Way to go Lance! You guys are on quite a roll. -
I just laughed out loud! Thats hilarious!

You are NOT qualified to be flying that. Im not taking care of your wife and kids when you fly into the face of a mountain. It is a GREAT way to see animals though, I have to agree.

I just got back yesterday from a mule deer hunt in New Mexico. We were hunting just south of the Colorado line in some beautiful country. It was the first time I have ever hunted this country. Opening morning it was 16 degrees and the deer were out moving. We had a GREAT hunt!

Your jealousy issue is SO SO sad. Quit drinking the haterade.

Thats the pot calling the kettle black!

I thought when all the hate talk started over the summer it was just because there were no hunts going on and everyone was bored. Boy, was I wrong! Right here in the middle of fall, with all the hunts going, and everyone is still squabbaling like a bunch of little school girls. Rediculous.

Couldn't have said it better myself. You hit the nail right on the head. The sad part is what you said is not too far from the truth.

I agree completely! John, Lance and Timberland Outfitters guided me this year on an archery elk hunt in unit 10 and I couldnt ask for a better bunch of guys to hunt with. They put me on great bulls everyday and their skills are nothing short of amazing. More important than their skills and success rate is the kind of people they are and the type of hunt they run. EXCEPTIONAL!

RIGHT ON! Thats the best analogy to describe it. Nothing more needs to be said.

Trying to get anything done about the lions in the KOFAs is like trying to beat the house in Vegas. YOU CANT DO IT! THEY HOLD ALL THE CARDS! To further Jake's point about the US Fish and Wildlife not wanting to admit there were lions in the KOFAs, after haveing picutres on our game cameras of lions we were told we were no longer allowed to put trail cameras up in the KOFAs. What a joke. Just another gross abuse of power and mismanagement by a government agency.

I have been using the Slik CF 614 for the past 2 years. I really enjoy it. I am 6 ft tall and if I am glassing from a standing position it is barely tall enough. I have used it with 10s and 15s and both are fine. Obviously when glassing from a sitting position it is much sturdier than standing, but I dont hesitate to use it standing. I was a little hesitant about how long the leg locks would last since they are the screw type and not the latch. 2 tough years and they are still working fine. Definately would recommend this compact lightweight tripod.

I second that!

A couple of years ago I was deer hunting the second weekend of the hunt in the KOFA national wildlife refuge. A buddy and I had hiked into an area before sun up to make sure we were setup and glassing at prime time. Everything went perfect until......right at first light a Game and Fish helicopter came flying up the canyon we were in not 200 ft off the ground. He flew right over head and started buzzing around the mountains we were glassing. I couldnt figure out what he was doing until I glassed up a ewe running as fast as she could down one ridge and up the next. The helicopter just followed right behind her until she started going straight up a really steep shale slide, all of a sudden as I was watching the ewe through my binocs a huge net shot out the door of the helicopter and on to the ewe. The net landed on top of the sheep and she became tangled in it. Immediately the helicopter placed one of its landing skids barely touching a rock outcropping and one of the AZGFD officers bailed out of the helicopter and went running down to the ewe and tranquilized her. They then loaded her in the helicopter and took off. It was really cool to watch. It would have been a whole lot cooler if they had waited another day until the deer season was over and not ruined my honey hole. Anyway, it was pretty neat. -
If it is shooting good for your buddy, I would recommend selling them bow to him and starting with a new one.

I decided to hook up the camp trailer and take the family to the mountains last weekend to do a little scouting. We had a great time! The weather was beautiful, especially since it was 115 degrees when I left Yuma on Thursday afternoon. Of course I couldnt imagine it would be cool at 6,000 ft, so all I took was T-shirts. Big mistake. We glassed up lots of elk, deer and antelope. It was the first time my youngest boy had ever seen an elk, I think he is hooked.

WOW! Those are some great bulls. I hope you have a tag for that unit.

AGFD accused of "game farming" for bighorns
yumabowhunter replied to audsley's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I was born and grew up in Yuma, which is 45 minutes from the heart fo the Kofa wildlife refuge. I cut my teeth hunting the Kofas. When I was a kid I can remember seeing sheep everywhere. Now, you are lucky to find a sheep. Until 8 years ago there were NO lions in the Kofas, coincidentally that is when the sheep herd was flurishing. As soon as the lions moved in the sheep started to dwindle. It is not only the sheep suffering, the deer herd has been desimated to almost nothing. I have quit hunting the Kofas the last couple of years. I continue to put game cameras out and not surprinsing lions are frequently on my pictures. It is INFURIATING! The Game and Fish and US Fish and Wildlife have really screwed up on this one! If they do not do something quickly the deer and sheep herds in the Kofas will be beyond repair. It kills me to say that because this area of the state has proven that it can produce record quaility deer and sheep. The problem is I highly doubt anything will change in the near future. The new director of the refuge is as green as they come! They care more about the lion thriving than anything else. I didnt intend for this to be such a long rant. Just wanted to provide some truth to the matter. -
