Texas hog hunters vs. Cali hog hunters!!
Kilimanjaro posted a topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Here is a couple of pics that I received today from my Pops back home in TX.. He had a group of buddies that went hog hunting at a place that was in dire need of some hog killin'.. here is the end result of the fiasco.. I wish I knew when and where they guys did this kind of damage!!! For you AZ guys who have never been to TX before, the hog problem is out of control. Most places will gladly let you onto their place to do smoke a few hogs.. It benefits everyone involved.. And most of the time, they could care less how you kill them and how many you kill cuz there is always more.. most of the time its " the more the better" kind of hunt!! The hog slaying rig.. a little payback is in order for a few hogs!!! And the fruits of the labors!!! GOD BLESS TEXAS!!! We are a rowdy and sometimes crazy bunch, aren't we??? And with these pics, he sent me a video that almost made me pee my pants the first time I watched it! Its a bunch of Cali hog hunters who dang near shoot themselves in order to.... well, just watch the video and see for yourself!!!! Aww Californians, you gotta love 'em! PS.. it took me an hour to finally figure out how to post a video clip onto the web.. but I finally got it figured out.. I think? "here piggie piggie" -
Jack, if without the tag in that area where this AWESOME goat is residing, I'd be real vague on his whereabouts.. then keep tabs on him till you draw that tag!! And then you can let the cat out of the bag and tell the whole world where he was residing after you took him!! Those kind of goats do not come around every day.. that thing is 90" if he's an inch.. I've killed two net book goats two years in a row and I never came close to seeing a goat of that caliber.. WOW!! Keep him under close observation and TELL NO ONE!!

WFGinNM, cool story... I know whatcha mean about having those goats on the brain.. awesome animals, aren't they??
-
Just passing some time and thought I'd pick some brains here on CWT.. Have any of you guys ever drawn an Ibex tag in NM?? OR, helped someone on a hunt who did have a tag?? Would you even consider the hunt a "must do" in your book, or a hunt that just doesn't do it for you... I think I've read every peice of info there is to be found on this hunt.. And looked at every photo that has ever been published or put out. There just isn't much info out there on this hunt. I do believe this hunt has got to be my number one dream hunt here in the States to draw.. Awesome mountain range (Florida range) that the hunt takes place in, and an even more unbelievable animal that you are getting to match wits with. Just about the baddest Mothers that call the mountains home.. These goats seem to defy gravity.. They are unreal. I put in every year... and get the boot every year! But one of these days I'll get that tag and then I'll be looking for one of these bad boyz thru my 15's.. What a game animal!!! What do you guys think?

Hey guys, thought I would put this on here as well and see if any of you or someone you might know might be in the market for a new truck. I am getting ready to sell my truck and bite the bullet and get a new one before the '07's start rolling out in force.. Here are the details.. She is a silver '03 F-350 4X4, with a 6.0L Powerstroke diesel, 50K miles.. Lots of extras on her.. fully loaded interior, 6 disk in dash CD changer, alarm system, tinted windows, aftermarket grill, aftermarket headlights and tail lights, rhino lined bed, 10" Fabtech lift with Fox Racing shocks in the front and air bag shocks in the rear, 37" BF's with a brand new one for a spare, and an AWESOME rhino lined front end replacement grill guard.. I am putting her up for sell for 30K. She is an awesome truck.. And quite the looker. If you guys want me to put a few pics up, let me know.. I drove a new Ford the other day with the King Ranch Leather Package in it and now I've got to have one.. But first I have to sell the one I own now!! Thanks guys!! Sorry, I put this post in the wrong section..

2006-2007 COUES WHITETAIL BUCK CONTEST
Kilimanjaro replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I'm in again... count me in.. PM sent.. -
heck, they don't pay us enough!! I know there are alot of guys on this site that make a ton more than I do! But with my income and my wife's, we make it without too much difficulty. This fishing trip only cost me the cost of a quick Southwest flight ticket ( 150$). My buddy owns the boat. He said he's paying for the diesel to repay me for a quail hunting trip I took him on. All I have to do was get my butt over there..and buy the beer!! Basically a free trip. Not too expensive for anybody! Certainly less than if I was to go bear hunting this weekend.. I just live by this motto... if I die tomorrow, at least I'll die knowing that I didn't go through life saying I wish I could do this or that, or I'll do that someday.. Basically the woulda, shoulda, coulda complex that alot of people have. When I say I'm gonna do something, I DO IT! I never put things off if I can help it.. Remember that, you only live this life once. Might as well make it a good one..

