Wish I had known you were in the market for a 257 Roberts John. I have a 700BDL 257 Improved with a stainless barrel that I am considering getting rid of as soon as I can find the value of it. I had the original barrel built by Atkinson out of Prescott in the 70's and then some more work on it later by H&S Precision. I will take a look and see if I have any Roberts brass around. I know I have some but they have been fireformed to the 28 degree shoulder. If I can find any I will let you have it. If I decide to keep the rifle I know I have a straight line seater around somewhere I may let go if that helps any.

I can totally relate. God pulled me out of drug addiction and alcoholism over 30 years ago. I served Him in many capacities. I drifted away for spells but always came back. Over the last 3 years due to various circumstances I lost both parents, my wife left me and a 34 year long marriage ended in divorce, lost my business and nearly everything else that I had in this world. It is very difficult to believe in a loving God when you have been stripped of all you have and your prayers may as well be directed to the wall. Still, deep inside I know He hears and cares. It is difficult to understand or accept things. The prophet Isaiah wrote "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. I don't understand but as difficult as it is we must hang on to the hope and belief that He will do what He says He will do. It is all I have.

Sorry about that. The bow adjusts 60-70 lbs.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. They are willing to imprison law abiding citizens. BTW, where is our great Sheriff Joe on this issue? He is willing to call a press conference and roll out a swat team to arrest a housekeeper but is staying pretty quiet for him. Looks like a great platform to get himself some more of the public spotlight. http://gopthedailydose.com/2013/01/26/the-resistance-begins-new-york-gun-owners-refuse-to-register/

The only way the Fed's will confiscate my guns is when they step over my dead body to get through my front door. Cold dead fingers ! No bravado or chest beating. Just cold hard fact. I think many feel the same way. You can be sure that there will be examples made of many by the Feds just to get the attention of other gun owners. Either comply or face the full extent of the "law." IMO we are at a crossroads as to what direction this country is going to take. We are headed into government control of all facets of our lives. I don't like it one bit.

The fecal matter is going to hit the fan and hit it soon. I am curious what gun owners will actually do. There is a lot of chest beating and bravado but at the end of the day are we going to do exactly what is legislated to us? I think that will be the case.

My antivirus is freaking out every time I click on something on CW. It says my browser is attempting to download a Trojan. It just started this today. Anyone else having issues? Just curious.

I got nothing when I logged on now. It is the first time in awhile this has happened. Malwarebytes free has no active protection. It is an on demand program. If you want to upgrade to the paid version it is one of the best out there in protecting your computer. I run Kaspersky and Malwarebytes Pro together with no problems at all after setting exclusions. It is a great program.

Amanda, my AV is still saying there is a Trojan and it is still blocking it. FWIW, I have the forums bookmarked and use it to access the site. Also use Firefox as my browser. If someone's antivirus is not giving a notice that there is a malicious threat then I would either check my notification settings or be a little concerned about something may have infected my computer. But then again I am pretty paranoid too

I don't know what antivirus everyone is using but I am using Kaspersky AV 2013. It blocks the download but it happens everytime I click on anything on this website.

Need Help Finding Some Small Rifle Primers
creed replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I was planning on selling all of my reloading stuff but not now! I am hanging on to every last bit of it with the exception of possibly my .257 Improved. -
Michigan tells Unions to back off
creed replied to DesertBull's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I worked union for years. They are biggest waste of manpower that I have ever seen. H3ll would freeze over first before I worked union again. -
This is what my dad uses. He gets years of use out of them. He is 82 years old, crippled from polio, weighs 230 pounds and leans on his stick all day. They are lightweight and nearly indestructible. Just don't leave them in the back of a pickup in a public parking place. They have a way of vanishing. http://www.canecentral.com/hvy-1231.html

That's a good price but you are either going to want to download topo maps from GPSfiledepot or buy their SD card for around $100. I am not crazy about the touch screen. You will want to get a touch screen friendly screensaver. Battery life is shorter than the eTrex so carry extra batteries. A cigarette lighter adapter is a good investment too. If you do a lot of driving back county there are mounts and cradles for it but I can never get the suction cup type to work well for me. I have a bolt on cradle that I use on my Rhino. Another thing is that Garmin no longer supplies owner manuals. You can download one but it doesn't help me alot when my computer is at home and I am out in the field. I could print it off but carrrying a bunch of 8x11 paper around is something I don't want to do. As Slim mentioned, their customer service is about as bad as it gets. If it is under warranty then you get an exchange. They won't simply repair a problem with a unit out of warranty but are going to charge you a fixed amount regardless of the problem. I had a scratched screen on my 60csx that I needed replaced. They would not repair it but instead charged me $110 for a refurbished unit. That unit wouldn't accept an SD card so they swapped it. The compass wouldn't work on that one so I swapped it again. I don't remember if their warranty was 30 or 90 days but I had trouble with it shortly after the warranty expired and got to pay another $110 for another refurbished unit that I eventually gave to a member on this forum. I then turned around and bought the Oregon. I learn things the hard way because the touch screen on the one I own now is getting insensitive and it isn't going to last much longer. When the Oregon I have now takes a dump I am going to look at another manufacturer. It is a decent unit but I have no love for Garmin.

Looks like I am going turkey and pig hunting. That is nice to know just before I head out the door to go elk hunting

Put a screen saver over the face and it will help some.

This country will be fundamentally changed by the end of his term. There will be Supreme Court justices appointed that will tilt the court to the liberal side. Our basic rights are at jeopardy. In the name of compassion, tolerance, choice and a free phone we are going to become a socialist country.

