well i was shooting a 300 win mag, but the kick was too much for me so i sold it and bought a 257 roberts just yesterday actually. i wont be shooting those bullets out of it, probably accutips or something. and just at varmits and deer.

but isnt that what berger's hunting bullets are? if it has a hollow point it will still open up, right? See the highlighted area well its there "hunting bullets" but they say match grade bullets, they just use them for hunting. but i would still think that if its a hollow point it should open up and work fine?

ok cool. so say i am shooting a 185 grain bullet, i need a say 1:12 twist. but then in the same caliber i start shooting a 140, i need maybe a 1:9? and the smaller the caliber would i go the slower the twist?

predator! that stuff works like a charm! called many predators within a couple feet, turkeys within 10 yards, i dont think what the pattern looks like its just how well your outline is broken up. that small intricate pattern stuff makes you look like a dark blob at a distance, this bigger patterns tuff breaks your outline up way better

gun is gone. still have dies, about 10 or so brass, a few bergers VLD bullets and some 185 grain Sierra BTSP. also have a box of 16 bullets loaded up with 168 bergers, make me an offer

i have a rem 700 300 win mag for sale. i have worked up a decent load for it, accurate with it to about 600 yds. just need to put finishing touches to get that range higher. but i have about 75 bullets loaded for it, and about 10 ive shot. it has 168 berger VLD's in it. looking to trade for a 25-06 or 257 robters. or for sale for $550. its solid matte black and ahs a few hunting nicks and dings. the trigger has some creep but not much. fairly light, i would guess around 3-4 lbs. maybe 80 rounds down the barrel. if the gun traded isnt a rem 700 you can have the scope bases and rings with the 300 win. i love this gun just looking for something a little lighter. i'd like something that doesnt pick me up with it. lol the kick isnt that bad, i just think i will shoot more confidently with something smaller. not looking for trades unless its the 2 guns listed above in as good condition as my gun. forgot to mention you get the dies and any excess reloading things i have. i think its just a few bullets. tho will post pics if there is interest. or PM with a cell number and i can get you pics faster

a friend and i are going on a backpack hunt the week after christmas. we dont know where to go yet but we will probably go somewhere in the superstitions, because 22 and 23 are closed during the december hunt unfortunately. if you have any tips on what to take that would be great! besides food, water, etc. we will probably pack water in before hand and stash it somewhere. this will be our first backpack hunt so we are excited!

New Dog

i have 2 shorthairs. shorthairs wont wander off at all. unless you dont have them trained. but that would be any dog not trained. some shorthairs dont like water at all. my older shorthair absolutely hates it but if there is a bird in the water she cant resist and has to go in. so also depends on there bird drive. if you get a shorthair pup get them in water alot so they learn to like it -
i know there was a total gear list earlier but i am excited for my hunt this weekend and already am all packed. so what do you constantly keep in your pack? for me its 300 win mag bullets sharp knives latex gloves binos tripod GPS varmit calls snacks game bags advil eyedrops bandaids wet wipes and water

bird dog problem
deserthntr replied to cw4192's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
i havent ever broke a gun shy dog but right now i just shoot 22 shorts with my pup. he loves to hear the shots cause its usually around food. i would just start the process over again if i was you, take it slow. start with a bb gun if you need and work your way up. just have something with the dog that it enjoys, like food. so they associate the noise as a good thing -

Desrthntr, my vehicle is like a heavy 3/4 ton, do you ever see much returns with punctures, rock problems with these? What kind of milage are you seeing out of a set? Thanks, you know i have never seen someone come in for a return on them for either. i have never even repaired a dynapro for a flat.... could be they have never come in when i am working, but with the thick tread i think they do really well. i know quite a few guy's that run them on a 3/4 ton and they love them. course its always opinion. you know im not sure about milage, i will ask my boss tomorrow about them and will let you know asap. they seem to handle rocks really well. course with our cert's if you get a puncture in the sidewall so its not re-pairable we will usually be able to give you a new tire, depending on your warranty. im doin all the dirty work so dont quote me warranty wise, but i know i do lots of free tires for a tire thats NR(non-repairable) if we see you have a warranty on your paperwork a new tire goes on. -

i am working at discount tire and i think your best bet is to go with the hankook dynapro's. we dont sell very many KM2's at my store so i dont know much about them. but the dynapro's are an excellent tire. -
