A Wee Little Change in Our Country
luvdemcoues replied to Rembrant's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
You know what else gets me... They did this on a Sunday! I will bet the Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves about that. Nothing is sacred anymore. We the people of the United States of America.... need to wake up and do something now! Or we will be saying "we the people" got hosed! (heck, we already can say that) -
I'm interest. PM sent. Josh

Quick question... I crushed the shoulder of a some of my brass but didn't realize it until I had done it to a few of them. I have already pulled the bullets and emptied the powder, but what do I do with the brass and unfired primers? I am not going to keep the brass, I was just curious about how to dispose of the unspent primers with them still in the brass... Thanks.

Very cool. I hope that big boy is still around.

Dude, I am sorry to hear that. I hate when people steal. It is such a horrible feeling to have your personal things taken like that. -
Hey J, Thanks again for calling in that cat. Too much fun. I'm hooked! Congrats on the foxy. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the bobcat...

270 WSM reloading suggestions
luvdemcoues replied to lionhunter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thought I would revived this thread (and maybe even hi jack it)... I was finally able to track down some Remington LR Mag primers today. I haven't built a load yet but thought I would ask some questions of people a lot more knowledgeable than myself. I have 2 different powders... RL 22 and H4831sc. Also 2 different primers... CCI LR and the Remington LR Mag primers. I will be trying to get the Berger 140 grains to shoot right. Any suggestions on the Mag primers vs. the CCI primers? I am using Winchester brass for some loads and Federal brass for others if that makes a difference. Thanks, Josh -
Gamehauler, I have access to a bunch of pecan wood if you want any of that. I'm in. Queen creek. Josh

Dandy! Congrats. -
Hey all you More Knowledgeable People Than Me out there, I have a quick question about reloading. When I was first taught about reloading, I was told that Neck Sizing is better than Full Length Sizing because it is more acurate. I am reloading for a bolt action 270 WSM. I cannot find the Neck Sizing dies anywhere. Plenty of the full length dies. How much of a difference does the neck sizing make compared to the full lenth sizing. I currently have the RCBS Full Length Sizing Dies. Thanks for the help. Josh

Doug, that was a great article. Thanks for posting that. Josh

Good to know. Thank you everyone for your comments. I will let you know how it goes. I am going to give them a try.

Hmmm... anybody else have any history with the Bergers?
-
I am just starting to reload. I am sure I will have to try a few different seating depths out to get it just right. Thanks for the input fellas. I am sure if I tried hard with the Accubonds, I could get them to shoot well, I just thought that with what I am reading and hearing about the Bergers, I would give them a try first. I do not take real long shots, and I have read that the Bergers or more effective at long distances. Any thoughts?

Very nice! Congratulations to you and your brother on his kill too. Welcome, both of you, to the site.

Wow! There was a lot of antler in that photo. Congested to all!

I think the gf could have let you continue your hunt with the promise not to use the quad. That would have been the right thing to do. If the quad stays on the trailer, there is no crime to be arrested for. If it went down like you said it did, I cannot stand it when people threaten their authority like that. My two cents... but it would have saved you a lot of time had you just read the regs before you went out. Good luck in the future.

anyone know these scum bags?
luvdemcoues replied to DesertBull's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Let's see... $55,000 each per year for the next 20 years, plus the cost of the trial... Plus the life lost of a good man. Center mass people, come on! -
I got pulled over Christmas Eve. The DPS officer wasn't a member of CWT.com, but follows the posts. He was very nice, asked me to step out of my truck and we chatted about hunting for a while. Let me off with a warning. Too cool. Gotta love the hunting connection.

This is my only deer I have ever killed. It is just a little guy, but the cool thing about him is that I have him on a trail camera picture as well thanks to my hunting buddies. I shot him at 40 yards at 2:00 in the afternoon. It was about 95 degrees but felt like 120 in full camo. He went about 10 yards and dropped. I have also shot this cow elk. Another really cool hunt. She came in to a water tank all by her self. I shot her at about 25 yards with a 30-06. I had just reloaded for the first time. I loaded Barnes triple shock x bullets. I shot her and she immediatley started running. I shot her again at 15 yards (she was running past me) and then she ran uphill and out of sight. I looked everywhere for blood. Nothing. Freaked me out! To make matters worse, I could find any of the brass. I started to panic and thought that maybe I had crimped the bullets way too tight and the bullet hadn't come out. I found her about 40 yards up the hill in a thicket. The reason for no blood was there was about an inch and a half of fat between her skin and the meat.

No wonder you glassed him up 1.08 miles away!!! Congrats Tines!

270 WSM reloading suggestions

Has anybody tried the Barnes Tipped Triple shock in the 110 grain with the 270 WSM? I am thinking about these or the 130 grain TTSX. -

AZonecam, I did not mean any disrespect. I am very familiar with BR's outstanding football program. It was a sarcastic/jealous comment about them "finally being a good team again". BR has always dominated, and when they ever did loose, it was a close game. Congrats again to both teams making it that far and to BR pulling it off. Too exciting!
