dang IT FEELS GOOD TO BE HOME!!! MT is a great place to visit, but living there is another story completely.. not selling my house here in AZ was a blessing in desguise!! I think I'll get my MT fix with a week's vacation once a year.. that'll be PLENTY of that place.. Let's just call it an EXPENSIVE lesson learned!! I'm back baby!! Only 8 more months till Mearns season!!

AWESOME pics, Jim!!

Thanks guys.. I found out real quick that MT is best in doses of 2 to 3 weeks in the fall. The rest of the time here is for the birds.. Texans just weren't made for this country.. its big, empty, and there ain't a soul up here. The lack of work up here is hard for someone like me who gets bored REAL easily..I was used to being bombarded every day with work. There is some phenominal hunting up here, but I can't live on hunting alone..I can only hunt so much before I've got a hankerin' to do something else.. I've got to have people around, and good food, and things like that.. all of which is severly lacking in this 3rd world state.. I won't ever regret coming here, but I'm ready to come home to AZ.. Over the last 5 years, AZ became a home to me without me realizing it. It ain't TX for sure, but it's the next best thing for me. But hey, live and learn, right? I've just never been one to turn down an adventure!! When I'm old and on my death bed, I can always look back with a smile and say that I tried it all.. This wasn't the first time, and I'm gonna say it probably won't be the last one either!!

I'm still here Mikey... just haven't really posted anything on here since my buffalo hunt about a month ago.. I've been really busy trying to get my affairs together for getting the heck out of MT and coming back to AZ ASAP. I will be back in Tucson sometime really soon for good.. with a job or without!! I'm just not gonna take a hit on the house I own there and I'm gonna move back and wait the housing recession out. And if the govt wont move me back, well its time to find another job then.. Been busy up here. I've got to be in Las Vegas this weekend and then I've to go to Indianapolis for 2 weeks of EMT training. Also have 4 buddies coming up here to MT from AZ in between those trips to do their buffalo hunts. And THEN, hopefully I'll be packing up and headed back to AZ come March 1!!! Little Sydney is keeping us on our toes for sure! She's gonna be 6 months this weekend already!! She's growing like a weed! Oh yeah, and in all that, I've got to find time to have a little B-Day party!! I'll be turning the big 30!! Its while I'll be in Indy and we've got a good weekend lined up for the big day!

Way to go Casey!! That's quite a feat when you get the slam without moving areas! I'm already chomping at the bit waiting for next season.. only 8 more months! -
very cool, Jim!! That's something you don't get to glass up every trip! Did ya find out any info on those quail you saw down on the place down in Obregon?

I received an email from a buddy yesterday of a 142 coues from northern Sonora.. I havent seen these pics on the board yet.. its a STUD of a buck. I want to show the pics to ya'll, but don't know the dude in the pics and don't want to ruffle anybody's feathers.. Any ideas on how we can get them up so that everybody can see this deer??

One of the greatest explorers of our lifetimes has died at 88. See ya in the hills, Ed.

I know, I know.. tell me about it!! Leave Az during the best part of the year to come up here to MT during the worst! Go figure, its just my luck.. BTW, it's DAMNED cold up here right now.. -15 WITHOUT the windchill.. around -25 when ya factor in both. kinda burns the lungs when ya breath in real deep! With the housing market slump that is now upon us like the plague, I just can't be up here in MT with a nice sized morgage there in Tucson that's not going anywhere. If I'm gonna pay for a nice home, I'm damned sure gonna live there!! Besides, I miss palm trees and my Mexican food more than I could have ever imagined!! But hey, moving back when its getting hot isn't so bad.. San Carlos, HERE I COME!!!

I can't wait to hear what the cowboys on the place have to say!! Jim, we might just have to plan on a week or so down there next season!! I've ALWAYS wanted to chase those birds!! I'll be waiting on the verdict! -

Jim and Casey, here are a couple of pics of the Elegante quail found down towards that area of Mexico. I would LOVE to put together a hunt on a place down that way!! -

sounds like you and Jim had a good time for sure!! Not to worry, if you want your Mex buck on the wall, we'll make him look good for sure!! I LOVE that southern Sonora country. I sure wish ya'll woulda seen some Elegante quail down there on the place.. being that close to Sinaloa, I'm sure there was a covey or 2 around. I want to load the dogs up and do a quail hunt down Obregon way. Maybe I'll tell Jim to keep his eyes open for them while he's down there chasin deer! -
Jamaro and crazyaboutcoues Mexico hunt
Kilimanjaro replied to crazyaboutcoues's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
great looking bucks guys!! And a drop tine on top of that! -
I am truely frightened to add up what I spend on hunting.. Sometimes I start to think about it, and start running numbers in my head, and I just tell myself that if it wasn't hunting, it'd just be something else.. I know... my other hobbies like climbing and scuba diving ain't cheap either. Thats why they ALWAYS take a backseat to my hunting. For now at least!
