Dick, Congratulations on your retirement and success in this years draw. I only hope that when I reach that pinnacle, I will still be able to have fun and be able to remember to put in for the draw. Have a successful year. Oh yeah, might I suggest "NO GOLFING IN THE RAIN". Congrats again.

How Would You Hunt This Coues Spot?
June replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Mr. RR , I'm lazy . so, I headed up the east slope before light and will sit at the saddle. That way you can push the deer to me. 34a no help to ya!!. Maybe 35a . But there are no deer there only jaguarundi. (look that up). Just having some fun here. . I wish i could be as detailed as Mr. Coosefan with all the green arrows and purple. But right now I have only two brain cells left and one is currently giving CPR to the other . I'll go away now. -
Though you guy's/gals might find this interesting, This was suppose to be my friend BIG John's maiden voyage with his vintage boat bought two weeks earlier. Can you guess what happen ,many clues in the pick. I don't have photo shop so i hope the pic is acceptable. Don't know how to crop or edit. I think BIG John was a little upset that he couldn't go crappie fishing.

Red Rabbit, The driving down the highway and cigarette being tossed was exactly what I told Big John when he rolled into work and told the story. Well this happen several years back at rosy. When he bought the boat it had been siting out for sometime but otherwise in really good shape. It was one of those two seater's that had two small bench seats. More for taking you family on a ride than a fishing boat. At the rear of the boat was a small storage area for an ice chest and where the fuel was stored. Two 5 gallon plastic gas containers. I remember the previous owner specifically telling Big John that he should replace them as they had seen a lot of sun. I think that went through one ear and out the other cause he never replaced them. He did, however, go out and buy one of those big ice chests that could hold something like 150 cans of his favorite beverage. Anyways, So a couple of days before the trip Big John approaches me and asked if I wanted to tow his boat and go fishing. From the get go I had that weird feeling and for the only time in my life I actually turned down a fishing trip. Well, when Big John and his motley crew arrived at rosy very late at night. The lake was so low that the ramp at windy point was completly out of the water. They were told that they would need to head over to the other ramp. Well someone at this time discovered that one of those five gallon plastic containers had ruptured on the trip and all the gas was lying in the bottom of the boat. . Well they still had one container full ,so they just open the drain plug and got as much gas out as they could. Now here's where this story got interesting. What I was told is that as they were heading back up the highway to the other ramp. They went over that cattle guard up the hill and the next thing they new someone was yelling from the back of the truck the boats on FIRE!!. They quickly pulled over and had some furious moments trying to get the trailer off the hitch. All they could do now was watch. At the time i don't know how far the nearest fire department was but they said it burn for about a hour before they showed up. Now remember that big ice chest I mentioned earlier filled with all those cans. well they started exploding and shooting out of the fire like little rockets for several minutes. The words from the sheriff that had responded was "You boys sure had a lot of beer in their didn't you". Well this picture is all that's left of Big John and his boat. They left the boat and trailer at the rosy dump. They all came to the conclusion that the safety chain must have caused a spark as they went over the cattle guard. I'm still sticking to the cigarette being tossed myself. Man I'm glad I wasn't there.

Thanks on playing , Some guesses have been hopping in the right direction. (Hint). Remember this boat was originally bought somewhere in the sixties from SEARS of all places!! . I guess back then you could order a boat. And Big John well let's just say he was Big John. I'll give it a little while and then let the cat loose and tell the full story, if your interested. Richard

Nice find and way cool!! Never seen it on elk before, My uncle killed a nice three point coues in mid nov. a few years back. It was hard antlered with velvet still completly on it( but somewhat dried). This buck was a little under developed underneath. If you know what I mean. Thanks for sharing.

WFGinNM , 7 hours isn't that bad for some good fishing. Even with with tribal fees lodged somewhere back there. We had fun. But like earlier said they haven't yet entirely spawned ,if at all. So it can only get better once they move in. If you don't mind paying the fee. If I may, Give Jesse over at Saguaro Tackle and Archery a call for some information. He's in Tucson and Knows his fishing. He's helped me from set-ups to where to go. Hows Elelphant doing by ther way?

