Sorry no pics but we caught a few bass on dropshots and jerkbaits between swiming breaks to keep the heat off our heads. Was going to try and catch some yellows but the boat traffic was terriable close to the flats so we opted to stay out of the way and not get run over.

Great Horned owl came into our stand right before dark. -

Very nice design it looks to be very well built with the exception of the chain link welded on the sides. I would beef them up. One good hit with a heavy tool or hacksaw I think they could snag the 25 lb box the camera is in and take the whole thing. Just my 2 cents

Gunsmith for Browning .22 breach loader
Coues&Bass posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have a Browning .22 breach loader that needs some firing pin work. I am looking for a reputable gunsmith near Safford. Just so happens that I need to go to Tucson on Wed's so I am going to take it with me. Any help from the locals in the area would be appreciated. -
Thanks LeRoy need to get back down to Rosey.

I was just up there on a turkey hunt, due to the Forest service thinning project to the south and west of Alpine probably saved it from going up in flames. I have friends with the Forest Service and they will be the first ones to tell you that they have to jump through hoops to perscribe fire. The fire started in an area deemed as a wilderness area which was lobbied by the Enviornmental Wacko,s to keep the forest in what they deem as the forest's original state prior too man's involvment. So the Forest Service can not even think about any cleanup of dead and down trees or even thining. I have hunted unit 27 all my life. The fire burned through some of the best elk country in the state and now it is just gone. It suxs to see what careless people can do in the blink of an eye. I do not know for a fact but if there was an order to not go and fight the fire but I bet it was most likely for the well being of the fire fighters trying to rush in and do the work they were trained to do. I hope the Sierra Club and other org. figure out that they have done more harm than good and that legislators will move to throw out the rulings made in there behalf.

CHOW! DID NOT KILL BUT HAD A GREAT TIME!

I am heading up on May 14th to see if I can fill my tag. I could not make it out opening weekend due to a wedding. I seen quite a few gobblers off the 405 rd but checking with you folks to see if any area seems better then the next. thanks

I am taking my 16 yr old daughter up to 27 today. Seconed time hunting with her for turkey. She had her chance but she decided to chase the gobbler instead of shooting it 2 years ago. Maybe we will have better luck this weekend.

Leaving today for 27 to try my luck.

Try worms and dropshots close to the reeds and jerkbaits along the edges.

7mm rem mag stock ammo?
Coues&Bass replied to arizonaelitefreak's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I use Remmington express core lok with my Ruger 7mm. 150 and 175 gr. I will not spend all that $ on Federal ammo. Remmington Express works just fine for me. -

I have received a few pm's about the report of a 14 lbs. bass being caught at Rosey. ( I seen the pic.) These are the details that I know, maybe someone can get with this dude and see if he will post the pic. The gentleman in question lives in Payson and is a taxidermist. That should narrow it down. I bet Amanda probably knows him.

I and 2 friends made it to Rosey Friday evening and fished until 1230pm on Saturday. We caught around 25 bass mostly late evening and up until 10am on Saturday when the bite slowed. I think there were 4 or 5 tournaments going on Saturday. The bass were caught on worms, spinnerbaits and jerkbaits. I got a pic of some dude that landed a 14lb bass on Saturday.

Just name the date and I will be there unless I need emergency surgery or something! Just throwing a little dig out to Amanda.
