1st Annual All-Ladies Turkey hunt!
azhuntergirl replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Great pics Amanda! The All-Ladies hunt sounds AWESOME! I've only ever hunted with men, and while that is a fun experience too, I can't imagine what fun all women would be!!! Congrats on some great gobblers! -
Do natives get extra points? Just kidding. But in all seriousness, I was born here and at 24 would be eligible for 1 extra point, and my dad would be for 2. I think it would be great, but it's all about revenue, and they get more revenue from out-of-state tag holders. I would definitely support your proposition, but I highly doubt G&F will.

San Francisco Peaks set to ERUPT

Thankfully that lovely volcano has been dormant for about 6 million years! Though because it's dormant but not dead, that joke may not actually be a joke! Great picture! Thanks for sharing. -
Bighorn Sheep information?
azhuntergirl replied to anthonyrmatthews's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
My dad drew a desert bighorn tag this year. One of the things he's found helpful so far is calling the unit game manager. Those guys are out there way more often than any of us are and they usually LOVE to help the guys who are lucky enough to get the yearly tags! Good Luck!!! -
The boy and I got drawn for 6A Oct hunt (don't know the dates...regs aren't dl'ing) My dad got drawn for Desert Bighorn in 37A. Been putting in for 23 years, and at 61, he finally got drawn!! And I get to see my old man on the hunt of a lifetime. What a HUGE blessing! This is gonna be a GOOD hunting year. Congrats to all ya'll that got drawn, and better luck next year to those that didn't.

worst draw system in the west!!!
azhuntergirl replied to crbn4runner's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Sorry man!!! That really is a bummer. I don't even know what I'm going to do when/if I have kids......tell my parents "You've got the kids for a week or two, and every weekend until the hunt."? Lol. Who knows...they may post 'em today. I've never been this excited for the results before, so I don't even remember the wait last year. Is this what it's gonna be like every year now?!?! My poor bf. -
Can you all stop the fortune telling in here please? I keep checking when there are new posts to see if they're really out, but I keep having to wade through predictions. I'm already freakin out enough! I SWEAR my boyfriend is about ready to muzzle me bc I'm so frustrated with them not posting the results already!

Well I'm a full-time student (Junior) at ASU studying Economics at W.P. Carey. I grew up in S.E. Arizona (SE of Tucson 90 miles) in some of the prettiest country in the state. My father took me hunting at 7, and I've bee hooked ever since. I also work full-time as a CSR in my family's insurance agency called Professional Underwriters of AZ, Inc. My dad (Jeff) has been in the insurance business for well over 30 years. We specialize in liability insurance for Architecture and Engineering firms of all sizes and disciplines (we also cover attorneys, real estate agents, and we have a ranch client too!). We brokder all forms of insurance excluding life and health. So ifyou happen to need coverage, let us know. Our website is www.profunderwriters.com.

I grew up by Benson, and we always used Willcox Meat Packers....they always did a GREAT job! GREAT Chorizo. But I'm doubting you'll be heading down that far south. Good luck on the hunt!

From reading the very first posting on this thread, we weren't supposed to PREDICT the time to win, we were supposed to POST when it was OUT. But perhaps I'm misinterpreting?

Called just now, and I got a busy signal 3x in a row. I got all excited, then the annoying voice picks up, I press 2, and I'm told again "Draw results are unavailable" BOOOOOO.

I thought archery was otc WELCOME!!!! I'm fairly new to the forums (6 mos) and the folks on here are SUPER helpful!! Enjoy!

I'm terrified now. Of wringing someone's neck. Lol.
-
Lol. Well put. Especially since bear opens on a Saturday this year!

Really truly a great ram! Congratulations on the B&C and the harvest itself. Maybe I can draw a tag for one of those beauts before I've been putting in for as many years as my pops. He's been putting in since the 80's, and never gotten drawn. Congrats again. You must be very very proud!

how many times have u called
azhuntergirl replied to regge090's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
They still aren't out. I've called every half hour from 7 am to about 6 pm every day since monday. So obviously Butch is LYING I'm going nuts not knowing what unit, if any, I got drawn for. -
I'm getting ornery. For the sake of my boyfriend's sanity, they need to post the results already. He told me that there is some sort of malfunction with the system, and worst case they'll be out next week. I think I nearly reached through the phone to wring his neck! lol. The only thing worse than a man waiting on draw results is a posessed woman. Which would be me.

AZ G&F being sude over capture & tranq of Macho B
azhuntergirl posted a topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Arizona G&F is being sued by The Center for Biological Diversity for supposedly violating the Endangered Species Act in the accidental capture of Macho B, the famed Boboquivari jaguar. Here is the link to the press release: http://www.biologicaldiversity.org/news/pr...05-12-2009.html I wanted to see what everyone thought about the lawsuit, and the initial incident causing the filing of the lawsuit. Happy Hunting, Rachel -
So I've been rifle hunting since I was about 7 years old, but just started getting into bow hunting. The boyfriend loves bow hunting, and I've met one other gal that shoots. It would be nice to find a few other gals that bow hunt to maybe bounce questions off of and get ideas from. I'm looking at bows, and honestly don't know the first thing about them. While the bf is great at explaining, and has a lot of knowledge, it would be really nice to broaden my own knowledge to make informed decisions on bow and arrow selection, as well as tactics and info. Any knowledge you can pass along, or people who would be interested in helping me start this new endeavor would be greatly appreciated!

AZ G&F being sude over capture & tranq of Macho B
azhuntergirl replied to azhuntergirl's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Ultramag, I'm unsure as to how G&F dropped the ball. The apparatus that caught Macho B was meant for Mountain Lion, which was a totally legitimate use of procedure and equipment. There were approved measures in place should a jaguar ever be caught, though the chances were slim. They couldn't have walked up the the jaguar saying "Here kitty kitty kitty, let me take that off of you....don't bite me, i'm your friend!". And yes, sadly they get to use our tax dollars to fight idiocy. Again. Which is really no surprise. -
How much are ya asking for this pack? I'm looking for a pack for the upcoming deer season and was thinking the 2200 would be perfect.

Amanda, Thanks so much for your advice, and I look forward to speaking with Kathy. I met you (briefly) at the G&F expo a few months back with my bf (who's known on here as coueschaser3). It's wonderful to get help and avenues of information that I can follow! Thanks a bunch! Happy Hunting, Rachel