I pulled this off of Wikipedia The most common subspecies of Mohave Green rattlesnake (type A) has venom that is considered to be the most debilitating and potentially deadly of all North American snake,[11] although chances for survival are very good if medical attention is sought as soon as possible after a bite.[12] This is probably where the difference of the "red" and "green" Mohave comes in to play. There is type A and Type B with type B being the less harmful of the two. An article stated in the digital desert stated that a Mohave bite is 16 times more toxic than a sidewinder. If you get bit by one of these guys you may have a serious problem if you are away from immediate help.

I have had a lot of experience with snake bite living on a farm/ranch all of my life. I have seen numerous cows, horses, and dogs bitten. My dad, mom and daughter have been bitten. My daughter was bitten by a green Mohave. It was not pretty and we nearly lost her. Neither of my parents went to a doctor although both should have. My dad was in bed for over a week and my mom's foot swelled up like a blimp. Our doctor told us had my daughter been bitten by a red Mohave she would have probably not made it so the kind of snake is going to be a huge factor. Something many medical personnel don't account for is infection. It can be worse than the bite itself. And as Slim mentioned there are dry bites. One of my girlfriends was bitten twice in her teen years. Both bites were dry.

I have priced this stuff out by comparing it to comparable items on other classified sites. There is more than I have listed here but a conservative estimate is around $625 including the bench. I am going to let the 700MZ go for $100. The bolt is corroded and should probably be upgraded to 209 primers. The corrosion is my fault for not taking it apart and cleaning it after a friend used it. I took his word that it was clean and it has been in storage for several years. With a bit of cleaning it would probably be ok though. I have a .44 caliber black powder pistol and holster. It is in good shape. I will let it go for $150. If anyone is interested pm me. I may consider offers on some of this stuff and may eventually be piecing it out if it doesn't move in the next couple of weeks but I am not there yet. I'll try to get some pics of the reloading stuff up in a day or two.

I may be selling this stuff.....maybe. Due to a number of reasons I am left with the chore of cleaning up what is left of my family's hunting stuff. I have become a bowhunter and haven't rifle hunted in nearly 15 years so I am out of the loop as to what this stuff is worth, I was wondering if anyone out there could give me an idea of what it is worth. All opened containers are estimates of what is in them. There is just too much to sit and measure/count out. Powder.....7 unopened cans of IMR 4350, 1/2 lb of R19, 3/4 pound of 4064. 650 Winchester Large Rifle Primers, 175 Winchester Magnum Primers, 520 CCI magnum Primers, 200 Federal 209 shotshell primers. Reloading dies.....these have the decapping pin broken off......22/250, Herters .243, 30/30.....part of this one is missing. These dies appear to be intact.......RCBS 30-06 SB, 30-06 FL, .243, 270 WIn, 7mm Rem. Mag. I also have a set of .257 Improved dies and straight line seater but I may keep them unless I decide to sell the rifle they go with. #2 and 3 shellholder, case de- burring tool, 3 low end scopes......Weaver K4, Tasco and Redfield 3x9. I have a Pacific DL-155 shotshell reloader with various bushings and attachments, an RCBS Rockchucker Press (I think?) with automatic primer feeder and powder measure. .284 bullets...these are partial boxes and estimates of what is in them. 1x 150gr Sierra spitzer, 50% full. 1x Nosler Ballistic tip 120 gr, 40% full. 1x Nosler Partition 140 gr, 50%. 3x unopened 140 gr Sierra SBT. .270......2x new 140 gr Sierra SBT, 1x 130 gr Sierra SBT. 1x Barnes X Bullets, 120 grain 60% full. 1x Sierra 130 grain SBT 60% 6mm...... 1x Nosler 55 grain, 75%. 2x Sierra 100 grain SBT 75%. 1x Sierra 100 gr SBT, 50%. .25.....Speer Hot Cor 75 gr, 60%, Nosler 90 gr. solid base, 60% .30 caliber..... 1 unopened box of Sierra 150 gr. spitzer and a partial of 30 more. There is a reloading bench that this stuff was kept in. It has both reloading presses mounted to it and lots of storage. It is an old biology class lab table and weighs a ton but makes a great reloading bench. Also several older reloading manuals from Hornady, Barnes, Nosler and Sierra and an old shotgun reloading manual. I have a .45 caliber traditions blackpowder pistol in decent shape and a Remington 700 MZ that I loaned to a friend for an elk hunt. He told me he cleaned it and did a piss poor job of it. The barrel is pitted some but most people have told me that it is not bad enough to affect accuracy. There is other stuff such as a 700BDL stainless barrel .257 Improved with the 28 degree shoulder. The stock is dinged up pretty good in a spot or two and it needs a good cleaning but the barrel is floated and the action bedded. There are a couple of older rifles and shotguns that I am still trying to decide what to do with them. If I decide to sell this stuff, with the exception of the guns I want to sell it as a lot. I don't have time to fool around with piece selling it. Any thoughts of what I could get for it?
-
I have started looking up prices on the web. It is going to take me a few days to get it all done. The problem I have with piecing it out is that the more popular stuff will go quickly and I will be left with a bunch of miscellaneous stuff that will eventually end up in the dumpster.. I need to get all of it out of here due to the house and property being up for sale. Having said that I may have to sell it seperately but don't really want to. I have a couple of guys interested in it as a lot but I need to get some value to it. I will probably sell the firearms seperately should I decide not to keep them.
-
I know that I could get more piecing it out but I am not sure I want to fool with doing that. I am cleaning the place up and have a lot going on. There is more stuff that i didn't mention like empty brass. I had hoped to get an idea of what it may be worth but if I have to go to piecing it out and pricing it individually that is going to take more time. Thanks for the replies.

Great buck! That didn't come out of 18B did it? I just finished up an archery hunt there and was on one 3 different times that was very similar to that.
