Congratulations to Nicole. Great looking buck.

I'd say that buck has had a handout or two. Looks like a '49 Hudson in the background.

Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep hunt Question
Oak replied to Phil Carr's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Tribes that offer Rocky permits in the U.S. include: Uintah and Ouray Ute Indian Reservations in Utah Blackfeet Nation in Montana Taos Pueblo in New Mexico There may be others that slip my mind at the moment. -
Can one tell their 10 year old son that he will have to wait 23 years to hunt antelope? A preference system will not be good for recruitment or retention, imo. Does anyone want to watch their 75 year old father go to the grave without ever drawing a tag? That 75 year old guy stayed retained as a hunter in the draw for all those years, and he didn't get a tag? What is the difference between him and a ten year old not getting one? If the 10 year old only had to wait 23 years, at least he/she would be 33 when they got one! Just sayin.... Careful what you wish for. Having operated under Colorado's system my entire life, I would trade you for AZ's in a heartbeat. A person starting to build points right now would NEVER draw one of our premium elk tags in their lifetime, resident or non-resident. It is very easy to criticize draw systems when they do not produce the results we want. Fact is, the demand for premium hunting opportunities far exceeds the supply, and a subset of draw participants will always feel slighted. I believe that New Mexico and Idaho have the best points systems, and Colorado has the worst.

Those lichens are great. Would be neat if he could make other species of lichens just a realistically.

Colorado Elk Draw-Effects of New Colorado Draw Regulations
Oak replied to Western Hunter's topic in Western Hunter and Elk Hunter Magazine
Mark should have pointed out that non-residents don't have a chance of drawing a hybrid tag, which is a little-known fact to most non-residents. Although the regulation is not written that way, 80/20 split component eliminates non-residents from the hybrid draw, which occurs last, due to their 20% allotment being filled in the regular draw. A very similar situation as the most popular hunts in AZ. -

Thanks, just curious. We will disagree on that one. -
Governor hearing a sales pitch for HB2072 today
Oak replied to audsley's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Craig, you keep bringing up the "54 auction tags" comment. But HB2072 set aside approximately 350 total tags. In my opinion, those 300 or so raffle tags are just as important as the 54 auction tags, wouldn't you agree? By removing them from the draw, you devalue bonus points that people have been purchasing for a long time, and you reduce the odds of drawing for every hunt code they are removed from. And the money raised with those raffle tags still doesn't go to AZGFD. JMO -
No, just three typical points per side and the rest are non-typical. It had 3 nontyp points on each side, totalling 15 5/8 of nontypical points. Yes, that's what I was thinking. I mis-spoke and referred to the main beam as a point. Thanks!

Incredible buck! Amanda, was that buck scored with 4 typical points per side? Just curious.

This is the most important thing for AZ residents to be acting on right now. You must realize that you don't need to wait for a new bill to be introduced before you contact your representatives. You should all be contacting them early and often, and make it clear that it is the idea that you disagree with, not the particular bill. Contacting a representative one time is not good enough. They need to be reminded over and over where sportsmen stand on the issue. Remember that those who will try to push something like this through will claim a large membership is backing them. Therefore, you need to be larger!!
