail head seperates the NR from the residents in their odds but Yes i agree. The main point was to look at the previous years draw odds with the point total you had for that year.

With gohunt or trailhead or whatever you use, people make the mistake of looking at their current point total column when in actuality they should be looking at the previous years. If you are going into the 2017 draw with 5 points, you need to be looking at the 4 bonus point column from last years results, not the 5 point column. Unit 1 archery bull 2016 - There were 89 apps with 10 points and the draw rate for 10 points was 9.2% - 8 tags There were 22 apps with 11 points. They drew 100%. 22 tags Now, if you have 11points going into the 2017 draw and looks at this, you think you have a 100% chance at a tag. WRONG. Of the 89 apps in 2016 with 10 points, only 8 were drawn. That means 81 people are likely to apply for unit 1 with 11 points in 2017, not 22 like what happened in 2016. the actual rate for 2017 at 11 points won't be anywhere near 100%, it will likely drop below 15%.

The amax bullet is a killer. Dont let the "target" label deter you. 44 grains of IMR 4064 with the 168 Amax works great in my .308. Work up to it though. Ive also had good luck with the 180 SST WITH 44 grains of RL15

23 north is the only archery hunt that 17 points was still a long shot. The 93% of the 2015 applicants that did not draw moved up to 16 points with you. When someone tells you that you are guarenteed a tag in the bonus point system....run away.

17 should have got you any archery elk tag. Are you sure you did not accidently apply for the early rifle tag? Yes should have had any archery tag except maybe 23 N or S. There is a possibility that 3 or more other people with 17 or more points decided to put in for those hunts. Maybe people sick of putting in for rifle and trying to cash in on archery on a good year. It's possible. Not likely but possible. This is also assuming the hunt choices were the 23 hunts. Anyway.. good luck! If you put in for 23 North point creep might have beaten you. Last year all apps with 17 points were drawn but only 7% of those with 16 points were drawn. You are in that 16 point pool from 2016.
