    Biiiiig ram

I'd love to take someone who has a tag after this ram if it is a sheep that is big. If I get to go on the hunt not saying I know his routes but I can be in the right spot and know how to glass. It won't let me upload the pic showing his mass from behind because the pic is too big. And idk how to resize it on my phone.

    3 for 3

Figured I would get our stories up. Ill put the pics in order of the stories. Well I drew one more junior tag down south before I turned 18. Because of work and some other things I only had one day to hunt. I decided the first buck I saw would work. Well we met some real nice guys who let us stay in their property and then take us out on there ranch. It was a full moon bright enough to make me put my head in my sleeping bag just to try and get some sleep. So we were glassing bedded deer at first light. At about 800to o'clock glassed a spike and this fork. Got to 410yds and killed killed him with one shot. That last shot :)I clipped his leg with my first and then missed 2ce and then dropped him. Then this last weekend was my dad and uncles general hunt. Got a BBD text from my dad when I was sitting in English class and ran out to call him. He glassed 4 bucks and put the stalk on them w/o a spotter and lost the bucks. Found one and saw he was nice so he shot him. Ended up being a main frame 3 with a huge cheater coming out of the base of his main beam. Saw a bigger buck nut couldn't get on him. I was busting tires waiting to get out of work when multiple lovely people pull IP wanting work done 10 min before close.... how nice of them. Bust those vehicles out asap, take a shower, pick my buddy up, then we gas up and pick up some red bull and snacks for dinner. Get to camp about 1030to and sleep till 430. Wake up and go. My buddy and I go to another point to glass other country and my uncle is just on the other side glassing too. I don't glass anything till out of nowhere there is a 110 in my binos! I call my uncle on the radio and get him over there while making a plan of attack for him. There is a perfect finger for him to run down and Geffen set up about 400 yds away. I'm watching this buck and have my buddy keep an eye on my uncle. This buck was wider than his ears and had the longest tines I have personally seen on a coues. I was getting buck fever just watching. This is about 900 and out of nowhere he quits feeding and walks to the top of the ridge. He looks all around him just on my side of the ridge for 10 min then he tops over to grow bigger for next year. My uncle decides with his bad knees and the distance to the top where we were wasn't enough for him to cross another big canyon to chance seeing this buck again. So I keep glassing the shade and my uncle goes to glass another area. My buddy and I were looking at where my uncle was going and said to each other that that spot looked real good to jump a buck. Not 2 sec. Later we hear BOOOOOM! I threw my binos over and see a buck walking. Then watch him drop and then hear BOOOOM WHOP! We keep an eye on the buck and watch him not twitch once until my uncle gets there. We head down and bone him out. Then throw him in my pack and I start walking. Thia canyon is now nicknamed "freaking canyon" for how Mich fun it was to pack him out. Was all worth it tho. Can't wait to get back at that big buck

    Senior Pics

so i was submitting my senior pictures today and wanted to send in a photo of me with my buck i shot last week. the first one i sent had the buck on my shoulder as i packed him out gutted. there was some blood but not to much. they declined it. so sent in a totally clean pic with me and my dad with the buck looking like he is still alive, they declined that also. they finally accepted one of me and my bird dogs with some birds we got. i understand they need to be sensitive to people who dont want to see the blood but i dont see a problem with the buck laying down like he is alive? maybe since im used to that stuff it means nothing but what does everyone think? is my thinking flawed or not?

    Bear hunting with dogs..

im not one to post up my opinion on stuff like this but you say you dont like the fact that paws and jaws treed 7 bears in 5 days, so bc they are successful you dont like them? also with numbers being a problem whats with all the bragging? "ive been on 6 bear kills in 9 years. i have found 30 bears in that time period so i could have killed more." if you glass big bears way off the beaten path where do you think they houndsmen have to go to get that big bear? the same place. there is no gaurantee the bear will be in the same tree when you get there "2 miles later!" i am in good shape and i takes me 12 min to run 2 miles on flat ground in the city. try and get there within 30 min in your so called much rougher country that hound bear hunters dont hunt in also. the bear will move just like when you glass a bear up. dont you think if you glass a bear bedding or munching on a prickly pear patch he will be more likely to stay in that patch you glassed him in and keep eating without knowing your there? not trying to get away from the danger chasing him? the bear will do exactly as lark says. and im sure many houndsmen will verify that. get tired of it and shred your dogs. i highly respect lark, and alot more people know him and respect him than some new guy that shows up and tells us all we arent sportsmen for chasing bears with dogs. maybe i dont have a problem with it because i want to do it someday. to get that adrenaline rush of a big huge bear you worked so hard to catch up to. isnt that why we hunt? to chase game and get our buck fever?

my 1st coues buck... 6 yrs ago

Ill be the first to say it was all luck. 10 min after getting out of the truck we jumped 3 bucks. My dad told me to pick one and shoot so I did. Ended up being an 86in buck. He broke off his main beam to his g2. Found d most if that main beam but not all of it

    mildot question

i have mildot in my soon to be long range set up, and i recently sent my vortex in for repair, whic by the way was excellent service with quick turn-around. got a new scope no charge! but i was reading through the mildot manual and had 2 questions, 1- does the distance a mildot is depend on the power the scope is on? so if your mildot is 36" at 300 yards and zoom in, would it move down to 24"? not sure if those are correct numbers but just a situation. and does the mildot differ at the yardage? so same situation, if its 1st mildot is at 36" at 300 yards, and move out to say 600yds, would the 1st mildot be 72" at that range? this is all for windage, not elevation

questions about training a bird dog.

you are doing good by getting him into the field asap, but dont rush things and expect him to be perfect. let him have fun this season especially at such an early age. keep getting him on wild birds and he will almost train himself. you just have to refine the sharp ends

    which gun and why

well i decided on the 7mm WSM. i found some bullets called matrix bullets and they have a .284 bullet that has a BC of .8.... sounds really good, def gunna give them a try. probably gunna get a kreiger barrel, mcmillan stock, and timney trigger. probably vortex viper for the glass. 20 MOA EGW rail. rem 700 action. Get the bolt fluted, and a big tactical nob on it. with a tan duracoat on everything. picturing it in my mind i think it will look real nice. but this will be a work in progress so things can always change...