Deerslam, I have no idea how this thread came up twice! beats me.. As far as where the rock is, I had someone guess the exact place by name in a PM really quick.. It is in "B", near the southern end. A couple of guys on here have the right area and I'm betting they could find it if need be. You guys know your desert!! We'll see ya'll out there!! -

I thought I would share just a few pics with you guys that I have taken over the last few weeks while out in the southern units.. Sorry about the quality.. They were just taken with a quick point and click camera.. A few weeks ago, we were out checking some things out way up in the hills down near the border area and we stumbled into this area of really round rocks on the VERY top of a high ridgeline that were covered in Native American pictographs.. You can see all types of animal and human shapes on the face of the main rock.. Very cool to see. Any guesses on where this was taken?? I'll give you the first hint.. in was in 36B. And the other day, we stumbled into this guy while we were checking out some country on the west side.. And he was a pretty big one at that! I always seem to find them during the monsoon season. I always think of it as a real treat to see these guys whenever I'm out in the desert. Such cool critters. And here I am doing my best Steve Erwin impression!! " Kricky!!!!" Don't worry.. neither "Steve" nor the Monster were injured in the the making of this photo.. And just a reminder to all of ya'll with a tag this fall down in the southern units of AZ... When ya just have that feelin' like someone is watchin' ya, chances are they are.... We'll see ya'll out there this fall!! -

Coues country's other inhabitants
Kilimanjaro replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Here's a few pics of some creepy crawlies I've taken while at work.. Here's a pic of another Gila Monster I stumbled into down just south of Brown Canyon. took the pic with him and sent him back on his slow way.. Here's another Gila I found right at the base of the Cerro Colorados in 36A.. I was alone on this trip and didn't get to pose with this one!! And here is a pic of the biggest rattler I've seen so far in AZ. He was about 5 ft long. I saw him right before a monsoon storm was about to hit.. he was crossing the road in front of me on the Kings Anvil ranch back near the Coyote Mts.. -

I had a couple of close calls with those buzz worms as well. They don't bother me when I can see them.. its not being able to see them that I hate. I would never in a million years try and pick up a rattler.. They just scare me too much and are so lightning quick with their movements.. I don't kill then either.. I've killed a few but always felt horrible afterwards. Lat one I killed was in unit 27 while bear hunting. We were camped out right on the Blue River near a bluff that over hung the bank. We were cooking breakfast and sitting around the campfire when all of a sudden I saw the thing out of the corner of my eye about 8 inches from my boot! It was a Black tailed rattler and it was full to the brim with something it had just caught. I guessed it was headed to the shade of the bluff to catch some zzz's and digest that big meal. But that was just a bit too close to the camp for comfort.. I've almost stepped on probably 5 or so while on duty out here in the desert since coming out to AZ.. Now Gila Monsters are a diff story! They don't scare me at all.. I think it comes from the fact that my buddy had one as a pet back in TX for years and I would handle and play with that one all the time and I'd even hand feed him eggs while I held him. I could even lay him on his back in my hand and rub his belly and he'd go right to sleep just like a hornytoad.. And the fact that they are some much more docile and unaggressive than rattlesnakes. I've never even had a Gila hiss at me.. But I do know it could happen.. just like it did in your case.. And boy would I feel like an butt if it did! My uncle got bit by a rattler in the shin a few years back in an unpravoked bite.. he was dove hunting in a field and he was walking out to pick up a dove and the thing bit him thru his wranglers in the shin and got him with one fang. Shoulda seen his leg. WOW! It looked horrible and he said that it hurt worse than it looked! He spent a couple of days in the hospital.. -
I was planning on going on the opener in 27 ( went a couple of years ago and had a blast and even saw a few bruins), but now I am flying out to beautiful San Diego on Fri. the 11th and going Mako shark fishing for the weekend with a couple of buddies who live out there!! They called me last night and told me to buy a plane ticket and get my butt out there ASAP.. the shark and tuna fishing was beyond belief right now!! It was a toss up.. sweat my butt off in the scortching AZ heat and maybe see a bear, or head to the Cali shore for a couple of days in my buddies awesome boat, 75 degree temps, drink some cervezas, and haul in bull Makos and Dorados and yellowtail tuna till my arms fall off!! Hard choice!
