    After the shot

I carry 2 knives with me in the field. I carry a buck zipper. Has the gut hook on it and makes gutting an animal super easy. And I carry a buck skinner which has a steep front edge and makes skinnning easy.

    Archery Proficiency Test????

I think it would limit the number of lost game. I think it would be a good idea but I am not sure if very many people will.

    Heading out tomorrow morning

I will be heading out Thursday afternoon. I am hoping that this is the year my dad will harvest his first coues buck. He has lived in Arizona for 28 years and hunted cous 10 times without tagging one. This is his year.

Wyoming antelope hunt(all 22 minutes of it)

What an experience for you and your son. Good to see you were able to meet up with your ol' hunting buddy after not seeing him for a while. Great pics also.
  12. I am glad that it worked for you.

    whats this years buck forecast

Dont forget about the high population of tarantulas this year Jim THANKS hadn't thought about them until now. I will be sleeping on the ground the entire hunt with them dang critters too! JIM> Sorry about that man I had to get you excited for your hunt. I am sure you won't see a rattlesnake or a tarantula. And I am sure that you will see plenty of deer.

How early should hunt camp be setup?

Well we already have our camp setup down there. It has been setup for 3 weeks now We parked our trailer at the RV park in Arivaca. The area we are hunting though is an hour drive from town so we need to get up early and get out on the hill before sunrise. From door to glasing it is just under 2 hours. We will head down the afternoon before the hunt and do as Arizona Guide said. We will cruise the roads and see what other camps are there and how many and talk to some people and figure out what they are going to do so we do not disrupt there hunts and hopefully they won't disrupt ours.

    Slopes?

Ok after reading in the topic about the differences from the October and the November hunt I am wondering. I have been spotting most of my bucks on the southern facing slopes feeding. The only thing is most of these bucks have been spotted at first or last light. Are the northern facing slopes the places where they will bed down?
  17. The choice is yours. Whatever gets the most votes is what I will chage my name to.

    whats this years buck forecast

On the weekend of the 7th I came across 3 rattlers. 2 blacktails and a western diamondback. That will be on my mind while walking the whole time.

    What should my name be?

Ok I made the decision. I will stay as younghunter til I reach 2000 post and then will figure it out from there. So everybody you are stuck with younghunter for at least another 3 or 4 years.

    whats this years buck forecast

I am seeing alot more bigger bucks than last year. The undergrowth this year is thick and tall. Some places it will be difficult to glass but there should be some monsters hitting the ground this year.

    Shed and Head

Well I went over to a buddies house tonight and he gave me a good coues rack and a really nice shed. This is the rack he gave me. I gross scored it at 84 3/8 and it has a 16 5/8 spread. Here is the shed he gave me. I scored it at 50 2/8. It has 11 3/8 inches of mass with only 3 measurements. Here is the shed next to the rack. Both the rack and the shed were found close to each other. Looks like the same genetics to me.

    Some old sheds

I think I may have posted some of these before but just to get everybody pumped up for there hunts this year. Here is a big eyeguard monster. I scored this guy at 51 3/8. I think I measured him bigger before, but that was before I knew how to measure. Here is a monster shed. I scored this shed at 50 5/8 and the g3 on this guy is 8 6/8. Tough to see in the picture though. Also he has a gnarly looking end on his mainbeam. Here is an extremely old beat up shed that I found on my first coues hunt. It has a 5 1/8 inch base on it!!! Even with it all beat up it scores right at 40. Here is a shed that I found while quail hunting this last year. I have only seen coues in the area but I am not sure whether it is a muley or coues shed. Anyways it scores at 46 1/8. Ok I saved the best for last. This shed was found in an area where it is 99.9% coues. This shed scores 57 4/8 with a 21 3/8 mainbeam. Everybody have a great hunting season and I hope these pics get you pumped up to get out in the field.

    Some old sheds

The eyeguard is 7 5/8 inch.

    Shed and Head

I thought that you measure between the skull and the g1 inbetween the g1 and g2 then inbetween the g2 and g3 then you get the 4th mass measurement if you there is a g4. I will remeasure it and see what I get and all my other sheds also.
