Wow! Id be jealous too! Good Finds.

I was really hoping that we would have gotten the results by now. i guess the 19B issue may have slowed things down. I probably didnt get an antelope tag anyway, do you think they will just tell us the elk results and tell us the antelope results when they get it all straightened out? just kidding! I know that won't happen. I just want to know already!

It finally happened! Ive been chasing these mulies around the desert where I live for a few years now and it finally happened last night. I spotted him with a very large group of does and decided to make my move on him. as i started getting closer there were just too many does and too many eyes so of course i got busted. They didnt spook too far though. I crept over the hill and saw them all walking away quickly so i too started walking quickly with them. I guessed them to be at about 70 yards (my range finder was recently stolen out of my truck) and he stopped broad side until i drew back, he started walking away again and i put my 60 pin on his back and let it go. What happened next is still playing back in my head. He did a roll in the dirt as soon as the arrow hit and ran up the hill with the does, then he swung aroung quickly and ran right passed me, stumbling over everything. I climbed a hill 30 min later to look for him and i saw a buddy of mine who just happen to be out there (totally bizarre!!) and i whistled too him to let him know i was there. Next I heard him say " Holy Crap Man! did you just shoot a deer?" I answered yes and then he said " Hes right here man". It was really weird to run into him out there and even more weird that he practically tripped over my deer on his way back to his truck. He helped me gut him out and take him to his truck which was way closer than mine. Special thanks to Collin Morse who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. now lets see if i can get some pics uploaded.

Ha Ha. Thats exactly how I'm feeling. I saw your post. Good Job!! I'm totally hooked now as I'm sure you are too.

Really cool looking buck. Congrats on your first archery deer also. I just shot my first about a week ago so I know how awesome you are feeling right now and I also know what you mean about chompin at the bit already for 2012.

Thanks for all the replies. The only thing that sucks is I have to wait a whole year now. Im not used to not putting in for the rifle hunt.

Cool story. Sounds like you guys had a blast. After reading that post it really got me thinking about what to do about next years draw. My wife just told me she wants to put in for the first time and I just had a really tough late bull hunt. I used to think only bull tags but I hate to admit I'm honestly thinking about a cow tag next year. Its been four years since I've killed something and I think after reading that, a cow tag with my wife might be the way to go. You guys just made it look like so much fun.

Way to go Eric. Those are some awesome bucks. Looks like your dad can still get it done for an old guy. awesome job.

Great Job!!! I had the same hunt and was not smart enough to get out of those deep canyons on the southern part like you were. I spent most of my time in the cedar country and didnt do very good at all. That is a heck of a bull on a very hard hunt.

well, I just got back home from my hunt in 22 north. and it was very tough and frustrating. opening morning I found myself loooking at 3 cow elk across a canyon about 1000 yards away and about 4 other groups of hunters that i noticed looking at the same canyon. That evening I tried to get away from hunters and went to another canyon and found myself looking at more hunters and a large group of cows and 2 very small bulls ( too small to pack out of that nasty canyon). I wasnt even on the control road where I know most of the hunters are and I was seeing 2 or three hunters everywhere i went even in the wilderness area. Any ways to sum it up i hunted 5 days and saw way more hunters than I did elk and it was very hot. I noticed on the the recommendations for next year they have only 100 tags for this december hunt which i think is a great idea. Too many hunters for this hunt. i guess i just had higher expectations. oh well, I guess its archery season now.

Great Buck!!! I love the story too. I'm glad you and your dad could enjoy that time in the field together.

What an awesome story! I started reading this post and could not stop. It was like a good book you cant put down. I am so happy that you found your bull, and a nice one at that. Great effort and great story.

Woke up this morning to go to work and when I got in my truck I noticed someone had been in there. My heart sank because I usually leave my binos and my rangefinder in my truck because I see alot of deer on my way home from work. They were both taken along with some other stuff. This really sucks!! especially with archery season just around the corner. I really hate thieves, what a way to start my day.

Not a bad year for me. 22 north rifle bull and 20C for muley. I'm so happy!!!!!!!
