Bleaching Skulls?
Kilimanjaro replied to azcouesandelk's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I've never heard of this in my 15+ years as a taxidermist.. Isn't pure amonia extremely corrosive? I'll stick with 40% peroxide. Works like a champ. -
Thank you guys! I had a great day other than getting off at 10AM from 5 LONG nights of overtime and getting to live in the metropolis of Sasabe, AZ!! Gotta pay for those upcoming 2010 African trips!! Hence my missing the BBQ here in town. I was pooped out and came home and caught up on some much needed sleep. My beautiful wife and madre bought me a Leica rangefinder. Great gift that will get put to use alot this year. 32 years old..Whew!! Thanks again, guys!

You can have it!! I made that move once too... One winter cured me of that disease REAL quick! Never again will I live north of PHX!! MT is a wonderful place...to visit and then go home! -
Looks like a TX WT to me.. If it really is an AZ deer, I'd say MD.

Man, nailed it!! Dande is chalk full of elephant.. If I recall correctly, Dande and Chewore both border Mana Pools National Park, thus the reason why the buff and ele can grow.. Hence the good numbers of lions too. When we head back in Oct, we are hunting in Chete this go-round.. It lays on Lake Kariba itself, upriver from Victoria Falls on the Zambia border. Great numbers of both buff and elephant. Highest leopard concentration in the country. But the ivory is better up-river in both Dande North and South and the Chewores. CM safaris is one of the best. Buzz and Miles are DYNO-MITE!! They know their caca.

Must be Africa Now how would you have ever guessed that, DB??? I'm gettin' the itch bad.. Two trips across the big drink this year for me. 1st one in May to South Africa and then back again in Oct to Zimbabwe. 3 months and counting.. Gino, you'll have a great time.. Gotta let me know what concession you're heading to. I'm guessing Chewore North or Dande North.

If you REALLY want a pronghorn, I'd have long since bought a landowner tag in NM or TX or WY or MT or OK or KS or...well, you get the idea!! That said, I'm in with 8 for this draw.

Nice write-up, Tracy!

Well, I don't know exactly how much rain has fell in southern AZ in the last 72 hrs, but I have to say that I've nver seen this much rain fall in the winter time in the 7 years I've been here. Tucson metro got some serious rain. The 36's got a soaking like I've never seen this time of year. And it needed it BAD. It was SO dry out there. Sounds like you N AZ gambles chasers are socked in with lots of the white stuff. That'll help the birds up that way for sure. My precious little birdies will be "cawing' early this year with the explosion of green coming really soon and hopefully we'll all start seeing tons of little fluff balls running around EN MASS shortly! Stanley, we got our wish, I believe.. Now lets just hope that this weather pattern stays and we get a few more rounds of this, have a nice cool spring, and then a great monsoon season (last yr was dismal and the mearns pop. shows it). We have that, and we'll have the "good 'ol days" again real quick. -

Very near mi casa with that sighting.. I live just east of there. -
Hard to tell what his DNA make-up is through a blurry pic on the internet.. No way to tell without genetic testing.. No deer has ever been determined as a true hybrid by a picture.. I would suffice to say that the deer in the pic is just a muley, though.

If the rains come at the right times (winter rains for the desert birds, monsoons for the Mearns), the population change can be unreal in just a season or 2 of above average rainfall AT THE RIGHT TIME. This 15 year drought has devestated the gambels and scalies in the southwest (AZ, NM, and west TX). Pray for rain in this desert. We need it. -
I had uncle Mick a bottle of the finest to help heal the hip, but I snuck it into the luggage bag and it somehow dissapeared in the Ceasars Palace hotel room last weekend while we were there!! Who'da figured?? I'll have to pick him up a new one when I get out of this camp detail and head over that way to wish him well. Hope you relayed the message to him this morning when I called while he was "busy".
