No antelope tag again, but I got an early archery elk tag.
-
It will just show your first choice if you were not drawn. If you drew your second choice it would come up.

Got through and checked for my ol' man and no elk and still max points for antelope. I would think he would draw 1 tag in over 30 years

I got a call from a good friend Mr. Jonathon around 10 am on the 16th saying they just saw a big cat on a calf kill. So we were able to get a hold of a good lion guide that would go down and run his dogs for the cat the next morning. My dad and the guide with the dogs got to the calf kill and the cat was up a tree within 100 yards of the kill in under 5 minutes. Game and fish aged the cat between 8 and 9 years with an estimated live weight of 140 lbs. I will be posting some more pictures when we get them.

I am only going to make 1 post on this subject and that is it. It is really sad that sportsmen are so obsessed with losing 1 tag from a hunt that would go to raffle or auction in order to help prolong the sport of hunting in this great state. For example if we take 1 tag out of unit 10 for the early archery hunt there would be 199 tags available for draw instead of 200. Now we auction that tag off and bring in $5000 for the tag, all that money is going right back to keep hunting alive and opening up more land for us to hunt. We need groups like the AZSFW to not only fight legislation that goes through that most sportsmen will never hear about, but to also keep the sport alive. This bill was not only going to help out the sport in the long run, it was also in place to help open up more private property for the average joe hunter who cannot afford to go up to the high dollar ranches in some of the best antelope units and now some of the best elk units. These changes may not have been scene in the first 5 years, but as everybody preaches on here we need to think about the future for the kids. This bill was going to be one of the best things that could have happened for the future generations in this state. There has also been talk about how this will be the first step to having landowner tags. How is it possible that will happen when it is stated that the proceeds of these tag sales will go fourth to help open up for private land for public access. I know that BPJ has taken a beating from just about everybody who has posted on here and he has done nothing but responded to all of the questions and criticism. BPJ I hope you know there are people out there that do care about this state and support a lot of your opinions. Keep up the great work

Strings good on Hoyt Carbon Element RKT?
azcouesandelk replied to Kelco's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
You are correct on the new strings on the hoyts not having the floating yoke now. That was my bad on the misinformation -
Great job Troy!!! Wish I could have been there but work obligations kept me away. Like stated before it has been great seeing you grow up through all of your stories that you post on here. Keep it up!!!

Strings good on Hoyt Carbon Element RKT?
azcouesandelk replied to Kelco's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Factory string from hoyt will be the fuse strings and they are decent. The do have a floating yolk so you will never be able to keep cam lean away completely but they should last you through at least a season. -
I drew mine last year with 9 points and donated the tag to OE4A... my dad still has not drawn and is now up to 12 points I believe.

A 20" outside spread on a typical frame buck is going to be a buck that has a 16 to 17 inch inside spread depending on how massive he beams are and how his tine configuration is. I would love to see pictures of the buck you are talking about. If you look at the space between the antlers from base to base on the inside is normally around 2 to 2 1/2 inches depending on the buck.

Way to go Allen on yet another great buck!!!

No back to back for me and the ol' man is up to 11 points for turkey now

Hey guys and gals I am wanting to start working up a good load for my .280 and was wondering if anybody could help me out. I am looking to use 160 grain Nosler Accubonds with either IMR-4350 or Alliant Reloader 22 and was curious if anybody could help me out with the max loads and starting points for these. Also if anybody has worked up loads for there .280 what worked for them. Thanks guys and gals.

Well after spending 6 months in Nebraska I have come to the conclusion that AZ is where I belong. I will be moving back in the middle of October and cannot wait to get back out to chase some coues bucks around.
-
Stanley I wish I could but I will be unpacking still most likely. I do have a 36c early November tag so I am hoping to smoke a big buck this season.
