Here is a picture of the buck we nicknamed "The King"...My brother actually pulled it off with a rifle after we couldn't connect with the bow...He is a giant 12 pointer with double eyeguards...Again,this was another DIY on public land...Its been one great vacation with friends and family,not to mention great scenery and food...Nate

Chalk up deer number 2...This is the toughest vacation ever!! This was actually a spot and stalk 60 yard hard quartering away shot.. Morel mushrooms,smoked salmon and bacon wrapped backstraps smoked over applewood...yummy!!

I have to say,both deer weighed in at around 250 lbs each..took two of us to drag them 500 yards through thick forest...unless they grow giant coues in Michigan that was a funny post!! Lol...

Managed to punch my first tag the first 20 minutes in my stand on this 8 pointer,quartering away,52 yards..full pass through..the bucks are nose to the ground!!DIY on public land is no joke..Fall colors and salmon still running too.Hope you all are having fun back in AZ!

Managed to connect on a couple dogs while testing my new Spikes Tactical .300 BLK and sight in my friend's 7mm-08...was short but a fun trip.. starting to cool off and dog season is here...

HyNoon- Thanks man,the loads were perfect from the get go with 19.2 grains of W296 and 110 grain Barnes TacTx ballistic tips..bad medicine out to about 400 yards..glad to help out on the tripod..

I load hornady match brass with 42 grains of IMR 4064 topped with a hornady A-max 168 ballistic tip..comes out the barrel about 2730 fps ..... OAL of 2.80" keeps going all the way out to 1150 yards without issues..

Thanks a ton everyone..This was round 2 after last weekends failure to connect..got up there that morning early and was heading to the head of a canyon with some water pockets in it..As I started in I spotted this big sow and it was a 300 yard shot with my .308,she dropped in one of the water puddles...Yes she was a shaggy one..pretty heavy bear and it took a couple trips to get her out..great fun and now the processing of the meat chore begins..Did see bears everyday though,sometimes 5 a day..and I don't glass a whole bunch..did see elk,fox,a giant coues in the 130 range that looked ridiculous even at 350 yards with a left side drop tine...plenty of turkeys too..great trip....Nate

The San Carlos Reservation does not allow baiting..it was a fair and square spot and stalk...good question though...
