ok, im very willing to sacrafice bullet/brass price, and barrel life, because i work almost everyweekend so if im lucky i get to shoot a couple rounds in the desert before school on some days. i plan to shoot a 162 or 168gr bullet, so are those gunna affect my powder in those WSM cartirdges? if it is, and i wont be able to be shooting at 1k, then i will go with a RUM and throw a brake on it. i have shot houston's RUM and the recoil didnt bother me. i know the RUM's have alot more energy, but i kinda want the WSM's because i can put a brake on it and make them pretty lightweight. i also read the article about Ric Horst's wsm and thats kinda what converted me to the 7mm wsm at very first.

What do you think those better choices? Im all ears still so let me know what you think

ok, well with what sjvcon said i guess it just comes down to what i want between a 270wsm, 300wsm, or 7wsm. i dont think i want to go with a long action unless i am doing RUM or STW. i like the short actions alot. i like the 7 and 300 because i have seen them make it to 1000yds easily. i have a 257 i shoot at 700+ so i want something that will touch out farther. plus something i can trust to have knockdown power at those ranges. i like the 270wsm because the lighter recoil, but how hard will it hit at farther ranges?
-
I like the idea of the 270 wsm but I think I want a little bigger gun for the day I go to africa or Alaska. So the 300 wsm seems the gun I should go with but the 7wsm has better BC's from what I understand. So its a toss up right now. I also kinda want a 7wsm cause I don't hear much about those and like the idea of having something different

I've always kinda liked those 30-378. How is the recoil?
-
Why do you like it?

pup help "updated with pics tj"
deserthntr replied to hunter1026's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
at 6 months old just let her have fun. she is still a pup, so dont expect her to follow everything to a T. let her just have fun, especially since this will be her first season, next season is when you should be real serious about her absolutely doing things to a T. that was the best advice i ever got from people and i can tell a difference -
here is tuff, the possible sire, at 3 1/2 months here is oreo, the dam, oreos was about 2 years ago but i havent taken much pics of them. and i havent even taken pics of either on point for some reason. def gunna do it this year. but oreo is about 50 lbs, and tuff is about 60lbs

curious who would be interested in puppies, thinking about bredding my dogs, they would be christmas puppies. both have parents that are AFC FC dogs, both hunt and have extreme drive for birds, and listen really well. if its something you are looking at getting PM me and i can put you on the list. but only serious inquiries because i dont want to have a bunch of people on the list and then them back out and im stuck with pups. the sire is solid liver with one small white patch on his chest, and the dam is ticked and patched white and liver.

ill post some up when i get home from work

they will have papers, first shots, dews and tails done. im not exactly sure on the price but im thinking around 400. both sides are hunters all the way back their lines and tuff, the sire, likes water which is unusual for shorthairs so im sure some of the pups will do great with water retrieves. oreo, the dam, hates water but cant resist a bird and will go in to retrive them.

oops, the annual quota didnt cross my mind. thinking it wouldnt be met cause the unit would close once the weekend quota was met. but that doesnt mean other sows wont be taken before wed.

with each new opening season the harvest limit on the regs is the new objective. so you dont need to call before the opening weekend, even when its the second hunt

idk what your talking about because i know my eberlestock j104 goes from about 2300 to the site says 7000. and then you have the scabbord to put your rifle in. so it starts at about the same as your 2200 but then can triple the size. go eberlestock, i carry all my coues gear, plus a coues, and depending on his size, then some

was wondering how many of you have shot the GMX bullet, and how you like it? i was looking at the 90gr for my 257 roberts, looks like it will be a sweet bullet. i love the barnes ttsx cause they shoot holes upon holes for me, and i know if it aint broke dont fix it, but thought i might give them a try, unless these bullets just kinda explode once they enter the animal, instead of keeping their weight retention
