Now that's what I'm talking about. Congratulations on a superior specimen.

I'm stuck at work until 2pm. Planning on an evening hunt today. I did get a chance to get a stand hung yesterday evening and check the camera one last time. It is nice being able to hit the stand only 30 minutes from the house. Good luck you all. Work sucks.

It's 4:00am Friday morning and I m getting ready for work. Oh well his evening hunt is all mine. Good luck to all.

Walmart, or Sportsmans Guide. The critters don't care what you wear, just get something that is effective at either keeping cool, or warm and don't forget some rain gear. Boots, this is where you should spend your money in my opinion. Don't ever go cheap on footwear. Can't kill deer in camp when you have hurt feet. Hunting has been around forever, but camo has only been around a short time when you think about it. Wore my old Army camo for years until I got um too fat to fit in them.

Rainy Days Ahead - Does this change your plans?
ccran replied to seeker88's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Deer always seem to be moving as soon as it stops raining. It doesn't bother them, it won't bother me. As long as my rain gear is in the pack. Plus it softens the ground for 'neaken up on them. -
Gotta have my Copenhagen, some coffee.

I bought the AZ Easy Fletcher last year. I have never had arrows fly so straight. This also allowed me to index my Montecs with the teachings. Gotta have that helical, it sure makes a difference.

I have never understood the mindset of some people. If it's not yours leave it alone. I have never lost a camera, but some friends have. Too bad there is not a way to hook a dye pack to them and turn some turds face blue for a week or so.

I'm a compound shooter, but my brother is looking to buy a new recurve in the $300 range. He has never shot a bow and wants to get in on the action. I have never shot a traditional set up and have no information to offer him. Any suggestions?

Bring it on, I'm ready.

G5 Montec, all the way.

I have two hang on stands with climbing sticks, but my favorite is my new Summit climber. Fast, light and easy as heck to get up a tree. Climbers are more expensive, but definitely worth the money.

I live in Safford, definitely the place to stay for either unit. January is a great time to hunt 31, no serpents on the ground. Within minutes from your hotel you will be flinging arrows. PM me for more info if you like. There is also a great bowshop in town if you need anything.

I too did not make the shoot this year, first time in many years. Riding the lift the lift and hearing arrows busting in the trees and rocks always brings a smile to my face. Knowing I'm not the only one.

Awesome wall you have. I'm envious, guess I need to quit shooting the small ones.

Anyone else getting itchy for aug 23rd??
ccran replied to Bitter24's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Just cooked up some of 2012 Kansas buck for dinner last night. I'm ready for some Coues backstrap. Let's get it on. -
Gut, skin, quarter, and get to packing. Once back at camp I pack it in a large ice chest with whatever ice I have and haul but home. Once there I keep it in the spare beer fridge for 4-5 days then bone it out on the kitchen table (Wife really enjoys that). Then freezer paper or vacuum seal it. I have never paid to have an animal processed, just feel that butchering is part of the hunt, and I know what I'm getting and eating. Good luck this year to all of you.

I'm looking for suggestions on a new pack for this year. I know there are many good ones out there. Must have atleast 4500cubic inch capacity, and hydration compatable. Who has pro's or con's on internal or external frames. I looking to pack into the back country this year for archery season and get it done the hard way. I have a Badlands and I'm not really impressed with it. Anyone ever use the Outdoorsman???

Wow, looks like you used just plain 'ol mud. Gonna have to give it a try. I know I have several sets laying around the garage myself.

What is the best bow sight out there?
ccran replied to ylclaret's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
My Montana Black Gold has let the air out of several bucks in the last few years. If I had to replace it, Spott Hogg would be on my list of options. -
Absolute BEAST.

I have killed three deer from a treestand. I use a self-climber and go as high as I possibly can. If you can climb 20-25ft you will be good to go. Shooting from this high will change your point of impact, so practice first. Your shooting lanes will look good and clear from the ground, but once your up high your see lots of things you didn't notice before..

+1 on IRS pay plan. You cannot buy the rifle new for what your asking. You will regret selling it.

I found the pack I have been looking for. I would like to thank Jay, Tyler, and Max from Gila Outdoors in Thatcher for the hard work and putting up with my million questions. The new Blacks Creek Remedy 7 Solution, and Hilleberg Soulo tent are awesome. The Kifaru Slick bag will be delivered in May. For those who have not been to Gila Outdoors, you owe yourself a trip to check it out.

Thank you all for the great tips. I think the OX has my name all over it.
