Awesome! That two point in the last pic is really swollen up!

Reading that post allowed me to replay all the "great" unsuccessful stalks I made on those big ol smart mulies. Chess match is definitely an appropriate way to describe this game we play every December/January. Well written. I enjoyed it.

Thanks for the advice. I'm heading out now. I'm going to bring a beanie and pull it down over one eye and see if that helps. I hope it does cause id really like to use it to spot some deer. I hunt in some pretty wide open country that you can see a long ways.

I recently purchased a Vortex Nomad spotting scope. I was pretty excited about getting this particular spotter because of its lightweight and overall size i would be able to put it in my pack and pull it out when wanting to take a closer look at something or even to glass real far out. so i get it in the other day and pack it out to my spot and get set up to glass. I take it out and set it on my tripod and start to mess around with it. this is the first spotter ive had so i dont have anything to compare it too. I can tell that the picture is clear even out to the higher magnification but the problem im having is that i cant go very long looking through with only one eye. After a very short amount of time i feel like it would help to put a patch on or something to keep the other eye closed. i did not see this problem coming. i was wondering what some of you guys do to help out with this. I'm wondering now if i should sell/trade my current set up which is Meopta meopra 10x42's + Vortex Nomad spotter for maybe some minox 15's or even the Vortex Viper 15x50 HD. Looking for some advice. thanks...

This weekend is completely opposite of last weekend at least where I'm at. Last weekend it looked like the rut was going. This weekend so far I've found lots of does with only spikes and small bucks. I don't know...

Great job getting it done with a bow spot and stalk. I got my first in January of 2011 and I have been hooked! Going after these rutting mulies with a bow is probably the most fun I've ever had. I can't wait to get back out there on Friday. Great job once again. There's some good eating!

very cool story!

My dad just picked up his kaibab buck that he shot last year. Mount N View Taxidermy in Flagstaff did an outstanding job on the mount.

well i gave it a try and it didnt work . I hate it when your boss doesnt hunt. they just dont understand.

+1. I cant get crap done at work. all im thinking about is how these deer are rutting right now and im sitting here. this sucks!! I cant get back out until friday.

Missed a 2x3 yesterday morning. Can't believe it. 2 days in and I'm 0 for 2 on spot and stalk. This can be so frustrating yet so much fun. He was by himself but when I glassed him up he wasn't feeding he was moving quickly with his nose low. It's looking to be a good December.

Opening day for me resulted in a blown stalk on a big tall 4 point buck. He was running with two does. His neck was all swollen up by I didn't see him show much sign of pushing them around just yet. Although I glassed them up just moments before they all bedded down so he may have been pushing them before I spotted them. Lets hope day two goes better for me. I snuck up to 54 yards of him and he was still bedded. Couldn't get a shot though. I'm still upset about that one.

once again another awesome video. I look forward to watching the videos that you continue to post on here. you get to go on some pretty extreme hunts. I have to admit Im slightly jealous

Im still holding out for my first early archery bull tag. I hope this is the year

Very cool! Looks delicious.

Sounds like its getting close. There's a chance of snow in the higher elevations on Friday. It's looking to be a pretty good opening weekend. Good luck to everyone who is going out on Friday. Can't wait to see some pics! I'm hooked on archery mule deer in the rut! I can't wait!

Very cool story! I really like the buck jumping the fence

congrats on a very tough hunt. I have glassed those bulls in those deep canyons of 22N. thats quite a feat to go in there and pack them out. Good job.

Lessons Learned - Not all of 'em I like! Kaibab Buck

Very nice buck! The Kaibab is a special place -
+1. thats what its all about right there

Great job! That hunt looks tough. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I should put in for these hunts. I think I just need one early archery hunt under my belt then I will get the "not as good" hunts from then on so I can hunt more. That country looks rough.
