    Lucky bean

in elementary school we called those burn beans. we would rub them on the cement and stick them on someone and it would give them a feeling like you are getting burnt. probably just from friction but those seemed to work best

    new gun!

well i got my gun, its a 300 win mag and this past weekend i was tryin to roughly sight it in up in the mountains... i forgot my range finder. but i found out the cheapo scope i threw on so i could shoot until i get the scope i want cant handle the recoil and i cant sight it in. but i was gunna get a trigger job, a vortex 6.5-20x50 scope, and figured a scope i can actually shoot would be better to get first. but the gun kicks like a mule so i was wondering if it would be better for me to get a muzzle break. i can handle the recoil but i dont want to be shooting often and devlop a flinch. what would you guys put in order of importance? save up for a scope first? or grab a nice muzzle break and then get my scope. thanks!

    410 shotgun

i have a harrington and richardson 410 single shot shotgun for sale. it is a youth size, i actaully traded it on here but my sisters/mom dont shoot it so i am gunna sell it, i could be intersted in trades but that would be for brunton eterna 15x51, maybe riflescopes. otherwise sell for $100. will post pics if there is interest. i cans shoot it jsut fine even tho its youth size. nailed a couple bag limits of doves this past season with it.

    new gun!

its a rem 700 ADL 300 win mag, has a synthetic stock on it. the scope is a cheap simmons 3-9 power. not sure on the objective. the trigger is crisp just heavier than what i like. my dads rifles are hair triggers so thats what i grew up shooting and like them. so a trigger job will be on the asap list. but i will probably end up grabbing a timney for it. but i figure a scope or muzzle break is top on the list. ive heard that at my age, 16, its easy to develop a flinch so a muzzle break should be put on asap, but i can really shoot it unless i have a scope to shoot it with. thanks for the advice from above comments and keep them coming

    Long range, starting from scatch

i dont know much about long range but i am in the process of what you are doin. i am getting a rem 700, but savage wise ive heard alot of good reports about the 111's. havents heard much of the 114's. alot of guys will tell you its just caliber preferance. i will be getting a vortex viper scope, and talk to matthewp45, he gave me alot of good tips. he suggest i true/blueprint the action, get a cerakote, float/bed the barrel... etc. and top your scope off with kenton industry turrets. but look on backpage for a gun. i looked and there are some great prices, thats where i found my gun i am getting. just look around and you can find some sweet deals

    My dad

we also had to take a clip in to class to show everyone, so i took a coues and an elk hunting video for them to choose from and they chose the elk, i put on chapter where there was lots of missed oportunities to show them you arent just killing but are actually hunting, and that it is fair chase. i changed a few minds in that class about hunting

    My dad

well i know its way early for fathers day but i know i would forget to post this when it came up, and cowboy hunter posting his essay gave me this idea so thanks for the idea, but for kinda a last essay for english we had to combine a favorite person/ favorite thing essay into one, so hunting was of course my idea, i just thought some of you might like to read it. now my english teacher isnt a hunter so i had to explain some terms that are obvious for us. but here it is Conner Griner P.1 If you know me at all you know hunting is my life. I would rather hunt than do anything else in the world. My dad started me hunting literally as soon as I could stand up and walk, so since I was about 2 years old. My dad would take me dove hunting, which is easy for when you are taking young kids because all you really do is stand by your truck and wait for them to fly by and take your chance of dropping one out of the air with your shotgun. When I turned six, he took me on my first rifle hunt for big game, which is animals like deer, elk, bear, javelina, etc. This hunt happened to be for a deer and about 15 minutes after we left the truck my dad spotted a little spike coues whitetail, and tried to get me to be able to see it before he shot it but my inexperienced eyes couldn’t make out this grey ghost. He shot it and it ran a ways and tipped over, stone dead. My dad tracked the blood trail till he could see it and had me follow it the rest of the way, so I felt important. To my dad, me having fun as a kid was the most important thing to him in the world. He dragged the deer and had me on his shoulders so the cat claw wouldn't scratch me. I remember countless amounts of times that we either ended the hunt early, or he gave me some of my clothes to make sure I was warm or having fun. Or the endless times he let me shoot a rabbit so I could feel triumphant of getting an animal, when my dad didn’t. I know now he wouldn't get something because the shot he would let me take would scare the animals we were actually hunting away. When I get out of high school I am going to be a guide, which is a professional hunter that has people pay them and the guide takes them out to find a, usually big animal, for the hunter to shoot. This is my dream job, so I want to do it and get lots of hunting in before I go to college to be a orthodontist. The reason I want to be an orthodontist is so I can make good money and have lots of time off for my addiction, hunting. With all the people trying to stop it I don’t have a clue what I would do if I couldn’t hunt. My guess would be just mope around because my life long passion can’t be had. Hunting is something you have to commit to, it takes lots of money and time. Usually once you start, you can’t stop. Once you get the 30 seconds of adrenaline from all the hard work it took to find the animal, and the time it took to practice your shooting so you can make a clean ethical shot, just floods into you and its feeling you want over and over again. I guess you could compare it to druggies getting high, they yearn for that high, that feeling like they are on cloud nine. My dad is the most important person in my life. He is my best friend. And its all because of the time we get to spend with each other hunting. He has taught me all I know about hunting and I am forever grateful of him. There is no other place I would rather be than in the cold dark, waiting for sunrise to start looking for animals, with a heavy pack on my back and the cold metal of a gun or bow in my hand. Or in the pitch black as we hike back to the truck or out camp, to do it all again in the morning…

    My dad

ya its starting to switch and he is only 50, but its cause he was in gymnastics in high school and messed up his knee, plus im in twice as good of shape as him haha, so now i am waiting for him instead of him waiting for me. but he still wont let me carry anything for him even if his knee is hurtin bad, no gun no pack, nothing. ya it was nice meeting you ken. if i dont get a tag im sure ill drive up to help out some other kids up there
