check out bass pro, i found a 243 for my friend at $320. i am not sure if it was youth model but it was a remington 700 so its a accurate gun. idk if its still there for that price but check it out, make lots of calls, thats what helped me find my 223 stevens at $200. just call around. you might think of geting a 223, killed my lion at 391 yards with it, they kick like 22's

i have a gps i dont use anymore because i got a new one. ive only used it 2 or 3 times. so its basically brand new. i won a newer one shortly after getting it so i just havent used it. its a garmin e-map. last time i saw it on sale was at the sunrise 3-d shoot and they were charging 125. so i am selling it for 70 bucks. but i could probably be a little negotiateable. pm me or just comment here. i can ship or send it. or you could pick it up, its up to you. i want to get a new tripod so i am trying to get some money. its fairly thin, about 3/4 inch, which isnt too bad. would be great for a first gps or a younger kid because it is easy to use and tough

we learned about this stuff in biology, its a melanin deficiency, which is what gives color to your hair and skin. when old people get white hair ts b/c they lose melanin. people or elk with darker color hair or skin have more of its than people with light skin. like a black person to a white person

are you sure on that? it says centerfire, and 22 mag. is a centerfire. so where does it say you can not use it on deer? -
minimum caliber rifle for deer
deserthntr replied to BigBfever's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
i used a 223 for my lion, at 391 yards so it would be plenty for coues i imagine. but like they said any center fire is legal. you could use 22 mag if you wanted -

i saw that too basser and was wondering the same thing, can't figure it out

with the heavier arrow it will fly slower, but it will hit harder, idk about what arrow as i have never used any that you want, but if you are looking for speed dont get the heavier, if you want penetration then get the heavier, but if it is spined right like krp said then it is just your preference and what you want

definately practice your calling, really all you need is a couple cow calls, elk is my thing as i have been stat elk calling champ of az twice and idaho once (only tried idaho once and ended up winning) anyways i have locatd bulls with just cow calling, but this is just basic info you probably know but when you use your bugl make it weak and light, nothing heavy, you may think it will get the big bulls you want to bugle, but if you sound bigger than them they will get their cows and get out of there. go to the rmef seminar, usually in august, check out their website when it gets closer and go to it, it will help big time

i agree with every one. you could check out arizona predator callers, they are in mesa, check out there website, i know there are people who will take you out, call craig, the pres, or mike burris. they are great callers. and will know where to go, try down by globe, i have always had luck down there, but use pup in distress for sure, i will garrantee you will call one in sooner or later wth that one. but the best thing is to not get frustrated. it took me probably 15 trip to call one in. just takes time and practice

check out my post on the other big game section in the 23 rifle tag topic, same goes for you, i will show or tell you some places

i wouldnt get a guide.... there are too many great bulls in there you could find on your own to spend the money. there are plenty. and if you go to the turkey camp let me know, maybe i can show you a few spots i know you will find a decent bull. but that is just a sweet unit with tons and tons of elk, just stay up on the rim, unless you go south of young there are some 400+ bulls there, but it is really thick so it will be tough to hunt down there. i would stick up on the rim if i was you

me and my dad were helping my friend to get a javelina, his dad and mom are divorced and his dad lives in payson so my dad is basically his. we are like brothers, well we were glassing for his pig and he was trying to glass but we are just getting him in to hunting and so he hasnt learned the techniques and what to look for, this was his first big game hunt. well we were in the same spot that me and my dad got our achery pigs opening morning and we were on top of our "javelina hill". my dad soon said there was nothing on the other hillside, he left to glass somewhere else. five minutes later i found out otherwise. looking into a bush i discovered a mountain lion. i quickly told my friend and he didnt beleive me as we were teasing him all day. i told him to look and he said thats a rock, wait it moved its head its a lion its a luion. i had him go get my dad and when my dad looked at it we began the stalk. the cat was about a 1/2 mile away. we got to 400 yards and couldnt get any closer cause the cover ran out. so i got the 223 and took aim. i aimed about a foot and a half above her head and on the left of it because of wind. i squoze the trigger and she jumped, running, she stopped and i shot her again. the first was at 391 yards and we dont know the second. down she went. me and my friend went to get my bow and our packs, went to the lion and found her the last place i shot. she is about a 6 1/2 foot to 7 foot lion and weighed about 100 lbs. i shot her towards the end of january, cant remember the exact day. but here are pics

i dont know any of the disadvantages, but some of the advantages are they fly better in wind, cause of less drag and less for the wind to push on. also they fly better with broadheads i have found, but i only shot fixed blade. those are just some, enough to convince me to switch. i love them
