I am going to be shooting at the Mormon Lake Shoot on the 9th and will plan on heading up to hang out with everybody and camp out up there also. -
Who all is going to make it up to the shoot this weekend? I will be going and attempt it. This will be my first shoot so my expectations arent to high for myself but I am looking forward to meeting some fellow archers and learning a thing or two. If you are heading up let me know and maybe we can carpool so we dont have to burn as much money on gas.

Nice videos looks like you are getting to see a good amount of bulls in that area. Hopefully it will stay like that for the hunt! What kind of camera setup do you have and how much did it cost you if you dont mind me asking? -
David keep up the good work and you will be rewarded with another great bull like 2 season ago. I still enjoy reading your story in the AZOD magazine every now and then

I plan on being there around 7:30 on the 9th and shooting all day so we should at least get 1 round to shoot together. I will also have to bring up some of those sheds I was telling you about!

Mark good to see you made it onto the forum. It was a pleasure to meet you this weekend and hopefully we can meet up again at the Mormon Lake shoot again in a couple of weeks! Dave that looks like an old Scout 800. That is what my dad wants to get next so we can rebuild it for him! Thanks for sharing that picture it is definatly an awesome picture with alot of character.

I actually have the 9uth and 10th off of work so I will be up there to shoot that weekend. Josh and Stan if you want to shoot together just let me know. Also my boss's brother Frank Ortiz placed first in the bow hunter happening and won the triple crown for the senior age division for the bowhunter class so I thought I would congratulate him.

Nice job man and I am sure you will have an opprotunity this fall! Keep up the hard work like you always do!

Looks like a very successful outing! Does that muley skull have a little growth on its right antler?

It was a pleasure to shoot with you today Stan. I learned alot from watching you and Travis shoot. Lance I know that by 3 yesterday afternoon around 500 shooters had registered!!! There were several archery shops that came up and set up a little display and Jim White had a booth there also. Also forgot to say thanks Steve (rthrbhntng) for coming up this afternoon and giving me the pointers it helped out greatly.

Got back from the clints well shoot today and shot all day yesterday and all day today. This was my first shoot and I am very happy with how I did only lost/ruined 3 arrows and averaged 120 per round, which is averaging 8 per shot. Was able to meet up with some familiar folks and meet up with some new faces. Josh it was good meeting you and next time I am up that I way I will have to bring some sheds by to show you. Ron it was good seeing you again and always good to see families out there together. Rob it was good to shoot with ya and I hope your feeling better now and have some arrows left over

Ok I was lucky enough to draw my first ever archery bull tag this season. Right now I am shooting 100 grain tips and my arrow, fletchings, glue, insert, knock and tip added together is around 385 grams. I have been told to try to get over 400 grams. My question is with me shooting at 60 pounds should I look for a heavier arrow or should I stay with the same arrow and go with a 125 grain broadhead? I do not want to mess up my opprotunity at a great bull if I am lucky enought to have the opprotunity.

I think you will be pleased with what you find out when you test them. The short head gives the same spine and foc as a field tip. The cut on contact more than makes up for the shortness. It is a good balance of size, demension and design that produces excellent arrow flight. You made a very important comment before about spinning your arrows to make sure the broadhead is true. If you have the time, do a test where you shoot 3 true broadheads numbered 1,2,3 and 3 that wobble when you spin them numbered 4,5,6. Shoot each broadhead 10 times each charting each group. You can try this same test between different styles and types of broadheads. If you find one that flys better and groups better than a wac em, let me know please!!! From what I have heard the slick tricks are just as good if not better and they have 4 blades so you get some extra cuts in there.
-
If you read all the reviews about slick tricks and most of the reviews from wac ems actually they all fly just like field tips. I have some slick tricks on order and plan to do a review on them.
-
I have tried shooting the Muzzy MX-3 and it shot the same as my regular muzzy 3 blade. My groupings would open signifacantly and the grouping would be low and right. Not to impressed with the muzzy'a at all.

I have seen deer snack on the spikes but never on the stock. I am sure that they will. Interesting find and keep us posted if you do come across a deer chewing on one.
-
Man that thing has some mass Wouldn't mind nailing him with my bow. You hiding anything else from us?
-
Right now I am debating whether to go with the Wac em 100 grains or the slick trick 100 grain magnums. I am really leaning toward the slick tricks because I have heard so many good reports about them.
-
Great find Troy! Keep up the good work and you will get yourself a deer this year!
-
I was out at Usery from about 9 til 12 today than stopped by work to test the bow there. I will give you a call next time I can make it out there.

Bringing back up an old topic but I had my arrows weighed today and had my bow chronographed. With my Diamond Rapture with a 28 inch draw pulling between 70-72 pounds I am shooting 268.7 fps with 403 grain arrow/tip setup. I am very happy with the performance of my setup and am looking forward to September.
