thought I'd share a few pics of the newest member of the arsenal I just got back today.. I had this gun built on a Rem 700 action chambered in .300WSM by the guys at Match Grade Arms in Spring, TX.. I topped him off with a B&C reticle Leupold in 4.5X14X40.. These guys can build an awesome gun and are world renowed for their custom rifles.. They teflon coated everything metal, added a custom kevlar 13oz. stock with a custom paint job (AWESOME!!) with a pachmayr decelerator pad on the backside, free floated and glass bedded that bad boy, put a super eleminator muzzlebreak on, crowned the end, and added a new Jewell trigger set at a crisp 3lbs.. We'll see how he shoots here in a few days!! This badboy is gonna put some critters in the dirt this season for sure!! We'll see ya'll around!!

Kilimanjaro replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
thanks for the sugesstions guys.. I had already tried several of the places that ya'll said would be good, but they had already been booked. . found a place in Pinetop that had an open cabin, so I snatched it up.. gonna be nice to get outta the heat and throw a line in the water..might even throw myself in!! thanks for the help! -
thanks Chef.. I think it'll be a tack driver.. I think this was the pic that you were talking about.. my wife took this pic just minutes after I downed the ol' man.. it was a surreal expirence for me and I was glad my wife had taken the pic when we got back.. i didn't even know she had gotten there yet.. She had crept up while I was there all alone with the bull and snapped the pic of me reflecting on what had just transpired.. thanks for remembering the pic.. I haven't looked at it in awhile..

sorry to hear that bud... losing a good dog is an awful feeling.. my condolences to you.. But, look at it on the bright side.. he lived a long and productive life and had a blast with you the entire time!! 13 years as a bird dog is quite a feat.. Here's to the Old Man.. RIP. -
I own an Outdoorsman tripod as well.. I have a their pistol grip and love it.. It is super light and is pretty small.. but it works great with the swaro 15's on top.. I love the set up I have and would recomend it to ya if you are looking to get a good product.. pricey, but well worth it.

naw Jason.. I don't think the wool will ever be pulled over my eyes on that one.. Bowhunting is for the birds.. I'll stick to rifles and smokepoles to hunt my billies, thank you very much!! You might as well try and kill one with a pocket knife in those mountains!!

In Jan, we decided to step it up and get the state of WA out of the way and climb Mt Rainier this season.. We did it and came back with all of our fingers and toes.. barely!! rest deleted......

thanks alot guys!! I really appreciate it! Younghunter, I want to do Denali in a bad way, but I think I'm gonna wait a few years and get some more high points under the belt before tackling that bad boy.. I think my next high peak is gonna be Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania next year. It is almost 20K and is the highest free standing mountain in the world. Plus, you know me and Africa.. I just can't seem to stay away. AZP&Y.. you are right about traversing those glaciers.. it is one awesome and errie expirence all rolled into one. Shortpants, Nuts? Naw.. just bored and "cursed" with a restless mindset!! I am always trying to outdo myself. And I really have no idea why. I guess its the sado masacist in me coming out.. I enjoy punishing myself! again, thanks guys!!

Hogzilla II
Kilimanjaro replied to az4life's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I shot my first deer at 6 in TX.... not all states run like AZ. that hog looks like he was fed doughnuts in a pen his whole life and then let out to be plugged full of holes.. -

I hunted them once (1999) in the Candalaria area of far west TX north of the outpost town of Presidio.. Desolate, dry country alot like AZ and the hunting was basically like hunting coues.. lots of hiking and glassing.. I missed my one and only opportunity at a decent buck..
