I am headed over to the Gila Wilderness area towards Snow Lake next week. Anyone know any places were you can receive cell phone service or get data, without driving almost back to Reserve. Any information would be appreciated. coues3pt@gmail.com

Looking for some help from the members. I shot a bull on Thursday in Unit 10. Made in hit on the bull in the Liver area. Lots of blood until he rolled under a Juniper tree and stopped a lot of the bleeding. The broadhead I was using lost blades, all though made a clear pass through on the bull. We decided to leave the bull alone after we jumped him at 300 yards were he was originally hit, but an older well meaning friend wandered off only to come back 15 minutes later excited that he had jumped the bull. Unfortunately we lost a lot of the sign when he mixed in with some other elk. We have spent the last 3 days looking with no success. The bull is a heavy horned herd bull that would go about 350 plus. The last sign we found was found in a general area around Highway 66 and east of Seligman about 8 miles. Bull may have crossed over highway 66. Any help from you rifle hunters still out there is greatly appreciated. Phil coues3pt@gmail.com

Finally after 23 points I was drawn. Not sure which unit but I am pretty sure it was 10

Thanks for the feed back. I guess I now need to decide what unit I would really like to hunt. I waited this long and really would like to hunt an area were the best chance for a trophy will be found.

So then the process I described is correct?

I have read the bonus pass section in the AZ G&F regulations, but I guess I am still not clear on how all of this works. I will have 24 points for antelope this year. For this reason I am trying to make sure I understand this system. From what I understand 20% of the big game tags are set aside for the applicants with the highest number of points, is this correct? Does this mean that if there are 90 tags in unit 10, then 18 are set aside for the applicants with the highest number of points? Say for argument, that the highest number of points any applicant has is 24, and there are 15 residents with 24 points, all of these applicants would be drawn? (as long as their application is not requested for some reason.) If so then this would leave 3 permits still in the bonus pass pool. At that point if there are 50 applicants with the next highest level of points in this example 23 bonus point then these 50 applicants would then be placed in a drawn for the 3 permits? the help of some of the knowledgeable members is appreciated. Thanks Phil

FOR SALE REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK 50-90 SHARPS
Phil Carr replied to Phil Carr's topic in Classified Ads
Thought I would add a little info on the 50-90 Cartridge. The .50-90 Sharps is similar to the .50-100 Sharps and .50-110 Sharps cartridges. While all three use the same 2.5-inch (64 mm) case, the latter two use lighter bullets weighing from 335 grains to 400 grains (with the .50-90 using a 600 grain bullet). All rifles made for the .50-90 Sharps should be able to use the .50-110 and .50-100 cartridges due to the case dimensions being nearly identical. Bullet diameter was typically 0.512 inches (13.0 mm) diameter. Bullets weighed from 335 to 700 grains (21.7 to 45 g). Historical loads using black powder have muzzle energy in the 1,630 to 1,985 foot-pounds force (2,210 to 2,691 J) range,[2] while modern loads using smokeless powder give 2,561 to 2,989 foot-pounds force (3,472 to 4,053 J) of energy. The .50-90 was created specifically with buffalo hunting in mind. The buffalo is a large animal and difficult to take down reliably, leading to a demand for cartridges designed for buffalo hunting. At the time of its invention, there were no special powders or bullet types, and the knowledge of ballistics was fairly limited. Thus, when trying to create a more effective big game cartridge, the designers simply expanded the dimensions of prior cartridges. Billy Dixon used a Sharps .50-90 at the Second Battle of Adobe Walls on June 27, 1874 to make his legendary 1,538-yard shot -
I had great success finding an honest member ( Jimmy with Stewart Pool plastering) to re-plaster my 40 year old pool when I needed it. I thought I would see if I can locate a member that does Exterminating. I found some termites last week at the house and thought I better get a " Depredation Hunt" going on these things before they get out of control. I live on the East side in Tucson. Willing to trade work for guns, possible archery, etc... I like to barter for work when I can, but cash is also an option. Just like working with honest, straight shooting people and have found so many great members on this forum. Phil coues3pt@gmail.com

I have a friend that will be going on a mule deer hunt in Mexico this January. He would like some assistance crossing his rifle through the Nogales port of entry. Any recommendations on who to use?

A few months ago I posted here asking for some help in getting my 42 year old pool redone. Thanks to several members I found a great guy to help me out. Jimmy Stewart with Stewart Pool Plastering hooked me up. Not only did I get my pool done right, but I was able to talk hunting. Just had to share my positive experience. Amanda, a special Christmas card on its way to you for running such a great site with a great group on members. Merry Christmas

I guess that any animal lost and then found after the season close becomes the property of the AZ Game and Fish Department. From what I now understand you can look all you want for the lost animal after the season, but if found the Game and Fish department needs to be notified. They will investigate. Possibly depending on your proof you may or may not get to keep the rack. The antlers may be taken by Game and Fish and put up for auction.
