How about we try to get a reserved table for cwt.com? There are 8 seats per table and a reserved table costs $800. Wit ha reserved table $200 worth of tickets is thrown in. If anybody wants to do this let me know. I wont be able to sit down since I will be working the function, but I would love to see a bunch of cwt members there.

advice on stalking in the desert

You arent allowed to enter an animal in the record books if you use radios, but you can use them while hunting.

For javelina you may legally use any centerfire rifle or a .22 mag. rifle. Call game and fish and get an exact awnser, but on the guide test that is the correct awnser.

    Dads December Buck

First of all I have to say that my dad pushed himself beyond his limits on this hunt. He scouted several weekends before the hunt including the 3 days prior to the hunt, he also hunted 6 full days by himself and 2 days with me before he harvested a buck. Throughout his scouting and the hunt he was able to find a couple of good buck, but nothing that he wanted because they were either to small or in areas he didnt think he could navigate safely. I would get updates daily while he was down by himself since I was either stuck in school or at work. He did come home for several days for my graduation from the fire academy and some much needed rest. On Wednesday the 23rd we went into an area we have hunted before in hopes of finding some good bucks. The morning started out great with lots of deer being seen and some good rutting activity. We watched several bucks chase does all over, make scrapes and even spar a little. We did manage to glass up 1 buck we thought would go close to 100, but the country was really rough and we didnt know if the buck had bedded in the canyon or not. We continued glassing finding several more bucks and then I glassed up a buck chasing does on a distant hill. We watched the buck go in some trees and never come out so we moved to get closer. When we arrived on the point I setup to relocate the buck and found him bedded in a matter of minutes. We started to setup and the buck got up and started to chase does. My dad had a solid rest and the buck stopped and I ranged him at 475 yards. My dad settled his 400 yard crosshair just above the bucks back and slowly squeezed the trigger. The buck hunched up and ran 20 yards and laid down under a tree. We moved around and my dad shot another time at the buck from 400 yards even, and I saw the buck just drop his head. Just to be safe I stayed back and led my dad into where the buck was. When he got about 20 yards from the tree the buck stood up, but my dad finished him off with a quick offhand shot. Afterwared we realized his first shot was a liver shot and that his second shot had grazed the bucks antler and skimmed along the top of his head! This is my dads 3rd buck and definately was his hardest hunt. He was able to break in his new rilfe and able to harvest his first animal with his own reloads and he is still on cloud 9! The buck isnt as big as he had hoped for, but my dad couldnt be more proud of him. The packout was a tough 3 1/2 miles and took 3 hours but it was worth it.

    2010 Archery Javelina

Since my sister got married and moved back to Nebraska her new husband had decided to get into the hunting scene thanks to my dad and myself. One of his old friends whol lives in Nebraska has been taking him out for deer, pheasant, quail, duck, squirrel and so on. My dad invited him down for an archery javelina hunt and the hunt was on. After arriving at camp at 4 a.m. due to airplane troubles thanks to the -10 degree weather in Omaha we were ready for a few hours of rest and then some serious hunting! We got to our point right at first light and glassed for a few hours turning up a herd of mulies and several whitetail, but no bucks. Then my dad glassed up a pig, yes just 1 javelina all by itself! With Tim in from Nebraska I went with him to help him on the stalk. We got to 10 yards, but with the pig in thick cover no shots were taken. That afternoon we went to an area by camp to glass where we had seen pigs in the past. After about 2 hours I glassed up a herd way high up on the mountain. After a 1 1/2 mile stalk with a 850 ft. elevation climb we were within 50 yards of the pigs. We had lots of opprotunities at pigs at 35 to 40 yards, but Tim wanted a 25 yard or closer shot. After about 30 minutes we had a pig walk by at 26 yards and he made a great shot with the pig expiring within 100 yards. I didn't have any shot opprotunities at the rest of the pigs, but Tim had his first pig on the first day and it was a big boar that was really old, his teeth were worn down even with his gums. We hunted the next couple of days mainly for deer when on the afternoon of the 4th I glassed up a herd of 8 pigs and moved in to try to get one. I got 55 yards and I had a covey of quail bust out and spook the pigs. I watched the pigs run 250 yards and go back to feeding, so I moved in again. This time I got to 70 yards and another covey of quail busted out and the pigs were gone for good this time. I returned to camp and told my dad and Tim that I was done not caring about killing a pig and that I was gonna kill on the next morning. So this morning we woke up and went to the same area, but got there about 45 minutes after light. We glassed for about 45 minutes when I found a heard of 10+ pigs. I moved in and got caught in an opening. I saw one of the larger pigs ahead of me and ranged him at 65 yards, I drew back and got comfortable. I squoze the trigger and watched my arrow shave the pigs back! I watched him run for about 1/2 a mile. Now I was even more upset blowing this opprotunity. I walked about 10 yards forward and saw 3 juvinille pigs at around 25 yards. I decided a pig is a pig and drew back and settled in. This time I hit the pig perfect and took out the lungs. He ran about 5 yards and fell over. All I have to say is that this was teh easiest packout I ever had and I got to break in the new Hoyt!

    How much snow in 23?

Just got back and on top at the young rd and 260 intersection it was still around 18 inches and there was still 4 to 6 inches down around 5500 ft. elevation. It was a blast being able to be out and glass the snow covered hills.
