    Tucson adult baseball league?

Once you get into the USBP, most if not all of the stations here in Tucson Sector have softball teams as well as a couple have fast pitch baseball teams... all involve lots of beer and lies and MAJOR BS sessions!!

    A couple for Amanda..

Got up at 3AM on Thurs. to beat the heat and crowds and did a leg burner up Mt. Wrightston in the Santa Ritas as fast as I could before I had to be at work by 11!! Saw a few deer and a whole slew of gobblin' Goulds jakes! I'd make a few yelps, and they'd fire off over and over.. Guess they didnt get the memo that summer has set in.. ran into this little guy on the way down.. he wasnt scared of me in the least and he let me get within 3ft of him.. What kind of owl are these?? He looked just like the ones in your video.

    quail

Saw the slam yesterday... the Gambels and Scalies both (saw 3 fam units) had full family covies that had seven to eight 3/4grown chicks, and the Mearns I saw yesterday were paired off and looking like they were getting ready to breed and nest!! Saw 2 pairs..

    A couple for Amanda..

Amanda, that bird was just below the saddle between the peak and Florida canyon. I'm not sure if it's correct, but we've always called that saddle Apache Saddle. Anyways, he was chilling right in that area!!

    Preseason Pics

I'll bet ya dollars to dimes that that truck is stolen, and was loaded with dope, broke down, and they transfered the load. I GER-ON-TEEEE it!! There's a number of them scattered south of the Sierritas in 36A.

    quail

Forgot about this thread... in the last couple of weeks, Ive seen a number of both Gambels and Blue quail family groups.. I saw three groups of blues in one day and all the chicks were half grown and could fly really good. Still seeing groups of Gambels out in the 36 units who are still toting around little cotton ball chicks. I'm hoping these good monsoon rains are hitting all the right areas for my Mearns!!

    Credit Card Hits???????

as per my yearly post on this topic here on CWT, I'm patiently awaiting my IBEX tag to finally be given to me. The State of NM has been holding it for a ransom from me for years now, but I think that this is the year that they're ready to fork it over to it's rightful owner!

    NM high country backpacking

very cool climb!! I climbed Wheeler a few years back, and we saw a handful of sheep up there as well. Beautiful country up there for sure! Did you see any marmots?? We saw some once we were above 12K.. I dont have any climbing plans for this summer (going to Africa hunting), but in Jan, we are headed south of the border to Puebla, Mex. to climb Mt. Orizaba. For those not "into" climbing, its the 3rd highest peak in all of North America. It towers above the Mex countryside at 18,500 ft. Should be fun!! thanks for sharing the great pics!! Sure beats the 110 heat here!!

    gould's turkey poacher

Hmmm. Unless I read it wrong, the fine for the violation was as stated below: Anderson was found guilty by the Cochise County Justice Court #5 for: Count A: Knowingly take wildlife during closed season (Gould’s turkey); and sentenced Count A: Fined $942.00, $314.00 of which was suspended per county attorney plea agreement and Judge’s Order. BUT...the reimbursement of the turkey's value to G&F was just a bit more than a turkey hunt in Mexico would cost, as in: THAT THE DEPARTMENT BE DIRECTED TO COLLECT CIVIL DAMAGES OR TO BRING CIVIL ACTION AGAINST RALPH E. ANDERSON TO COLLECT THE AMOUNT OF $5000.00 FOR THE LOSS OF ONE (1) GOULD’S TURKEY Since he claimed to have eaten it, that was one expensive Thanksgiving dinner at $5,628. It would have probably been cheaper to kill a spotted owl. -TONY I didnt see that little tid but on the 5K part of the deal.. all I saw was the 942 and the 314 end of the deal.. That now said, that was ONE expensive turkey dinner!!

    gould's turkey poacher

the punishment didn't fit the crime though... his fine was less than what it would cost you or I to hunt one LEGALLY in Mexico!! He got off WAY too easily.

    quail

seen a few, but not as many as I would like to... the desert birds are hurting.. lets hope for another good monsoon season down south.. should that happen, it will be a Mearns banner year!!
  25. Man, I remember that morning.. hiking thru a forest of cat claw to a great looking spot, only to hear a WAR going off up the canyon from us.. Oh well, it all panned out later that evening.... lots of hiking that day!!
