New B&C World Record Coues
Kilimanjaro replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Take the new world record?? I'd have to say that I'd sell it in a heartbeat (and I don't part with ANY of my trophies, but come on people, its worth a potential GOLDMINE!) and I'd in turn buy my dream hunts..that is if I was offered enough for the head, of course..and my dream hunts being a full bag 21 day safari in Tanzania with 4 of the big 5 and all of the "glamor" antelope and gazelle such as Roberts and Grants gazelle, lesser kudu, gerenuk and such, and then a High Altai Argali hunt in Mongolia. If I were to do those two hunts, I'd hang up the rifles and just retire and become strictly a bird hunter!! I'd be done!! -
Ruff, sorry, but your friends is full of beans.. unless his last name is McCain. I have met the man who took that pic while I was down there working. He is the head honcho biologist for the Borderlands Jaguar Detection Project.. His name is Emil McCain. He took that pic a few years back in the Babos.. That is a male jag that has the name of Macho B. He's been captured on film over 60 times over the last few years by McCain.. That's McCain's pic..

cool spot Lance!! i saw one in deep south TX one a ranch that we were niglai hunting on.. we saw the little kitty just walking down the road at first light in a really thick area on the ranch.. 2 days later, we got to see an ocelot cross in front of us on the same place.. it was a BEAUTIFUL cat.. not many places in the lower 48 that you can see those felines..south TX and southern AZ probably being that only two.. same goes for coati.. even though I saw one in the guadelupe moutnains in NM once.. darned thing ran up a tree and looked at us like we had just waken him up from a nap!! we were Merrriams turkey hunting.

What is the best hunting show on TV
Kilimanjaro replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I didn't vote for any of them cuz almost all of them SUCK. Out of the ones listed, had I voted, I would have to say it would have been for the Dangerous Game show.. Boddington is a real stand up guy and knows what he is talking about.. same goes for the SCI Expedition show.. good, but not good enough to vote for. If you had listed Jim Shockey's show, that would have been my choice. He may be annoying as heck, and a cunuck to boot, but the man knows what he is talking about when it comes to hunting BIG game. And he always delivers a good show. Waddell couldn't buy my vote. I think I'd rather listen to chalkboard scratchings all day long on a loop.. -

huntin' prairie dinosaurs...
Kilimanjaro replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Thanks guys!! Sage grouse are one bird that I have been DYING to learn about and hunt.. they are the most unique species I've had the opportunity to hunt thus far.. Kevin, that is a WT skull that I found while we were hunting.. I figured it was gonna be a muley based on where we were, but it seems that ol' Mr. WT can scratch out a living just about anywhere.. Its about a 130 class buck.. I've had pretty good luck with the skulls this year!! Its the 4th one I've found! -
Finally got him!

Sunshine and warm weather ditch parrots...
Kilimanjaro posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Hey guys.. thought you might enjoy checking out today's hunt we had up here in the "great white" north here in Montana.. yeah right!! it was 82 up here!! But that's all about to come to screeching halt.. old man winter is surely on his way!! Anyways, we have somehow gotten access to over 4K acres of PRIME pheasant country up here on private property that no one else is allowed to hunt... we finally got out today for the first time and low and behold, the pheasants were THICK!! Everyone was telling us how good the pheasant hatch was this year around our parts, and they weren't kidding at all! We litterally had hundreds boiling out of the high grass on us on the first pass of the morning.. All in all, we ended up with 3 limits between us before lunchtime, and a couple of Huns thrown in for good measure.. not a bad day for sure!! How all is going well for everyone in Az!! my first MT rooster!! ...and this double rounded out my limit for the day!! we were 2 shy of the limit for us when we took this pic.. 20 minutes later, we had 'er done and were having a cold one!! take care guys!! -
Thought I'd drop a quick line and say howdy to all ya'll.. I've been so busy with the move up here to MT and such that I just haven't had time to drop by as much as I would like.. After I get settled back in, I'll be back for sure.. ...in the meantime, here are a few pics of my new home.. all these were taken within 1 hr of my house.. the scenery here is beyond imagination.. its like looking at a painting! I'll be filling ya'll in on my hunting trips and such here in the coming weeks for sure!! till then...howdy, and congrats to all of ya'll on here that have been successful thus far in your hunts there in AZ!!

