Considering selling my '76 CJ7. I have owned it since 1978. It's been pretty much parked for the last 18 years since I have gone to using either quads or side x sides. I have put maybe 5000 miles on it in that time frame. It is cosmetically a mess from sitting so long in the sun. Seats are cracked and need seat covers. Doors panels need to be pulled off and linkages lubricated. It has minor electrical problems......dimmer switch needs to be replaced, one tailight doesn't work and fuel gauge is erratic. It may work today but not tomorrow. Paint is faded. It has leaked out a pint of transmission fluid in the last 3 years between the transfer case and tranny mating surfaces. Quadra Trac vacuum lines probably need to be replaced. Tires are starting to sun crack. I live in a rural area outside of emissions testing so it has never been emission tested. In the last 21K miles everything with the exception of the rear differential has been gone through including the engine and tranny. Transfer case was opened up and needed nothing so it was put back when the engine and transmission were out. All body bushings with the exception of one were replaced along with leaf springs. It may need shocks. Hoses and belts were replaced about 5 years ago but time is probably starting to get to them. It had a major brake job 15K miles ago. Specs are full time 4 wheel drive, hard top, 304 V8 engine, automatic transmission with Quadra Trac. Biggest thing wrong with it is sitting in the sun and not being driven. Asking $4500.

I have an older 700ADL that loves 65 grains of 4831 and 160 grain Partitions. Also pretty fond of 140 grain boat tail bullets and 66 grains of 4350.

Welcome to Police State USA. He shot a guy with his hands in the air. An MCSO deputy held my 60 year old aunt at gunpoint because her truck was the color of a truck that was used in a robbery 10 hours before. She tried to tell him that she couldn't hold her hands in the air as he commanded because of a disability. Didn't matter. He held her at gunpoint until backup arrived. She is 5'2" and 140 lbs soaking wet. She was a big threat for sure.

Told ya! LOL!

Good luck on your hunt's guys. We can disagree on many things but what's important is that we are doing what we love to do. There are mule deer out there that I haven't seen. Gonna spend the next week trying to change that. Shoot straight.
-
no one in this thread even said they would take the shot. they said if they were practiced and proficient at that range they would. dont see how taking shorter shots makes you a better bowhunter either, but if that makes you feel like it than cool. i feel like a good bowhunter when i kill. edit: i dont shoot with turrets on my rifle but i dont go telling my friends im a better hunter than them because they shoot long range Really? My archery skills haven't changed much over the years. My hunting skills have. I can get closer than that now. That makes me a better bowhunter than I was when I took a 92 yard shot with the key word being "hunter."
-
Looks like I am out of my league with you long shot guys. My longest kill was 92 yards on an antelope. I have learned alot since then and wouldn't take it again if given the opportunity. I have become a better bowhunter.
-
Long shots are taken when hunting the west but a shot that far is irresponsible and reckless. I don't care who you are or how good you think you are that is just not a good shot to take on a target that is capable of moving. I have more respect for an animal I am hunting than that. JMO

Unfortunately it is part of public land hunting. I have bumped guys unknowingly and did what I thought was the right thing and either apologized, backed off or both. The "it's all about me" attitude is a sign of the condition of our society today. Not many people out there that care about what they are doing to others as long as they are doing what they want. Run in's with others are going to happen. It is how we handle it that matters. And remember that no matter what kind of jerk the other guy is if he is not breaking the law there is not much that can be done about it. Whip his arse and you are the one in trouble, not him.

Javelina costs us over $20K in damages and lost yield in one field alone. I begged bowhunters to thin out the herd. The unit manager even had us in his unit description of where to hunt javelina. I hated them.

42 and 44A are tough pig units unless you know a local farmer that will give you access to hunt the ag areas, you get plain lucky or are one of those that have a good pig spot located from hard work. Not many pigs in either. 39 has a ton of pigs along the Gila River. We counted over a hundred coming out of the salt cedars into an alfalfa field one evening several years ago. I would suggest trying to get access from local farmers in the areas along the Gila. Pigs are a pain in the arse to farmers and getting access to hunt shouldn't be too difficult from most of them. You will run into a guy once in awhile that won't allow you in but many will. Good luck.

I've been to several places trying to buy a 2014 OTC deer tag. Same story every place I have been......can't sell them until Jan.1, 2014. Called the Phoenix G&F office and the lady in the license department said if I wanted to come into the office they could generate one off of the computer but they aren't available any other way right now. She said it was due to the restructuring of the licenses. I have a hunt scheduled for Jan. 1 and don't want to be standing in line to buy a freakin' deer tag so I guess I will drive to the Carefree office Monday. There has to be a better way of managing things than this.
-
I don't think it is a matter of them selling them anymore. The way I understand it it is because of their restructuring of the license system that has everything screwed up. Hopefully this will be a one time problem. I wish you could buy them online.
-
You have the 2014 tag or license? If you want the OTC tag before Jan you have to drive to the office to get one. They may have them the last week of Dec or they may not.

