Does it have stock suspension? What is the ground clearance? I had a 700 I wished I had never gotten rid of

A good friend took a 360ish bull out of 5BS.

I'd go to the area I have been seeing the biggest antelope. If he isn't a size hunter I would hunt where I have been seeing the most antelope.

I am a bit surprised at how fast some of these archery units are filling their quota. But then I should be thankful for all the opportunity it provides. Can't wait to see how fast the late hunts shut down if it stays dry.

It will help quality IMO but I am not sure how much it will affect overall numbers. One buck can breed a bunch of does. Guess time will tell. If they would cut out the Dec hunts and slide it into Jan like the 45 units it would let bitchers like me hunt the rut without going to a draw. I don't think that is going to happen. I guess I should be thankful to still be able to hunt with what time is available.

There is no August hunt

They shut 42 down in one of the best big buck ruts I have seen in a long time.
-
Shorten the season by taking out the December portion of the hunt. It would give more time in January to hunt when the rut is going.
-
The 40 units are still closed and won't open until Dec. While there are pockets of rutting towards the first of the year most areas I hunt don't get fired up until around the 10th of January and are hot for a couple of weeks. With last year being a wet year 42 still lost over a week from previous years. I will bet that it never sees the 10th of January in a dry year. Same for 44A. 39 and 41 might make it until the 3rd week in Jan. I would rather lose the Dec portion of the hunts and keep Jan. open longer but that likely isn't going to happen

Go to a draw. I've supported one all along. Hunt quality is going to take a hit because of the quota. The rut hunt in some of the desert units will be much shorter or possibly non existent in dry years. When 42 shutdown early last year overcrowding became an issue in some areas of the bordering units. Guess I am selfish but the desert rut is my favorite of any hunt AZ has to offer. I hate to lose it but fully support regulating deer harvest numbers. I just think a draw is the best way to regulate it and maintain the quality of the hunt.

I have shot 400 grain arrows for years and have had no issues. The years I’ve drawn an elk tag I screw on a 125 grain Slick Trick for an arrow weight of 425grains at 282fps. I’ve blown through both scapula of a bull with this setup. The 342fps is a stripped down bow under ideal conditions. It typically is figured at 70lb ,350 grain arrow at 30” draw. I would guess your real speed is closer to 300fps

Light rain here in the armpit of AZ. NWS is saying this next 72 hours could be interesting. I think it's ironic that we are supposed to get very significant rainfall just before the deer season opener. Maybe it will pull the deer off of water and carry some of these units into the rut.

I have a 257 Imp RCBS version with the 28 degree shoulder. Anyone know a gunsmith that might be able to ream it out to 40 degrees? I have had no luck finding someone.

You don’t see many of them in my part of the desert. I’ve spent a lifetime roaming it and bet I’ve seen less than 15 in the wild. Ditto for Gila Monsters

We booked with Island view charters. It was a group booking. I did not hear of one complaint.

My wife and I got back from Sitka last night. Brought back nearly 200lbs of fillets. Had weather from clear to fog so heavy you couldn't see more than 100 feet. Awesome fishing!
