Don't know what county you guys let your dogs run but Maricopa County has a leash law. Also have been told by LEO's that if you are having trouble with dogs destroying property or harrassing livestock to shoot them. http://scottsdalecanineacademy.com/maricopa-county-leash-laws/

Political Discussions request
creed replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Unfortunately whether we like it or not politics affects every facet of our lives including hunting. This country is in the shape it is in right now because of political apathy. -
Arrows seem to be angling to the right on target
creed replied to apache12's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
What Kent said. I read so much stuff on the boards that isn't really relevant to so much of what guys are concerned with. Perfect bullet holes, bareshaft tuned to identical point of impact which if spine isn't right that ain't going to happen, broadheads and field points hitting the same out to a hundred yards, etc. All of that stuff is good but if your spine is off it is going to make some of that impossible. Do like he said and walk back tune it and call it good. More often than not it will shoot bullet holes, bareshaft tune and shoot better than the shooter is capable of shooting. So much unnecessary emphasis is put on tuning and not enough on shooting. A tuned bow is a must but not to the point of obsessing about whether you have perfect arrow flight at 10 feet. Archery is supposed to be fun. -
Glad it turned out ok. Spider bites are nothing to fool around with. I had a black house spider bite me on the back of the hand and it took a year for it to fully heal. Nasty suckers !

27 isn't the only area that has seen a dramatic decrease in mule deer. The lower desert units are unbelievably bad in areas that once held good numbers of quality bucks. The drought gets the most blame but predators are a big problem. For the life of me I don't understand why the Dept doesn't lower permit numbers. It is the one area that they control. I have heard all the rhetoric how one buck can breed so many does and that lowering of permits will do nothing. Aerial gunning of coyotes during fawning is something else I would like to see but the politically correct crowd in the Dept isn't going to allow that to happen. Having said all of that I drew a 44A general rifle tag. First rifle tag I have had since about 1995. Not even sure I can even hit the target anymore.

I have never slept on a cot but am completely revamping my hunting camp. New 10x14 Kodiak Canvas tent, self inflating air mattresses and 2 XL cots yesterday. Hope they are what I am looking for.

I am not anti-mechanical in the least. The deer in my avatar was killed with a mechanical. If I have a fixed blade broadhead that will shoot as accurately as any mech and take out the possibility of mechanical failure than that is what I am going to shoot. If mechs work for you then shoot them.

125 grain Slick Trick! As good as they come. If I could post pics from my stone age cell phone to a computer I could show you some 60yd 5 arrow groups that measure 3 1/2". Using either Victory V1 or Maxima Red arrows fletched with AAE Max Hunters with a radical helical. Deer and pig get a 100 ST with the same arrows and vanes. They are as accurate as any broadhead I have shot and that includes several different mechanicals.

What good are they other than harrassing American citizens. http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Texas/2014/07/11/Exclusive-TSA-Allowing-Illegals-to-Fly-Without-Verifiable-ID-Says-Border-Patrol-Union

I talked with a guy from the US Chamber of Commerce a month or so ago. He said it is a liberal strategy to secretly fund Tea Party candidates through individuals or shadow liberal organizations knowing that they can't win a general election in most cases. He used Harry Reid's last election as an example of what happens when a true conservative runs in a tight race. Don't know that I completely agree with him but he got me to thinking. Still, I would rather vote for a conservative than one like our senators.

There are lots of rumors floating around about this deer but before everyone starts throwing stones at this guy maybe we should wait until it has gone through the legal system. Innocent until proven guilty or the other way around?

He is making good his promise to "fundamentally change America." He asked for help to do it by getting elected and the people of America voted him in. He is not stupid or dumb, he is highly intelligent and is doing to America what no foreign military could do........destroy us. I fully expect there will be some ''national crisis" before his term of office is up that will allow him to declare martial law and continue in office beyond his 2nd term. And we will allow it to happen. He is above the law and has no respect for the Constitution or the law. He does as he chooses and nobody has the balls or power to stop him. He is quite effectively becoming a dictator.

I'd watch out being in close proximity to a decoy during any kind of firearms hunt. Some moron is likely to start shooting at it.

I received no email confirmation either and called after a few days just to check to see if my apps were received. The girl told me that they had been received but they were having problems with their email system. For some reason it didn't surprise me.

Spotting Scopes: Observing Technique Questions
creed replied to Swivelhead's topic in Optics and tripods
Years ago I worked as an instrument man on survey crews. Looking through optics all day was part of my job. I have no issues with looking through a scope. It is similar to shooting through a peep sight on a compound bow. I use both eyes open but use a squint which effectively shuts down my left eye. If you have too much difficulty use an eye patch. Some guys swear by it, others say it is useless. -
I've been watching the classifieds and see a lot of the Vortex 15x56's for sale. If these binoculars are as good as people say they are why are there so many being sold? I am going to get a pair of 15's but am thinking along the lines of the Zeiss. I am kind of spooked by the number of Vortex that are getting sold. It doesn't seem right if they are that good.

Take a look at this. My wife wanted to try it instead of the Alps Mountaineering self inflating pads we bought. BTW they are nice! Haven't had an opportunity to use them yet but plan to over Memorial Day while scouting in 5BS. http://www.amazon.com/ALPS-Mountaineering-Rechargeable-Air-Twin/dp/B007X098QC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1399557865&sr=8-3&keywords=alps+mountaineering+air+pads

I'm thinking of buying one of these but have concerns about how durable they are. And they are pricey. Any advice before I go out and lay down a bunch of money on one? Are they worth the money?

Same here. 40 years of Copenhagen ruined my mouth. I have a mouthful of crowns now thanks to it. My dentist told me it is acidic and will eventually eat the enamel off of your teeth. He explained to me that is why I had 13 cavities in the teeth that had constant contact with it. Had a horrible sore throat for about a month when I quit. I was told that was the nerve endings coming back to life that had been anesthetized by tobacco. Finally switched to herbal snuff to get free from it 7 years ago. I still miss it when guys like Slim open up a can and shove a big old dip in their mouth.

Ryan, I am in the same boat. I have done a lot of research and the disc-o-beds seem to get the highest marks. However, I have a couple of friends that swear by air mattresses. For the price they carry an extra just in case of a puncture. I am giving this some serious thought just to see how it works. A floor liner would have to be a must I would think to help prevent things from getting under it and puncturing it. Also I would want a DC air pump or a manual pump. DC pumps are on the www for around $20 http://www.target.com/p/coleman-comfortsmart-double-high-airbed-with-built-in-pump/-/A-14348119?ref=tgt_adv_XSB10001&AFID=shopzilla_df&LNM=14348119&CPNG=Sports&srccode=cii_10043468&cpncode=35-200324739-2 I have self inflating mattresses and 4" foam mattresses. I would be packing one extra with me the first couple of times out just in case this didn't work.
