This thread has almost got me talked back into shooting feathers again. Not only do they shoot well they look really awesome too!
-
I shot feathers for years. Accuracy is superb and speed is good out to 30 yards. It starts to drop off and out at extreme distances there is a huge difference compared to vanes. They need to be waterproofed. There are several ways of doing it but I used to spray them with Snow Dry and carry a baggie with me. I always thought they were noisier than vanes but that didn't bother me. They get beat up pretty good but unless there is a big chunk out of them accuracy isn't affected that much. I tried the 2" razyrs but didn't think they handled broadheads all that well. If I went back to feathers I think I would try the 3" shield cut with a good helical and get as much offset as practical. I think it would be a good compromise between the 2 and 4" feathers.

I had a run in with a guide in 5BS a couple of years ago. We had been on a bull straight out of camp way before daylight and were getting close when he shows up with who I presume was his client and tells me that they had been on this bull all morning and basically I should back off. . I told him we had too and that he could go chase other bulls. I was pretty sure from his attitude he thought about getting a piece of me. He eventually backed off because I wasn't going to give an inch.

65lb limbs, #3 cams, currently set at 30" but I have modules for 29 1/2 and 30 1/2. America's Best strings and cables were put on in early Dec of last year. Still have a lot of life left. Also have a factory Hoyt back up string in good shape, 4 pin Montana Black Gold sight, RipCord code red rest with an extra launcher and a Sims stabilizer. Selling a Plano hardcase with it. Ii am asking $550 with sight, rest, stabilizer and hardcase or $475 barebow and hardcase.

Thanks guys. If it doesn't go this time around I will keep it and unload an older bow at a much lesser price. I have no need for three of them.

One more time......bump

Thanks guys. If it doesn't sell pretty quick I will keep it. I already have 3 but can only shoot one at a time.

What he said. I have been shooting Hoyt for years and continued to buy them even after the later models didn't feel good to shoot. I just went into Ross and shot several and walked out with a Prime Rival. I doubt the quality is any better than any of the other top end bows but it felt good.

I think the only thing that would be better than our system is throw the whole point system out and make everyone play on equal ground. I like the fact that I can draw every year regardless of how many points I have.

$500 with accessories or $450 bare bow.

I have taken 2 antelope with a bow. Zero elk. Yes I would trade.

Looks like everyone drew 5bs or 8. Be seeing some of you guys there.

Yamaha! I know a lot of guys that swear by Polaris but my experiences with them have not been good. My boss is thinking of getting rid of his Ranger due to the problems he continually encounters. I have a 2015 Honda Pioneer that I bought to replace my 06 Rhino. It is mechanically sound but extremely cramped for leg space. I still have my Rhino and plan on keeping it. With a bit of maintenance it just keeps on running.

Throw it in a pit! We used to start a big fire when we came in mid day from hunting. Before we left to go back out we would wrap up veggies, roasts, chicken, potatoes in aluminum foil and bury it in the coals. Freakin' good eating after a long day of hunting!

I have shot nothing but Hoyts the last 15 years but after shooting the Rival I had to have it. It was faster than my Spyder, had an unreal back wall and just felt good to shoot. I haven't had it long enough to say it's better but so far I have no complaints.

Go here....it's a PDF download Big game hunt recommendations

Forgot about them!

I think they should go back to the one draw a year system so everyone would have to wait until late July to find out they if are going hunting or staying home. And paper. And making you pay a $5 fee if you didn't feel like speed dialing with 2 phones for 4 hours trying to find out. Those were the good old days.
-
Once the info is loaded into the computer the draw takes about 30 seconds from start to finish That info is per a G&F employee who is pretty knowledgeable of how it works. 30 seconds isn't going to make much difference.

I had a leak with mine and the company told me to use something like Camp Dry. They said I needed to be careful with the type of water repellent spray I used.
