The only thing I don't like about them is they are loud when walking on rocks. I bought some of the rubber feet from Home Depot, similar to what is on most tripod legs, and taped / glued them on the tips of my trekking poles. Helps with the noise. I prefer the aluminum models. They don't weight that much more, are cheaper and seem more durable to me than the carbon.

This bull is leading a hard life considering from where he lives he can see Fountain Hills and its mostly rock and manzanita. I've seen elk droppings here off an on over the years but never got a picture of one until now. I am at a loss at where this guy is getting water. Nothing permanent within 10 hard miles of up and down from where this pic was taken. He looks pretty ragged but they all do right now I guess as they shed their winter coats.