Pretty much if you were fortunate to get in them. Yellow/green ( was that John Deere) , also Acid rain. But i still think you need to chase a minnow with them. Pretty much kept thinking to myself that these fish have seen everything thrown at them and their still hitting. I also wanted to thank Saguaro Tackle and Archery for giving me my minnows and tips. Going to try to get back up there soon. Good luck, Richard

STIHL 210 is what I have. Worth every penny and goes through mesquite without an issue. One good then to remember is not to leave any fuel in it for longer than a month. What I do is run it completely out if I'm going to store it for a long time. If you want a more reliable opinion call your local fire department and ask them what they use. I think you'll see what I mean.

Elkman, Just got back from San Carlos after being there since last Wednesday. Yea Haw Wed. was pretty stable (not furious) when we got there. Thurs. WINDY and Quick Rainstorm. didn't even think about going out. Fri. Slow for us. Saw a kid with about 6 good size who was fishing from shore where the river comes in. Sat. Pick-up'ed 13 within about 2 hours of slow trolling. Biggest 2 1/2 lb. and all over 1 lb. Really didn't fish in the massive floatilla so can't give any feedback. Seems like two areas everyone is at is the San Carlos Memorial and directly East near the farthest shore. Lots of fish on radar between 5 and 8 feet. but didn't like what we were offering. Could have been due to the wind that picked up as storms past to the south and NE We got some nice ones NE east of the memorial across from the (pelicans). I was using a black/blue jig with minnow attached. Water is cloudy in this area. Clear the closer you get to the Dam. water temp 58-61 degrees. Caught some Bass, Cats, And one Crappie from where we were camped. A friend of my cousin caught some very good Bass in the clear water. Heard one was over 9lbs. Yeah TATAat27 I'm sure someone has found them in abundance right near shore. All the females we caught still have their eggs. Good luck and happy fishing. Again if you had very long legs you could have walked on water from boat to boat LOL. Close to 80-100 boats in Today's floatilla.

Gamehauler, I couldn't stop laughing but it looks battle worthy. I think Costa Rica has no Navy. But if you show them your vessel they may reconsider and make a bid. Do the windows have hand rollers. That's pretty funny. I hope your not serious. Actually my uncle had a boat very similar minus the turret and we caught a lot of fish on it. Let me think about the price for awhile. Does the spare come with it? I didn't see it listed.

Can we pretend to catch lions , jaguars and bears- oh my!!! In unit 35A. This all might have to due with saving face and the border fence. But again, This was intentional all the way. Known habitat for how long so let's study how lions and bears are doing? Don't get me wrong this was bad from the get go. But like Mr Q said there's plenty of data available from a bigger source down south. Mistakes are made and we learn from them. What were they going to learn from his movement??? (No fence) We all have our freedom of speech to express ourselves but we also need to stand together even if we differ. Just don't tell anyone there's a Jagarooni running around out there. Then this will get very ugly. I know now I will never see another elk tag, again. But then again AZGFD was not soley responsible.
-
Ok Lightening didn't strike and nobody has knocked on the door. So maybe I still have a chance on drawing an elk tag?

Just wondering if the recap of Macho B was a political move? No more data, No more activists? I just had to go there.

Is it OK to shoot FOB's during the Triple Crown?
June replied to June's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Thanks for replyin BowNut. Sorry to hear so many nocks lost. Were the target yardage that easy to guess? . Been to some shoots and they should have told me they were all smoker rounds. It's all about having fun anyways. Not sure if i would need a pocket full of FOB's as i have seen arrows go completly through and iside the the outer ring of the FOB without destroying the Fob or deflecting the other arrow. If anything i think a FOB sitting in the 12 ring gives everyone something to focus on. They are rather bright. Used to use nothing but black knocks myself. Anyway just wanted to know if I could shoot them or not. Have alot of fletched arrrows either way. Figured more experience FOB shooters would have chimed in or if anyone did shoot FOB's during the first leg. Or again are they allowed. I can't be the only one wanting to know since their success has been posted during the hunts (like the claw for rifle). This site does have a wealth of knowledge and though I'am a newbie. I respect your input or opinon. Thanks again.
