It's in Humboldt. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/tongue.gif Actually they call us Dewey-Humboldt nowadays, South of Prescott Valley about 10 miles. The church is 2500 Old Black Canyon Highway... we'd love to have you visit! I ran into a pastor in unit 8 during the elkhunt from that area. I think he said his church was a Baptist church. Gateway Baptist?

They are a joke and unenforceable.

I have a friend hunting there. He told me lots of elk and lots of hunters. He is going back up Thursday. I tagged out in 8 and am now helping a friend. The rut is really hit and miss where we are

I am going to have to think really hard about this one. I have used Nikon premieres for years and found them to be on par with the SLC's or the Zeiss. Nikon has some of the most underrated glass on the market.

Never used right hand Rancho Safari Catquiver VI. Runs about $170 new. Asking $115. I don't like the way it fits my shoulders. Details in the link below. http://ranchosafari.com/product/catquiver-vi/

What Slim said. Works great with the right nozzle.

Never owned a wall tent but I have owned an Alaknak. I didn't think it was that difficult to set up. It's been said before but a Kodiak Canvas is a quality tent that is a one man set up. They don't have a stove jack but there are ways around that with a Little Buddy type heater.

Have them on my Pioneer. Going into my third year and 1500 miles without issues nearly all in the desert. Only thing I would recommend is filling those suckers up with some type of tire sealant.

After losing much of the use of my left arm through physical therapy and weight lifting I am able to hold my wife's 3.2 lb Diamond edge and pull 52 lbs. without my arm buckling. Only good for about 8-10 arrows before it starts collapsing on me. i was looking at hunting bows and came across the Icon DLX. I don't know squat about Bowtech but it weighs the same and comes in the 50-60lb range. . Anyone own one? Any other recommendations? I have never shot the shorter bows and was curious about long range accuracy too. I don't want to hunt with a crossbow but I am physically unable to hold at arms length a heavy, long ata compound. If I pull the trigger on this bow I am going to use a cat quiver and relieve some of the weight.

Anyone used any of the wash in "waterproofing" products out there? I am too tight to buy high dollar pants and was looking for something to add just a bit of water repellency to my pants. I have used some of the spray on stuff like Camp Dry with mixed results. Any early elk hunt I have been on has usually had either a heavy dew or rain. I get soaked from the knees down sometimes to the point of water getting into my boots.

For you guys that wear gaiters, do they have a tendency to ride down your legs or do they stay up ok?

Hard core Slick Trick user here. Why change if it ain't broke. I put some 125's on my arrows too. There was a noticeable difference in accuracy. Guessing it would be the FOC change.

Smokey Mountain herbal snuff. They have sample packages. I kicked the addiction but not the habit. https://apfco.org/secure/W1370A/#Samples

Quit dipping after 42 years. It was 10 years ago April. My worse cravings still come when I am hunting. Something about sitting a waterhole or glassing from a mountain triggers a craving that I can hardly resist. I dip the same herbal snuff longshooter uses. It does help.

Due to medical reasons I am selling my hunting bows. 2006 Hoyt Trykon XL, right hand, 30" draw, 60-70 lbs, NAP 4000 dropaway and hardcase. Bought this new and have kept it as my backup. Strings are ok but if I were going to hunt with it I would probably change them out. $175 2015 Prime Rival bare bow, 60-70lbs, right hand, 29 1/2" draw. $500 OBO 17 Victory V-force V1 Elite arrows, 350 spine 30" from end of insert to end of nock, These are from two different lots so different fletchings with a couple needing refletched. $125 9 carbon express Maxima Reds, 350 spine, most needing refletched and a couple needing inserts. 30" from end to end.Have an old CX Hunter thrown in just because I need to get rid of it. $60 I live in the extreme west valley but can meet. I prefer face to face. I need the money so I am not interested in trades.

While not unfamiliar with 8 I have always hunted deer or turkey, never elk. I drew an early archery bull tag and went up this weekend to familiarize myself with the area west of Perkinsville Rd. I camped on the 108 and 41 intersection. I saw guys in camo and guys sitting off of tanks late in the evenings. Also a bit surprised to see fresh treestands up already. It's still 2 1/2 months to the deer opener and and another 3 weeks beyond that to elk season. Just curious but where would the least amount of hunters be during the early hunt? I am thinking where I was may be a bit crowded. 20 years ago I had hiked into Tule Canyon hunting deer a couple of days before the archery elk season opened and the elk activity was insane. I was a lot younger then and not disabled like I am now. Pretty sure I could have escaped hunting pressure but those days are behind me.

I am taking a lion tag with me any time I am in 8. We found 2 lion killed deer and saw a lion when we came up to a tank.

Thanks for the info guys. It just seemed like there was a lot of early activity. I never did like crowds but it sounds like it would be easy to get away from them. I hunted 5BS the last couple of times I drew an elk tag and it seemed no matter how deep in the woods I went I ran into someone.

$425 on the rival.