Well, the time has come for me to say goodbye to ya'lls great state. In the 4 1/2 years I've lived here, I've come to realize the Az is a good place to call home and hang your hat at the end of the day.. What I've come to enjoy about the state is the great changes in scenery you have within close driving distances.. open prairie, scorching desert flats, windswept mountaintops, dense pine forest, etc.. And although I've found beauty in all of them, I can honestly say that I truely fell in love with the San Rafael valley country... it has everything I find beautiful there all in one little area. Such a great and unique place that I will continue to visit every year.. For the most part, the people have been really kind and friendly out here.. especially in the smaller towns.. good, down to earth folks. The hunting was OK for me out here.. mostly based on the fact that I came from a state with no draw, and soon found out how spoiled and privilaged I had had it back home in TX.. Along those same lines though, I found it quite fun hunting here in Az when I had a tag in hand!! And although I was only sucsessful only once with a good 82' coues, he means alot to me and I'll proudly display him on the wall. I'll make my way back here for my elk, sheep and 'lope as the tags trickle into my hands over the coming years.. in the meantime, with my lifetime license, I'll make my pilgimage every season to chase my Mearns quail till I'm too old to hike the hills anymore! I'll now be hanging my hat and kicking off my boots in Northern MT for the next 6 to 10 years.. I can't wait to settle in and begin my life there. It's gonna be a shock to me with the cold weather and such, but I'm looking forward to the change of scenery and pace of life.. I'll be in a town of less than 4K people. Not even a Wal Mart.. And with our new baby girl, I wouldn't want it any other way. There'll be plenty of hunting for me up there, with alot of new hunting I have yet to expirence.. plus tons to birds to chase with the dogs!! To all of you I've had the pleasure of meeting off of here, I want to say thanks. You've helped this Texan feel right at home here in AZ while I was here. My door's always open in MT should you ever feel the need to head north to do a bit of fishing, bird hunting, or maybe some real Whitetail hunting!! J/k!! You guys are always welcome.. and remember, if any of ya'll are ever in Glacier National Park, I'm only 50 miles away! give me a ring!! If ya'll don't mind, I'll still be on here as a regular sharing pics and stories with ya'll of my new expirences up in MT.. I've come to feel as part of the CWT family over the years!! Guys, it's been fun!!

I FINALLY got my transfer today!!! I am going to be moving to Montana! I AM STOKED!! I have to up there by 9/23. Friday will be my last day of work here.. I have been putting in for this transfer since they would let me a few years back.. It always seemed that I kept getting passed over based on senority.. but finally, I was my turn! Washington DC called me today and offered me the position. Moving to MT has always been something I've wanted to do for 5 or 6 years outta my life.. small town living, clean countryside and fresh air, good down to earth folks, great scenery, awesome mountains to climb in the summer off season, great fishing, etc... and lets not forget the hunting! There's WT, MD, elk, pronghorn, moose, bison, sheep, goats, lions, bear, turkeys,... and then if your a bird hunting addict like me, its like you've been dropped off in heaven.. there's sharp tailed grouse, hungarian partridge, sage grouse, pheasent, ruffed grouse, blue grouse, and spruce grouse.. my mutts are gonna LOVE this!! Man, all I need now is more vaction time! I'm gonna be a really busy body for the next month or so! Know anybody that wants to buy a house in northeast Tucson?? I know a good one that's gonna be on the market real soon!!

I can't believe it finally happened!!
Kilimanjaro replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Doug, thanks for the awesome link! I think I'll be plenty busy in MT for a LONG time! There are tons of peaks to practice on in that state.. It is a super cool state to live in if you like hiking and climbing! Not too shabby a place to live either if your into the whole hunting, fishing, backpacking, snow skiing scene as well! I think I'm gonna fit in quite alright! -

Kilimanjaro replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
I went ahead and took ya'lls advise and went out this morning to the G&F office and bought me a LIFETIME license.. Tough pill to swallow at first, but when you break it down, it'll have paid for itself in about 4 seasons.. that leaves me MANY more to hunt here in AZ for free! I plan on chasin my Mearns quail till I'm too old to climb up those hills! Not to mention it keeps my in the resident pool when it comes to the sheep, elk and 'lope draws.. -
we bought and watched the fight.. that had to have been the bloodiest fight in UFC history.. that cut on Gonzaga's nose was HUGE! It was a good fight.. the GSP fight wasn't too bad either..