Any of you unit 42 deer hunters know what is going on at the south end of the Vultures near the Black Butte? I was up there today looking around for the muzzy hunt. They are setting up some kind of construction office and are pushing a road right through my deer hunting camp. There is a well rig and another road to the north of there a mile or so about a half mile from a G&F drinker and survey stakes over maybe 4-6 square miles. I have been hunting that area since the 70's and it is hard to see it
-
Donnie, I have exchanged emails with a person that should know that suspects it may be part of either a new mine or the expansion of an existing mine. The existing mine in that area has shut down access across the mountains and I am afraid that will be the case now. If the current trend holds there will be loss of access through the area and because of perceived dangers from firearms this whole area will be closed down to the public. My orginal thoughts were that it would cover a 4-5 square mile area but after more thought the number of survey stakes could mean nearly double that. It makes me sick to see it but obviously it is going to happen and happen soon.

OK, went up to the Carefree office and bought a 2014 deer and lion tag. It was pretty painless. They were helping a couple of other guys at the booths and one customer service rep was waiting for me There still should be a better way of handling things than this. I am not a big bitcher when it comes to the Dept but it sucks to drive 80 miles one way to get a deer tag.

Just curious about the left over pig tags........do you have to fill out an application and take it in or do you just tell them what hunt number you want?

Start over again with everything centered. If you can't get it to come together and the groups are nice and tight sight it in with broadheads and go hunting. I have walk back tuned my bows for years and have great groups. My most accurate bow NEVER would group broadheads and field points to the same POI regardless of what I tried. I am sure it was a spine issue since I shot the same arrow spine since I had started archery. I own multiple bows and all of them needed a .340 arrow spine and I was reluctant to buy a dozen arrows for this one bow. Just out of curiousity what kind of cams does this bow have. If it is a 2 cam have you checked timing? Sometimes we get so hung up on something like this that it takes away the fun of archery. Sight it in and go have some fun and quit worrying about it.

Let's hope he can't pull it off but I wouldn't put anything past this bunch. They are Marxist/Communists and will try most anything to further their agenda. They are above the law and he writes executive orders anytime he can't get what he wants. The only possible thing that may slow them down is the mid-term elections and I doubt that will happen. Between voter fraud and stupidity on the American people's end of it I wouldn't hold my breath that there will be much change in the balance of power. If we are not yet past the point of no return we are not far from it IMO.

Some of these guys, AzSlim, ruthunter, donniedent know what they are talking about. They are all pretty fair desert mule deer hunters. They have been there. I would add this........If you are hunting alone the flats will drive you nuts. I would suggest finding rolling hill country with a good permanent water source. I hunt alone more often than not and unless I have a partner don't spend much time hunting flats.

Recently Carbon Express quality has taken a dump. A good friend just had 5 out of 24 Maxima Hunters spin true. Haven't had any issues with Victory's being fragile but I shoot the V1's and they are a heavier wall arrow than the VAP's. But I am dying to get a dozen VAP's. I have heard lots of good things about them. There are many quality arrows out there. The ACC's are one of the best. Don't really see how you can go wrong with top end Carbon Express, Easton, Goldtip or Victory.
-
That's kind of like asking what is the best truck, Dodge, Ford or Chevy. You are going to get a lot of different answers. I have shot just about all of the top of the line arrows out there at one time or another. Right now I am shooting Carbon Express Maxima Reds. They are a great arrow. When I have lost or busted them and need another dozen it will be Victory. You are going to be hard pressed to beat Victory arrows for an all around arrow. When you look at the price for the quality you get there is nothing out there that will beat them.

Obamacare phone number, what they think of us
creed posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
This should be an idication of what our government thinks of us. http://twitchy.com/2013/10/03/screwed-confirmed-dont-miss-hilarious-national-obamacare-phone-number-pic/ -
I am not going to go into a Biblical rant but I think many of us know where we are headed. I am ready. I was born to a farming family and have lived in the country all of my life. You prepare for the bad times because you know they are coming. Not to is just bad judgement or a head in the sand mentality. Gold and silver coin is frowned upon by most financial advisors but it will be worth something when paper is not. Freeze dried food will last for many years and bottled water is cheap. Other things to stay ready, gasoline, gear to live in the outdoors if needed, guns and ammo. Lee loaders work great for emergency reloading because you can sit in the floor and load ammo without a press. I think most of us that hunt and fish are more or less prepared if for no other reason but because of our love for the outdoors. I believe that time grows short. This world or society cannot continue on the course it is on without a major blowout.
